Bender's line "Sheesh, this is confusing!" lands even better in this context; you've got half a dozen storylines all intersecting at the same moment! 😂
You know if Futurama follows a single timeline, then Lars was able to make his family and Seymour happy. Which would mean that episode of Seymour waiting was a what-if visual right?
Nah, its a back to the future timeline scenario. Where changing the past creates a new timeline that replaces the old one. Seymour waiting did happen but only in that original timeline. If it follows a single timeline then there would've been a lot of "what if scenarios." For example in "luck of the fryish" Fry's brother Yancy gave his son Fry's clover and explicitly states that fry has been missing for years. In "Game of Tones" Fry visits his actual mother in the past who told him that she been dreaming about him a lot since he disappeared. This movie where fry travels to the past and stays with his family happens after all the episodes I mentioned above. In this new timeline Fry is now the one who gave Yancy's son his clover, and seymour never had to wait for Fry in this new timeline but he still ended up mummified by bender in the movie.
@@The25thY0RUYou are wrong because 1- the episode where Fry visits her mom in the dream happened after this movie and 2- Fry founds Seymour fossilized in the "orignal timeline" how was Seymour fossilized if this is not the same timeline? Since Bender is the one who fossilized it in the first place
Seymour lived a full life as a dog before becoming fossilized, at that point dying of old age / euthanasia vs getting insta fossilized doesn’t change much for a dog who lived well
How crazy would it have been if they had planned all this out and ALL of this was in a hour long pilot special and we had to wait all those years for all this to be put together.
With cow co fusing it all is and no payoff for years I’m sure it’d be a con in the executives deciding whether or not to green light it But if they did and the first episode did play out like this it’d be a massive payoff
I mean a lot of this is retcons, but they did also plan some of it out ahead of time. Go back to S1EP1 and you can see nibblers shadow under the desk (Fry wasnt there AFAIK but still).
It would cause _so many paradoxes_ if 2000 Fry was killed before reaching the future, so Nibbler, or his people, or even Bender may have nudged things around to ensure the cryogenics lab survived.
I read the creators commentary for the Pilot, even they don't know the answer, lol. Same with why the whole world is celebrating New Year at the same time with timzones being a thing.
Did the one that was sent way in the future come out at the end or was that one still in there? If so maybe he came back after being sent super far in the future.
@@sacrificiallamb4568Whenever a Bender was sent to the past, he just waited out in a cave where the planet expressed building would eventually be built. At the very end of the movie Bender tells all of the Bendors who are waiting in the cave to come out and then a hole is ripped in the universe.

I just realized that 7:50 in this edit is technically a mistake. Leela ended up in that tube for a few minutes later on, so Fry would have to set the timer after she unfroze instead of right after the original Fry unfroze.

Although, I have to ask about the rupture bubble when they come back in time and Zoidberg eats the pizza Fry is carrying. No matter. What you have put together is everything I have to do in my head every time I watch the first episode. Thank you! Looked up the information about the rupture bubble: Anthology of Interest Season 2, Episode 20 @20 minutes I was thinking about doing this about all the Star Trek references from the first episode onwards. Pretty liberal use of it she then it was apparently banned from public use long before Fry gets out of the tube the first time... Even Leonard Nimoy is involved in a few episodes. And Scruffy being a continuously reanimated clone... and Leela too. Remember the biological specimens from each character in the Farnsworth's safe? The professor lives off the blood of everyone. He is anemic (hence always sleeping) and requires their healthy blood to stay alive. His heart barely beats because he is always one best away from death. Always making comments about saving organs and blood. Fry's blood tastes good on pancakes...
There is a HUGE continuity error in the countdown sequence. When the scene cuts to the earth, the United States aka NYC is in daylight. And, by the positioning it’s turning 1pm in NYC when the countdown hits zero.
Note: at 7:28 you could have included that part from the episode where fry hooks up with a robot where they tell us about the aliens invading earth due to robosexualism.
Because over the centuries the hours would slowly drift out of sync, the show writers were actually really smart because when fry wakes up it’s around 5pm which is around what time it’d actually be in real life.
Thinking about Seymour always makes me a little misty... What a good boy. I hope to be like Lord Nibbler one day... celebrated for my pooping ability. Also, if the cryogenics building is part of 'old New York' why isn't it underground with the rest of 'Old New York'? Did I miss that part in the time line?
Just recently online I saw an entire chunk of land with houses on it slide off into the ocean. If the land caved in during the destruction of the city maybe some city blocks fell with it and they just built over that. The cryogenic building was either far enough away from the destruction or just built more sturdy and stayed in place.

My heart shattered into a million pieces, re-fused back together, then shattered again.
At least he got more years with Fry before being fossilized in an instant. The sad years of him waiting no longer exists.
Didn't Lars take him in for a bit?

Seymour waited outside for Fry every time he went to work or went home.

now the only question is, how did the city get destroyed twice yet the cryogenics building remained untouched
Since Nibbler's race put him in the cryo tube they ensured the building and Fry's tube survived everything.

Nibbler is voiced by Frank Welker a friend of Peter Cullen.
Huh i thought they were arch enemies.
