What’s up aircrete Harry! Thanks for all of your educational videos that you share with the public because it has really helped me out with my plans on building my own off grid dome in the near future. I’ll be building one dug in on the side of a 25 acre hill I own and I plan on burring everything except one side. I’d like to suggest something to you if I may. On my build I will be running a coiled waterline about 20 wraps or coils that I’ll mount and then I’ll pour my initial circular slab of concrete over that. I will be able to run a solar water heater in the winter and the water in theory should be able to circulate through the solar heater back down through the coils in the slab to heat the inside of my dome up and then back up to the solar heater again without electricity. Maybe next time you build a aircrete dome you might consider trying this low cost method of heating, but don’t forget to give ole Big Jim a shout out if all was successful haha. Keep up the awesome work man and thanks again for all the ideas you have given me on my build. All the best!
Why don't you use rolls of concrete canvas instead of shot Crete? Then finish with hand applied concrete? What about windows, air vents? What about rebar in the floor & electric power & plumbing through the floor? I assume you meant this as a basic demo. Given current events your demo could save lives. Thanks, Ron Morrison
Towards the end you were thowin and goin. I love manual labor. Keeps us healthy and you can put your love in it with the benefits of exercise. Keep up the great work. I'm next. Would love to visit one day to assist. Cheers!
Welcome to the channel 👍 A: By placing fibeglass mesh all around the Aircrete & covering it with 3,000 - 5,000 PSI Stucco Cement Mix, up to a quarter inch thick.
Great video. Did you do a video on the mixes you use or do you sell the recipes? I purchased the refractory mix recipe from Honey Do Carpenter. Neat stuff.
why not add any foam? Im guessing its not stable and will pop coz the constant movement during the day? no rebarb or BRC wire mesh? or at least one ring of rebarb at the outer perimeter? This stuff looks more dense then your 50gal aircrete mix? did you have to mix like 50 bags of cement for that slab?
This slab & dome is made of EPIC only no Aircrete. With the paper acting as the fibers and the eps foam in the mix for the insulation I don't think you need the rebar. I have a 10 X 10 shed I have to finish the slab and walls are made of all Aircrete.
No plasticizer added or latex. Having paper soaked in water in the cement means it takes longer for the cement to cure. When I'm ready to apply the next layer the first layer is still not fully cured yet so there is good adhesion with the new layer to the layer before it, also the texture helps also.
@whitemanbrownworld can you send me a link to what your speaking of with adding perlite and charcoal? Thanks . I'm super interested in affordable and durable means of building! Thanks again !
Interesting how you did small batches. Still it looked like it was done in less than one day by only one man's labor and nothing more than power hand tools.
I would’ve hoped you narrated the video. How big-around was the form? What did you use for the form? How much concrete did you need?

Damn Harry. I wish I could hire 5 workers like you.
Lol, thanks!
My Honey is a Working Machine, not even kidding !!
What a grafter you are fantastic work Harry
Thank You!!
Any problems with cold joints? Do you add any acrylic latex to increase adhesion?
Very nice. I like the giant egg beater.
Looking good.
Thanks!

What was this in the bag?
Paper mulch!

Thanks maybe you can come for a future workshop in 2020.
Sounds Great!!

Why not put the insulation stuff into the mix dry save some time and work
No one seems to bother about a damp course ??? not needed or just not needed in a very dry location ?
What is the name of the song?

Hello Harry, do you yet have a 2020 workshop calendar? Hoping I can make it if you're doing a start to finish build.
Send me an email. Aircreteharry@gmail.com
Number of bags of cement to create, Harry?
40 bags for the slab, 80 for the dome.
why not add any foam? Im guessing its not stable and will pop coz the constant movement during the day?

Looks good man. You are sure getting your money out of that poor drill.
That's a mortar mixer, it works great!
Do you add any plasticizer (to reduce water required, while increasing workability)?

Yes! your right one man with power tools can build it in a day. But I had Mrs Aircrete helping me with some of the build.
Super Determined & Dedicated - that's My Love!!
you must be from new york. . .the speed that you talk. . .must be a huge amount to say!
I have a lot to share.
you should change your name to epiccrete harry!
