I started doing my own installs because of subpar work from shops years ago. I'm getting ready to do an install on my new truck for that same reason but it's so nice to see an installer do the job right for a change. Wish I was closer I'd let you guys handle this job for me. Keep it up!
I completely agree with you Charlton Williams, I have taken my 2018 Camaro 2 different car audio shops. After paying top dollar for mediocre work at best, I've decided to learn car audio installation and fabrication from top to bottom. It's a work in progress as I've only experimented on my own 2018 Camaro without the premium sound. Too bad I live in Southern California and there is no good car audio shops in the Los Angeles area, go figure. I guess I'm just skeptical and tired of getting ripped off just to drive away with no better than stock audio to begin with. Otherwise I'd immediately and most defenetely have Five Star Car Stereo do my entire system. You guys are true professionals with awesome work. Hey Gene or Fernando, If either of you guys come to the Los Angeles area. Let me know, I'd pay you top dollar to install my system the right way once and for all. No Joke, Let me know... Thanks.
To contrast, Im on the other hand, feeling like im back in Jr High class is just droning on and on like Kevin on The Wonder Years in the class with the guy from Dry Eyes commercial. I JUST WANNA LEARN HOW TO HOOK MY OWN MUSIC UP!! (Very Knowledgable and thorough however bcuz. I had forgot I have to get a EQ for my system,,,, idk wtf a processor is tho. thats some new ssstuf. unless it goes to the camaro, in which case i may just chuck it all in the old school caddy...... If the trunk would close all the way. 😂🤣
Love the videos. We share exact same mindset. Was an active IASCA competitor in the early 90's (novice) and learned alot as a diy'er. Your comments that your ears are "what you are tuning for" are spot on. Would trust your shop fully to know how to keep the system "musical". Thank you and keep up the good work gents!
Chris Seng Naw, they don't need their own TV show. Network probably wouldn't allow them to get that indepth and there'd be B.S. time constraints. RUclips is better than TV ever was
CANNOT BELIEVE I'm seriously considering driving 1,117 miles (each way) to pay Fernando & Dean to improve upon my vehicle's audio system!!!! (~34 hours of total driving - NE OH)
I have the same plan I live in Michigan and have been seriously thinking about driving down staying a week so they have time for the install. Just bought a 22 ZL1 so I need the break-in miles anyways
Wow so clean!! Love to have this done to my 15 camaro (I'm in the Orlando area)! What do you guys usually charge for labor on a job like this? I'd love to have you guys go crazy on my car and my only requirement is that it sounded good and looked clean.
Taking EVERYTHING out like that would definitely give you the cleanest, easiest install but I hate when panels don't go back in right or cheap one time use plastic connectors break 😖
You guys do incredible work i am soooo impressed with your attention to detail. Would love you to do some work on my 1987 camaro iroc but unfortunately im in Toronto Canada. Love watching you guys do your stuff keep it up. Rob Matta
Hey.. Nice work here! Question.. How is the sub-bass performance with the factory head unit and the line level conversion through the Audio Control unit?
Good job guys, that dsp looks mean! I don’t know if kenwood make them or not but if they had an excelon 6x9 component would you prefer them to a 7” component or vise versa.
This is awesome. I've been waiting to watch you guys do a DSP! I just finished Roadkilling my doors and installing a 5-channel JL, miniDSP 6x8, 12" AudioFrog sub, and Hertz Energy's with Fast Rings in a fully active setup thanks to all of your videos. It would have taken you a day, but it took me four. :D
I like that I can use my computer to run it. Being able to use my Mac was the deciding factor over the JL TwK (these were the two in my budget range), and being able to use REW seemed really cool. After watching a few tutorials on setting up a DSP with REW, I've noticed that the Helix software seems to be a standard and also that it's pretty flexible. The miniDSP software is slightly less functional (i.e. I can't create pink noise in a specific frequency range), but will take the REW EQ settings and do everything else I need (active crossovers, time alignment, and EQ). I'm pretty happy with it. This AudioControl software looks awesome too. I like that it flattens out the input EQ. The biggest mystery was getting power to the miniDSP. I didn't realize I could just use a distribution block. So I got one of those, created nice connections with wire ferrules, and that was that.
This may be the start of customers demanding ALL Installers to video record their installs for customer to view later on, ultimately ensuring installer doesn't take shortcuts. Heck, maybe additional industries will follow; Auto Mechanics, Home Builders, Plumbers, Dentists, Surgeons, and hundreds more. They can wear body/head cams and verbally explain as they work. May sound crazy now but who knows what the future will bring.
Serious question. I'm picking up a 2020 camaro once they are released. I live in Michigan but I used to live in Tampa and I'm familiar with he area down there (lived in the apartments at Rocky Point). I like what you've done with this 17, very professional... If I drove down how many days would you need to do the same job? I have the amps, subs and speakers from my 2010 camaro. Pretty sure I could re-purpose most of my equipment... need the processor and wire and maybe a few other items?
So, if I wasn't distracted when I heard you say this, you connected the Sub RCA connections to the rear speaker wires that were already there instead of running them all the way up to the factory radio? I'm trying to find solutions for my own sub installation, I have a 2014 Audi A4 and it is very tight and complicated when it comes to wiring things up and making it look clean. I'm still deciding whether I want to run the RCA all the way up to the factory radio and use a Line Out Adapter to connect it, or if I just want to disconnect the rear trunk speaker wires and just run those to the subs instead. I'm pretty new to car audio but I really like stuff like this and would love to be able to hook it up on my own and have it look good and sound good. I've done a bunch of research on installing aftermarket speakers on A4's and haven't found much (might just be dumb and looking in the wrong places), but if anyone else has a A4 with subs, I would love to know how you hooked them up. Besides that, great video! I love watching them, you guys are audio geniuses. Thanks!!
BEAUTIFUL install, again, the wire/cabling work, impeccable! About how long did this install take, and when commissioned to do this job, how much prep work was needed?
I honestly greatly admire both of your knowledge on car audio. I can put together a very basic system and I recently put one in my escalade. Thanks to you guys, my cable management game was on point. I need to replace my stock speakers now as they distort pretty badly, which is odd because my tahoe didn't do that, which also had a stock bose system. I tried to blow my tahoe system and couldn't do it. However in the escalade, my door speakers sound awful at mid volume.... Anyhoo, are there any video's or books your recommend for the very basic beginner that delves into terminology, what parts do what, etc.? Thanks for the great vids boys!
I thought the rear signal on these cars was filtered from the factory. On the camaro6 forums, everyone recommends grabbing the speaker INPUT from the front passenger side foot-well area. I have a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE, the 1LE's are the only SS's without an amplifier and Active Noise Cancelling.
Hi guys, really enjoyed the vid, I wish I could’ve seen how you tapped in for the front speakers. I’ve been waiting for you guys to do a 2017 Chevy with the same head unit as mine. I hit you up on Facebook a few months ago I believe for advice on my 2017 Chevy Trax and I did as you said Dean and went with the RF punch 6.5” all around with speaker and harness adapters with the fast rings and slight door deadening. I also did the powered RF 12” sub like you suggested too. It sounds pretty good and I also tested the speaker outputs to see the response with my RTA app and got a similar response to what you guys did and compensated a bit with the punch EQ on the sub but on the head unit the bass I didn’t have to touch, I think I had to boost the mids slightly and the treble I had to take down a bit. I actually had to get the RF tweeter kit for the crossovers to allow me to attenuate to 4db because how it was originally the tweeters were overbearing and distorted before I could get the midrange to a nice clear loud volume but now everything sounds nice and balanced like it did with the stock system.
i love your video and the thoughts and decisions you put into the parts you picked and installed.....i got a '17 camaro with the premium bose, i have never been a fan of bose, too artificial for me.....you guys put a lot of thought into this, and i was wondering what you would recommend for getting better sound, im in mountain view CA, so im never gonna make the trip to you guys, but i was wondering what your thoughts where to upgrade my car....i like bass, i like infra bass im a home theater guy, and my two 16" SVS rumble the house rumble....i would like my car to do the same.....the trebles in my car is just ok, but i would like more detail out of them.....and hey if you know a good installer in the bay area please let me know ...thanks....awesome video....keep it up !
First of all I must say I love your videos. I have a question. When you said you are running speaker wire from amp to all speakers. How did you run it from amp to front door speakers? That harness on the side of the door sucks. I just ran my 16gauge wire from amp and then connected it to the harness in the car side. I would rather run it to the speaker itself. Please let me know what you did or did ya do the same thing as I did?
You guys are good! Are their any non-custom solutions ( i.e. harness or adapter) to upgrade the Camaro stereo that doesn't come with the oem amp? I'd like to install an amp.
hmmm i'm trying to figure out if there speakers will fit my Holden WL statesman, the front door pods are the exact same as the Pontiac GTO you have over there in the states
Hey guys great job you do. I have a 2018 Camaro with Bose system. I'm looking to put 7" front speakers and was wondering if the rear sides and rear deck speakers add to the listening experience and if so, whether I should put both sides and rear deck speakers in or just the side speakers or the rear deck speakers in
The 18 we just did we keep all the speaker location. We did Morel 6x9 components up front, 6.5 and 6x9 coaxial in the rear. We kept the center speaker. The customer loved it.
Hey thanks for the input, Also if you could what is the center speaker for ,also I looked up Morel speakers on Cruthchfield and none of them were listed as something that could fit
Not going with an active crossover is kind of a waste of a DSP. If I have a 5 channel to work with, I will keep the rears powered off the deck, and use 4 channels on the amp for the front mids and tweeters. You lose a lot of adjustment that you gain with a DSP if you go with passive crossovers.
I love the way you install upgrades to car stereos very professional, no mickey mouse wiring connections.I just bought a brand new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE w/ JBL speakers & navigation, have you done any upgrades to this model like speakers, amps & adding Audio Control eq?
Hey man! Really good job! I mean the best! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I have a question though? How much did it cost to make this kinda set up? I would love to hear to your reply. Thank you so much!
Have you all installed any double din radios on 4th gen Firebirds/Trans Ams? If so do you have any tips or things to look out for? I'm going to attempt to install a AVH-4200NEX in my 98 Trans AM..
First time seeing the load things. Gunna be looking into that. Always had thought about that issue of load. But figured it was just something not real. Nice to know I wasnt wrong. I enjoy your videos. Your attention to detail an deminer in the videos keeps me subscribed. As a fellow installer myself I strive for this next level of installation. Great job explaining a slightly complicated dsp. They work amazing but not for the first time installer. Just my thought. Interested to know if by turning down the bass on the head unit effect anything other then clarity. Did you have to compasate in the dsp for that drop at all? Again great video awsome editing. 👍👍
hello , i have a 2012 chevy traverse and trying to hook up an aftermarket amp to my factory radio, im also using a L.O.C. and also new speakers in the doors, but im having trouble running wires when there is a electronic plug in the door jamb... do you have any videos of you doing a traverse of that year or 1 similar with same wire colors and where they are located... thanks in advance
Nice to see professionals who enjoy their work. Your expertise is worth paying for!
I started doing my own installs because of subpar work from shops years ago. I'm getting ready to do an install on my new truck for that same reason but it's so nice to see an installer do the job right for a change. Wish I was closer I'd let you guys handle this job for me. Keep it up!

Dean u are lucky to have Fernando, who is very flexible into that Camaro.I am happy you both work together, like brothers.
Yes I’m am very grateful, he is a hard worker like me.
Thanks for the tip on removing the bungee from the front pillar, that should be helpful!
You guys attention to detail is out of this world, it's amazing you guys made a mount for the hitch
Thank so much ,for taking the time to answer back.I know the questions may seem silly .
I would 100% trust you guys with my install. Great job guys.
Thank you
One of the cleanest and smartest installs I've ever seen.
Y’all need your own tv show , awesome once again .
Chris Seng Naw, they don't need their own TV show. Network probably wouldn't allow them to get that indepth and there'd be B.S. time constraints. RUclips is better than TV ever was
Grant Tobgo good point , I’ve made comments before stating that D&F are better than any tv shows .
You guys are the most professional car audio guys I've ever seen. Very detailed. Keep up the good work and the great videos. 👍🏼👍🏼
Cool to see your options for a new car while keeping the factory head unit. Keep up the great work guys!
Thank you, will do
How do you guys get a signal for the new 5 channel amp in an install like this? Does the factory headunit have rca outputs??
THAT is a top notch install!! Your wiring makes me happy.
DM-608 is amazing. I had one in my 2015 Charger and I plan on installing it in my 2015 Camaro!
Great description of the tuning process. That's what I like to see
You gentleman's are truly gifted 👍👍
Thank you👍👍👍
It is really great to see real professionals at work.
Thank you so much
3:10...where Fernando's physical stature is an asset.
Yes totally!!!👍
CANNOT BELIEVE I'm seriously considering driving 1,117 miles (each way) to pay Fernando & Dean to improve upon my vehicle's audio system!!!! (~34 hours of total driving - NE OH)
Wow I was thinking the same thing just went to Google maps like "it's not that bad"
This helped me with the front center and front right speakers. I wish you guys would've shown how to get the front left speaker out.
You guys do nice work thanks for sharing the install.
I mean u guys have your PhD in music 🎶 installation.. Great job.
Great work, I have the same Camaro and I was amazed how you guys were able to get in that trunk lol.
Thanks for this video!!! I have the same exact camaro getting ready to upgrade the sound system.
Very cool!
Wish I could afford that new ZL1 and then have this same setup but with A LOT more power! Nice work as usual!
Me too!
Absolute sick install as always! Your attention to detail is crazy!
Taking EVERYTHING out like that would definitely give you the cleanest, easiest install but I hate when panels don't go back in right or cheap one time use plastic connectors break 😖
You know your stuff man, nice work!! Anyone would be lucky to have you work for them.
would you recommend to use the dm-608 or the lc7i? also does the lc7i restore bass like the epicenter?
You fuckin saved my night in the bay
Been trying figure out the tweeter for hours
Thanks guys
Guys I like to try and learn things but at the end of the day I would really like to hear the entire system especially the bass!!! Thanks
You guys do incredible work i am soooo impressed with your attention to detail. Would love you to do some work on my 1987 camaro iroc but unfortunately im in Toronto Canada. Love watching you guys do your stuff keep it up. Rob Matta

Yes I would! But the 7” are nice because they will fit in most 6.5” spots

Great video Dean and Fernando!. Question how did you resolve the high chime sound issue many camaro owner's face after adding an aftermarket amp?
This is awesome. I've been waiting to watch you guys do a DSP! I just finished Roadkilling my doors and installing a 5-channel JL, miniDSP 6x8, 12" AudioFrog sub, and Hertz Energy's with Fast Rings in a fully active setup thanks to all of your videos. Watching this makes me want to drive the 14 hours to Clearwater and get you to do me a system in my car
And here I thought I was crazy for buying a 2017 and immediately deciding I need to replace the head unit.
This is just next level. I am a bit dubious though of that back door speakers, OEM mounted onto the plastic door panel instead of onto metal.?
Second Skin is the best sound deadener in my opinion. But I gotta try the stuff you use.
Where was the subwoofer install? I missed it. Great video!
Ever had any problems with those camaros an the voltage spiking when the bass would hit?
How good is that factory deck? Is there even a way to install an aftermarket deck in those 17s yet?
Dude the back deck would be worth doin a fiber glass wall build to single 18 sub all component speakers in kicks and doors etc
Serious question. I'm picking up a 2020 camaro once they are released. I live in Michigan but I used to live in Tampa and I'm familiar with he area down there (lived in the apartments at Rocky Point). I like what you've done with this 17, very professional... I have the amps, subs and speakers from my 2010 camaro. Pretty sure I could re-purpose most of my equipment... need the processor and wire and maybe a few other items?
Looking for a reputable custom install in the Chicago area…I need to do anything and everything to make this stereo sound as great as the car sounds
Great build guys!
Thank you
Much respect. Great video. Great install.
That space on the left side of the trunk is where the bose sub would go
Looks like you guys do a great job.
BEAUTIFUL install, again, the wire/cabling work, impeccable! About how long did this install take, and when commissioned to do this job, how much prep work was needed?
It took 2 days. We ( me) usually spend several hours talking over the system with the customer. Making sure what we do is a fit for the customer.
How much is that package?
"The little fangies" favorite line!
Even though this install looks awesome ... Why did you not use that " waist of space " you pointed out ?
I have the same car ,where You guys are located ,and how much did You charge for this job ,is awesome
Yes a new upload!!!
Thank you
Hi guys, really enjoyed the vid, I wish I could’ve seen how you tapped in for the front speakers. Very cool, thank you for sharing 😄
I may have missed it but where did you end up grabbing your full range hi level signal from?
i love your video and the thoughts and decisions you put into the parts you picked and installed.....i got a '17 camaro with the premium bose, i have never been a fan of bose, too artificial for me.....you guys put a lot of thought into this, and i was wondering what you would recommend for getting better sound, im in mountain view CA, so im never gonna make the trip to you guys, but i was wondering what your thoughts where to upgrade my car....i like bass, i like infra bass im a home theater guy, and my two 16" SVS rumble the house rumble....i would like my car to do the same.....the trebles in my car is just ok, but i would like more detail out of them.....and hey if you know a good installer in the bay area please let me know ...thanks....awesome video....keep it up !
Amazing Job! . By any chance do you have a store/shop in Orlando?
Looks nice if you have what extra 3-4k I'm assuming you guys charged for all this?
How was the bass signal on the front speakers compared to the rear? I put my loc on rear, I should move them to the front?
how much did you charge for this install? I have the same car
clean work
Amazing job guys.
Zero dislikes so far says alot.
Cheers.
Thank you, there will always be hatters
You guys are good! Are their any non-custom solutions ( i.e. harness or adapter) to upgrade the Camaro stereo that doesn't come with the oem amp? I'd like to install an amp.
it is the return of the Dodge Intrepid dash panel!!!!!
hmmm i'm trying to figure out if there speakers will fit my Holden WL statesman, the front door pods are the exact same as the Pontiac GTO you have over there in the states
I thought SMD installs were strange. I understand why you take the easy way...
My 1st shock is why not install the correct size speakers. The door speakers are to big the dash high end are to small.
Open the DM. .that thing is far to big
Are the tweeters on this camaro connected to the door speakers with a passive high pass filter or do they have their own signal from the stock stereo?
Did you ever find out?
@@brianmurry2281 for the 6 speaker system no amp in trunk they take signal from the door speakers
Hola Fernando y Dean, ya han publicado el vídeo del Porche con Focal 3 vías? Saludos
Where do you get those light bars you guys hang off the roof of the car in your installs?
LoudMercury eBay
Not going with an active crossover is kind of a waste of a DSP. If I have a 5 channel to work with, I will keep the rears powered off the deck, and use 4 channels on the amp for the front mids and tweeters. You lose a lot of adjustment that you gain with a DSP if you go with passive crossovers.
Does the Dm-608 have a built in 'clip' so you can set the gains... or do you still use the DD-1?
I love the way you install upgrades to car stereos very professional, no mickey mouse wiring connections.I just bought a brand new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE w/ JBL speakers & navigation, have you done any upgrades to this model like speakers, amps & adding Audio Control eq?

Have you all installed any double din radios on 4th gen Firebirds/Trans Ams? If so do you have any tips or things to look out for? I'm going to attempt to install a AVH-4200NEX in my 98 Trans AM..
2 in dash speakers? This car seems like some audiofrog GBs would be perfect with some modification haha
Dean where did your source the foam you used on the rear deck. Looks like a version of a FAST ring.
would you recommend to use the dm-608 or the lc7i
First time seeing the load things. Gunna be looking into that. Always had thought about that issue of load. But figured it was just something not real. Nice to know I wasnt wrong. Dean you're negative! 5:17 at first I swore that was a spark when you touched the battery terminal. Probably just light though.
To funny
I saw that too! I thought I was just me. 😂
It wasn’t just the light?

Nice video Dean but I have a question.

Just wondering. Lol
