Trains at the Swanston Street, South Geelong Level Crossing - Victorian Transport

In this video we visit Swanston Street, no not Melbourne's busy world-famous Swanston Street tram corridor, but Swanston Street in South Geelong where we find a level crossing. V/Line services on the Geelong Line pass through this level crossing, including those heading to and from Waurn Ponds where we see the usual V/Line Vlocity DMU's. Interestingly however the level crossing is also used by trains that terminate at the nearby South Geelong station on weekdays.
Trains that terminate at South Geelong station do so using a turnback siding but only a three car train can fit in it without activating the level crossing or fouling the mainline. Six car trains therefore travel over the level crossing to use the remainder of the siding on the other side to turn back. As a result we see trains on both tracks over the level crossing. I was originally going to include these clips in my Trains at South Geelong video but I thought that this level crossing was interesting enough to warrant its own video.
This current arrangement won't be around for too much longer as the line from South Geelong to Waurn Ponds is being partially duplicated, including an upgraded South Geelong station with a second platform. This will see the existing turnback siding converted to a through line for trains heading towards Waurn Ponds.
