Thanks! I have the same lens, but on mine the problem is rather the autofocus suddenly not working. Do you have any clue if it could be a flex cable also there? Thanks
I don't think that it is caused by the flex cable, because the cable doesn't move during zooming or autofocusing. Most likely the HSM motor is dead, less likely the problem is with the PCB.
Sigma 18-35/1.8?: I have never ever had that lens. Quite rare and new lens, and I don't think I will have a faulty which needs to be repaired in the near future.
I wonder how similar this is to the 18-300. I've had mine repaired by Sigma twice, and again one of the rail screws, I think, has come loose, locking the zoom mechanism.
I haven't disassembled Sigma 18-300 yet. If you want to tighten the screws, usually it is the easier part of repairing lenses, because you don't have to disassemble the whole lens. Mostly just remove the rear cover, PCB, and the zoom-, and mid lens cover tube. Then you have access to the screws inside the lens.
I need to do this job on a 28-300mm DG Macro which has been damaged by the previous owner while trying to repair it after he dropped it. My problem is that I can't find anyone to sell me a replacement cable. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
If the lens has dust between the first and the second lens element, then the cleaning process of the lens is very similar to cleaning the Sigma 17-50 or 17-70 or 18-125mm lenses... check those videos on my channel.
I have a Sigma 18-300 Lens with recent water damage. After watching your Disassembly of the Sigma 18-250 Video, I'd like to know if you have a video for the 18-300 OR you could tell me the differences I might see when taking apart (and putting back together) my 18-300. Appreciate the advice! Thanks In Advance.
Hi there! I have a SIGMA 18-125 DC that has aperture issues. I bet it is also due to a faulty flex cable. The question is, where can I buy a new one? Thanks for the video!

@@CamerasLensesEtc Well if I do it, I'm gonna use some thread lock when I reassemble!
The apature on my 18-250 has failed wide open. Do you offer the repair as a service?
No, I don't repair lenses for clients.
@@CamerasLensesEtc I've taken the plunge and purchased the flex cable. Wish me luck! 🤞
Thank you very much!!! Good luck !!!

You can check ebay or aliexpress, or buy the same lens in non-working condition with a good flat cable, and use that as a donor.

I haven't disassembled the Sigma 18-300 lens, so I can't answer your questions.
Could you please make a tutorial about cleaning fungus of Nikon 18-300mm?
I can't: I don't repair Nikon lenses.

You can buy the cable on eBay. As I saw, there are two or three kinds of cable, so make sure you order the right one. (Or order both cables. :) )
you may find it on eBay
