This song shouldn't be hidden at all.
Wow. This is as good as anything he's ever composed. Top form. This tugs at my heart strings like no other song I've heard in the longest time. Half a century later, still doing it beautifully.
He still writes beautiful songs, despite his more limited vocal range. It brings me to tears.

Holy shit, I've always called Paul McCartney an Entertainer, not like John Lennon in terms of Song writing, I've never been so wrong in my life.
He gets downplayed all the time...
He did write more genuine, heartfelt songs about his true emotions. Listen, for example, to these:

- How Kind of You (about his thankfulness for someone who helped him when he was down)
- Little Willow (a song to comfort deceased Maureen Cox’s children)
- Lonely Road (about his fear for loneliness and pain; he lost Linda)

- Maybe I'm Amazed (about his overwhelming love for Linda)
- Let Me Roll It (I see this as his mature, conciliatory answer to John Lennon's hateful song How Do You Sleep)

Paul is singing about his relationship with Nancy Shevel. The line "The first we met, there were tears in our eyes" refers to Paul seeing Nancy at the 1998 memorial service for Linda that was held in New York City (Nancy knew Linda from when the McCartneys would spend part of their summers in the Hamptons). But it would take another nine years and their subsequent divorces before they became a couple.
Apparently, she didn't feel the same way.
I just heard this for the first time. I like the ending. It's bold and chilling.

This song for me (lifelong beatles fan) stands out a mile above the rest, though there are some good moments on the new album. A piano ballad with a strong, beautiful and touching melody. Macca keep doing this sort of stuff.

I find it interesting that he named this "Scared" since there is a John Lennon song of the same name on "Walls and Bridges". I'm sure someone will find a way to mix the two together to create one of those artificial Beatles songs that wishful thinking technies often do.

i cant believe you would say Ringo doesn't count. Ok so he didnt have as much of an impact as the others, but he was still a beatle. He was very humble and didnt leave just because his music wasnt getting played. Not to mention he was a very talented musician and an incredible drummer. He adapted to the ways of Paul and John wanted him to play, and they were always changing. Ringo never got the credit he deserves

His love for John, George, and Ringo is one of a more brotherly love with Johns being special because of the parallels in their lives by losing their mothers less than a year of each other and ironically their fathers passed less than a couple of months from each other in 1976.

Yes, he said it was about his feeling for Nancy. I only think it's strange he saying about the first time he met her....Because Linda was alive when it happened. Nancy was Linda's sort of friend. So he fell in love with her while still married to Linda? Now.,...it indeed sounds a bit like Imagine in the introduction and he mentions the stars, written in the stars as John also said in Woman. It may be about Nancy, who knows? But John's influence can't be denied. They are still connected. The most important is: the song is amazing.
No, Nancy and Linda knew each other but Nancy and Paul didn't really meet until after Linda had died. Nancy's first words to Paul was, "I knew Linda ... "
Hence the lyric - "I remember the first time we met, tears in our eyes reflecting" because they were both discussing their memories of Linda.

It's on any version of the deluxe cd in North America, its just not listed. It's not on the iTunes deluxe version or the Japanese Deluxe Version with a different song instead

I had the same reaction about the Lennon song. But there have been similar instances in Paul's previous work, like "Hold Me Tight" on Red Rose Speedway- there is of course a song with the same title on the Beatles first (American) LP. Meet the Beatles. Don't know whether Paul intended that to be any sort of comment on anything or whether it was simply a random choice of a title.

John never was able to do anything like that. Because of that he always envied to Paul and critisised his best songs like Obladi-Oblada, which he called "granny Paul's shit", Yesterday and others. None of his songs that his fans call "the best" may be campared to any song of Paul who is a real genius. Paul is the best!!!

Paul is one of the best musicians alive and i haven't heard this album yet and it sounds like a good album, but he will never be able to an album as good as a Beatles album....he's really but he will never be good as all the Beatles together ( Ringo doesn't count :P )

Very disappointing album. This is a good song however -probably the best on the album. mcCartney isnt very good at choosing singles. Queenie's Eye is a flop. He should release this.
New is a very good albun.
