  • This is a Marklin 4158/4/94 dampfmaschine steam engine twin cylinder compound plant of ca1910-1912 that is Available for Purchase.
This 4158 twin cylinder compound engine is found in the Marklin catalogs of 1910-12. The 4158 model engine was offered for many years in 2 sizes of 7cm and 11cm diameter boiler mantles until the 1930s when a midsize engine of 9cm diameter boiler mantle was added to the series. The 4158 compound steam engine is one of Marklin's most popular and successful engines. This particular example was found in very poor non-running original condition, but was refurbished to running condition as shown. This 4158 has a fixed eccentric valve gear that allows the engine to run only in the forward direction. Originally, this engine had a spirits burner fitted into the plant base and it had a Marklin 3394 dyno on the existing original wood dyno base that made this engine a working generating plant. On the h74 channel you can see a Marklin 5148/9/94 plant driving a Marklin 3394/1 dyno which is powering a Mesco 1011 electric engine.

You are correct...it is noisy because the valve timing has not been adjusted since the engine was reassembled. Thanks for your comment.
