it’s probably uncommon for a 20 year old, like myself, to find a deep liking in this song. especially with today’s music; this is a song that deserves to be heard by all. i play this for every occasion, it’s so majestic to me !
This is simply one of those 'mind blowing songs' that is just so good, as good (if not better) than anyone was doing at that time -- Britain or USA. My opinion. Obscure but no less amazing. My opinion. It was the same year I was born, but I only found this 2 years ago.
Haha, you 51. But I (16 year old German person) have to agree. Partly. I must say, that I think, the Beatles had some good things going on and Led Zeppelin of course... Also, Space Oddity by David Bowie came out in the same year, wich is one of my absolute favourites. But all those things are not comparable... They all have a different energy. But goood energies.
OH MY GOD! thank you thank you thank you! I had the Circus Days album many years ago and this was my favourite track. I've been looking for this for donkey's years :)
Jonathan Edward Kennett AKA Sonny Worthing (check out his recordings) is alive and well and now resides in Worthing with his good wife Caroline. If memory serves me well this was recorded in the Apple studios.I spent many an hour with JK in the studio in Worthing called Pebble Beech and recorded some great tracks that went on to be big hits in Australia for John Swann aka Swannee.JK wrote a song called One step Away and is featured on Australias biggest selling album called Whispering Jack for John Farnham.
I have been told JK has passed away which is so sad, he was an area manager for an equipment supplier which is how I met him, he had some great stories to tell, what I didn't realise is that sitting in my office was sonnyworthing! I am truly gutted I lost contact with him, now I spend my time listening to his music and researching him on the web.
@@leesawyer5623 thats such a nice way to remember JK, I had some great laughs with him, I really didn't take it on board how talented he was, what a shame. I am gutted I never took more interest in him whilst he was alive.
When Alice came to the house in the country With the pain of love, she would leave her way She made a home in a gold shadowed valley But her emptiness turned the gold to grey She would stay there Everyday there She would be She'd had a love long ago in the city But the bird had flown in an ice blue sky That other world crashing pieces around her And she left with the love on a trip to die There was she there all alone there Alice cried And then all through the valley Came the autumn wind, and then the snow And all around the hills were shadowed black And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon Her heart was cold and warmth never came back And so With head as heavy as a millstone And her eyes a raging glacier She went down to find her love But all in vain And so With head as heavy as a millstone And her eyes a raging glacier She went down to find her love But all in vain When once again summer came with a glimmer And in hand with her soul, Alice walked alive She stumbled over a fence in a meadow She went down to the yard, and her soldiers walked away There was she there lying up there Alice would wait And then all through the valley Came the autumn wind, and then the snow And all around the hills were shadowed black And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon Her heart was cold and warmth never came back And so With head as heavy as a millstone And her eyes a raging glacier She went down to find her love But all in vain And so With head as heavy as a millstone And her eyes a raging glacier She went down to find her love But all in vain And so...
Thanks for these. I've been trying to memorize this song on & off over the past year. But where you had "and her soldiers walked away" is actually "and her soul just walked away". To my ears anyway. [:-)]
@ferlbahoo Thanks very much... it's good to know people are getting to hear these great, rarely heard tunes...i'm learning new (old) stuff all the time.

Were you and Plum also on Happy Valley, Annie Rocket and Bond Street Union singles?

Sadly JK did pass away such a talented man,and now is son Jonny is having a baby boy and calling him Sonny as a tribute to his dad.

Hell yes
Outstanding
When Alice came to the house in the country
With the pain of love, she would leave her way
She made a home in a gold shadowed valley
But her emptiness turned the gold to grey
She would stay there
Everyday there
She would be
She'd had a love long ago in the city
But the bird had flown in an ice blue sky
That other world crashing pieces around her
And she left with the love on a trip to die
There was she there
all alone there
Alice cried
And then all through the valley
Came the autumn wind, and then the snow
And all around the hills were shadowed black
And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon
Her heart was cold and warmth never came back
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
When once again summer came with a glimmer
And in hand with her soul, Alice walked alive
She stumbled over a fence in a meadow
She went down to the yard, and her soldiers walked away
There was she there
lying up there
Alice would wait
And then all through the valley
Came the autumn wind, and then the snow
And all around the hills were shadowed black
And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon
Her heart was cold and warmth never came back
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so...

Track 06 Stars - Auntie Annie's Place please post this track!!!!!
popsike is trippy pop
No it's not...it can incorporate many different pop styles.
Circus Days actually did knock out Rubbles in a way.. Rubbles did relapse in the same labels and mood in a certain way.. Bless the Circus Days
sad that Jonathan Kennett died.
Do you know when he died, id known JK for some time but lost contact.
I never knew him personally but I got in touch with david plummer to ask about the band and he said that JK passed a while back
