Perfect 80’s house. So funny everyone you say what’s up in the mirror I always wink back. LOL Your so fun to watch with the walk through home tours. Stay awesome and true to yourself!
I always appreciate when you pause the camera on the decor items - especially like the odd retro original wallpaper in the kitchen. Stay warm, spring is coming.
If you ever lived in a country house . You would find out linoleum was the way to go . We lived in several houses with those wonderful floors . We had hardwood floors in living room and dining room with oval braided area rugs . You could sweep and mop the house so easy . We had small area rugs by the beds . Don't knock linoleum until you try it .
I like that you don't heavily edit your videos for perfection. I think your candid in the moment thoughts help connect us the audience to you and your videos. Sunflower and green kitchen scream 80s early 90s!
Having lived through the 80s as a young child, I remember there being strange ways of decorating, I.e. carpet in the bathroom, ugly linoleum and other crazy things. It’s hard to believe that people thought that looked good. 😬
I know an older couple but does have Seventies home And they have carpet in their bathroom seriously I don't know who ever came up with that and So again there's like water from the shower in the tub who knows I'm not saying it hasn't been cleaned and I don't know how many years that it's ugly Orange carpet and I'm sure lots of mold and who knows what else
Whatever you think is stylish now will look the same to someone looking at it 30 years from now. They’ll say, “what were these ppl thinking “ true story
A great video, Ethan. and amazing to find a house that isn't trashed. That claw foot bathtub is something I always thought would be cool, except they weigh a ton and are next to impossible to move! I'm wondering if flooding was due to hydro being cut and sump pump not working? Only because this happened at a friend's cottage over the winter.
Hi Ethan, that is an odd house. The line above the claw foot tub is a built in clothesline. Usually you only see these in hotel rooms. This house had vinyl floors where there should have been carpet and vice versa. Interesting though!
Too bad the basement was flooded, probably water from the flooded yard. Being from southeast Texas we don’t have basements so that is always interesting to me how they can flood like that. Must have really been a cool house at one time. Love that kitchen wallpaper that must have been hidden behind something.
Cute little house. I wonder if some family lived their entire life there. Like the fireplace. Bedrooms were tiny and the floors rather blah. Why would anyone ever think it ok to carpet a bathroom. Too bad the basement was flooded might have been cool down there. Can’t believe there were no trees on that huge expanse of land. Would have been cute refurbished but c’est la vie. Thanks for the tour Ethan. Take care and keep safe.
They had some interesting color choices. The claw foot tub was so cool. The rug in the bathroom, I’m with you on the NO, just NO …. part! Thanks for another fun tour!
Pretty decent size home and property, so totally 70s /early 80s with a lot of commonly used decorative materials. With some hints of the wallpaper behind the paint, I'm guessing it may have been decorated in the popular Early American decor, that was everywhere during that era .eWe had the typical brown wood doors and trim everywhere, we also had those which ceiling fans with the gold paintef desin Some choices of updates though, like the marble border, and linoleum in the bedrooms, not the best of choices. I'm sure it was a really nice and comfortable home when it was newer. Always sad to see fall t8 ruin🙁✌️
You stay safe too Ethan. Not a bad house. Carpet in the bathroom is gross. Flooded yard leaked into the basement. I'd rather have carpet in my room too. Hi to Angelo.
As a child of the 1960s I can assure you that house was built before the 1980s. It may have had updates in the 1980s . It may have had updates in the 80s. But other designs in the home like the spindles in the opening between the living room and entrance way is totally early 1970s. My parents built a home in 1969 I see many similarities in this home to homes in the neighborhood that was brand new where our home was built in 1969. The design of the sink in the bathroom and the faucets totally early 70s. The light fixture lin there totally early 79s. The carpeting in the closet the same. Those thermostats have t been updated since the 70s either. Although many things have been. The outside air conditioning unit was from the early 80s. But of course there’s no way the air con would have lasted from the 70s either.
Just remember we are seeing through the Len's so be careful not to move around so much so fast like ar one point in the kitchen you were moving the camera back and forth pretty fast and was kinda dizzying. Sound is good.
Yep that's definitely an '80s house. I have been in many over the years that haven't been updated especially when I was looking for a new house. I did bypass them because of the work that involves. Linoleum in the bedrooms are not uncommon. I've never lived in once they had it but I've heard of it. It's just easier to take care of and you don't have to worry about replacing it ever if you didn't want to. But obviously the sump pump quit working in that house and I wouldn't go in that basement either cuz you don't know what you're walking into. It doesn't look like the house had electricity so that's part of the problem. Thanks for the share.
The cluster of thermostats......probably controlled different zones of the home. Many people would use vinyl tiles or rolled lino. to cover the new subfloors. To keep them from being stained. Many homeowners could do that themselves. It was a durable usable floor for years. Also was much less expensive than ceramic or carpet. Many people with allergies can not live with carpet. Later they could get carpet or ceramic or hardwood. A way to really keep initial cost down. I wonder if a damn or resivoir may have been built or broken to cause such flooding. Not a bad little hiuse.
no more snow ❄️ Spring is coming it has to Ethan its going to be at least in the 60 s next week here in WI . i also think most of all the homes , that you us on has huge backyards or land 🏠🏠i am sure that the fan seen better days lol . thank you for taking all of us on your house adventures
Carpeting in the bathroom tells me that possibly an elderly person primarily used that bathroom. Because slip and falls occur mostly in bathrooms, that carpet only served as protection for someone who was a bit frail and/or prone to falls. I once lived in an apartment where carpet was in both bathrooms, not thick by any means, but I hated it. And was told that it was to prevent slip and falls with residents.
Hey Ethan, I think that’s the longest you ever spent in a garage😅I wonder if they had a waterbed in the master. The way the outlines were on the carpet 🤷🏻♀️They were certainly a thing in the 80’s. Great property. Oh, I hope you answer this What color was that claw foot tub? Red or?It sorta looked brassy red. Whatever it was different. Gotta love having a claw foot. Thanks Ethan
When you look at a human habitat abandoned like this it kind of puts into perspective how short life really is and how mortal humans really are. But we sure don't feel like it do we 🥂
Ethan what a walk down memory lane, I grew up in a five bedroom cape cod in the 70s and 80s, and out in the country. My parents worked their butts off keeping our house beautiful. My dad had a garage like that except ours was not connected to the house. The large ladder would have been used to clean out the chimney. I love videos like this , thank you .
That was an interesting house. I don’t think I’ve seen a main bathroom in an 80’s house with just a tub and no shower. The master bathroom had a shower but who wants everyone else using your shower? I imagine with that pad in the master bedroom it had a waterbed sitting on it. A little extra support was sometimes needed and you could see they couldn’t move the bed when they painted the room. I don’t think I’ve seen linoleum in the bedrooms and carpet in the bathroom before. Our house from the 70’s had carpet in the bathroom but the subfloor was concrete. We were very careful about drying off in the tub and not stepping out with wet feet. It was just my aunt and me . When the carpet was replaced later she had linoleum put in the bathroom. My bedroom had orange burlap on the walls. It had been the model home for that floor plan.
I think there are so many thermostats/ humidifier controls because people didn't want repair the drywall if they were removed. I had to repair a few holes when I got rid of the old ones from when my house was built in 1979. Great video. Thanks
I liked the Fireplace and that Claw foot tub.. That tub took me back to my childhood in the 70's and 80's.. Thank you Ethan for another amazing video..
I never heard.... And I watch all your vlogs..... Ethan, did you ever find a house to buy? You are so great at what you do! I love your appreciation for older buildings. Wow, I was very small in the 80's so many of my parents friends were buying new 80's homes and the layout/style captures so many of those homes. It would have been even better if the living room with the bay window was sunken in! I still have a soft spot for sunken in rooms. I think it was lovely though.. Likely the pond out front *which is what it looks like* caused the basement flooding.. While their taste was different from mine on the flooring sometimes we make do with what is affordable or convenient - the linoleum flooring. Children can wreak havoc on flooring (and pets). I have bamboo flooring throughout my house and honestly it may be beautiful when cleaned daily but even in city limits the dust and pollen and dirt everyone drags in daily makes it a task for all the rooms to live up to their potential, thank goodness for area rugs. Hi Ethan I think this is a nice house. I thought it was bigger, I thought it had a second floor. When you said that’s it I was surprised. The house had good size rooms but I wouldn’t have chosen those floors in that house. EW🤮 yuk. It’s too bad that the basement was flooded. They are going to build apartments out there in the boone docks. Anyway it was a nice house and I enjoyed exploring with you and Angelo. Very cool. Stay safe and warm out there.❤
Maybe the floors were flooded so they ripped up the wet carpet. LOL I guess we will never know why they did what they did in that bathroom. I bet they had a reason. I wonder if the whole foundation shifted, perhaps because of the flooding. Or a sink hole even. It would have been a nice little house. I try not to judge other peoples houses according to my standards. However, that kitchen is way too small. I would have had to tear it all out and remodel. Looks like late 70's, early 80's to me. Good morning Ethan awesome video I’m sure it was beautiful back in the day. The claw foot tub love it but carpeted in the bathroom no you don’t do that. Light fixtures in the kitchen are cute. Thank you for taking us along. Have a great day 😊
Ethan thank you for sharing. Keep up the good work I feel in my heart though this house isn’t a creepy house to me it’s a typical family farm house that was well lived in and used throughout the years and perhaps tried to self update it in ways. Just my opinion, you take care and have a great safe rest of your day stay warm🤠
This looks more like it was built in the later 60's early 70's with that bay window, the spindles in the livingroom area and the wallpaper in the kitchen. The wood doors also look like that era. That being said, there is definitely a lot of 80's there.
I'm betting the house was built in the 60's and "updated" in the 80's. Wallpaper borders were very big in the 80's but based on the wallpaper exposed when the kitchen cabinet by the sink was removed, that screams 60's.
I have a kid with asthma. We had to have as little carpet as possible. Also, when you live on a farm or in the country, linoleum is the way to go. You frequently get into mud. I don't own any carpet, either. In fact I ripped it all out when purchasing my house.
There’s a lot of waste in your area in terms of letting perfecting good structures sit and decay and then just destroy them. I thought the US was bad. Damn. Makes me sad looking at these houses honestly.
Ethan, this is Terrible The place is my worst nightmare its been leno in the Bedrooms and carpet in the bathroom ha! And the makeshift yard pond that flooded the basement yep, and the unstable garage foundation. Maybe a they build Golf course on those acres and acres of land. Cheers for the tour
With a flooded yard and basement... That is probably why the house has foundation problems...
Perfect 80’s house. So funny everyone you say what’s up in the mirror I always wink back. LOL Your so fun to watch with the walk through home tours. Stay awesome and true to yourself!
Dave started a traditional and Ethan pick it up and run with it.

It's probably one of the most durable floors ever made. As far as artificial goes. Nothing beats real wood. But everyone's pockets aren't that deep.
@No games. I totally agree with you!
I like that you don't heavily edit your videos for perfection.

Hi Ethan, that is an odd house. The line above the claw foot tub is a built in clothesline. Usually you only see these in hotel rooms. This house had vinyl floors where there should have been carpet and vice versa. Interesting though!

Nice fireplace in living room.

Maybe the kept horses, or farmed a small-ish area. Or kept goats or something. Lots of room.
My grandmother’s house had carpeting on the bathroom floor. I think that was a popular thing to do in the 70s.

Hi Ethan 👋 I really love this home ❤️ Thank you for sharing it with us 😊Great video Ethan 👍Have a wonderful day 😎
Oh my I would live there ,love the linoleum floors,we always had them so easy to keep clean.👍❤️🇺🇸
Cute light fixture in dining area. What a tiny sink other than that reminds me a bit of my family kitchen sink in the 1970s
You stay safe too Ethan. Not a bad house. Carpet in the bathroom is gross. Flooded yard leaked into the basement. I'd rather have carpet in my room too. Hi to Angelo.
It was nice hot yesterday here in NC,But it is rainy and little chilly.

That line in the bathroom that you thought might be for a showerhead is not it is a clothesline to hang clothes on
That room with the carpet left under the bed ABSOLUTELY had an old school waterbed 🤣
Minus the basement, that house is in good condition for a abandoned home, and very clean.
Nice place to bad it's falling apart, then being torn down 😢

They probably painted the outside of that claw foot tub. My mom painted the outside of hers a purple color.
Not much to this house,no mirrors for what's up u guys😞.but you did a great job

Great video Ethan
The lighting is a bit low in some areas
Looks like there was a pool at one time
The camera work is really good. Not jumpy. To be honest I didn't realise you had switched cameras until you said. Great vid as always.
Thanks for the tour.
That would be a cute house if it was fixed up and updated! I love the fireplace and laundry room!

How strange carpet in the bathroom and tiles in the bedroom, nope, cheers for another one Ethan x
nice exploration! dont know if your asked this a lot but whats your equipment for recording?
People put big boulders in their yards in the 80's. Great video. Thanks
Maybe the floors were flooded so they ripped up the wet carpet. LOL I guess we will never know why they did what they did in that bathroom. I bet they had a reason. Hey Ethan..liked this house ..weird how they just patched things up 🤷♀️...thanks Ethan stay safe well and warm 🤗💋

I like that dining area light fixture too.
It's a cute house. I think it was just a bad spot to build. Someone should have advised them. Thank you Ethan. Another great video.
Well that was interesting. Thank you. Sorry your cold.
Looks like it was a nice house but they sure did some weird things to it that made it odd.
Yo E thanks for keeping it real sending love from central Florida baby
Awesome Ethan!
Not a bad house. So glad for you when you can't go into the basement, I know they make you uncomfortable.
Just when you thought it was spring
Strange interior decorating I hate carpet in the bathroom gross! Great find though

There’s a lot of waste in your area in terms of letting perfecting good structures sit and decay and then just destroy them. I thought the US was bad. Damn. Makes me sad looking at these houses honestly.
That wallpaper in the kitchen. I had that wallpaper in a trailer house from 1971.
Love the Orange Color
Lots of people put carpet in their bathrooms in the 70's. Warmer floors.
Houses with no Sheetrock in garages I’ll never understand , it must have been an extra cost when the house was built.
I don't think I've ever said this about unbounded house before but this house deserves to be torn down
