Ian Fleming created the fictional character of James Bond as the central figure for his works. Bond is an intelligence officer in the Secret Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6. Bond is known by his code number, 007, and was a Royal Naval Reserve Commander. Fleming based his fictional creation on a number of individuals he came across during his time in the Naval Intelligence Division and 30 Assault Unit during the Second World War, admitting that Bond "was a compound of all the secret agents and commando types I met during the war". Among those types were his brother, Peter, who had been involved in behind-the-lines operations in Norway and Greece during the war. Aside from Fleming's brother, a number of others also provided some aspects of Bond's make up, including Conrad O'Brien-ffrench, Patrick Dalzel-Job and Bill "Biffy" Dunderdale.
The secret agent who everyone knows by first and last name
ėėė54
And Number 🤷♂️
The irony XD
The irony is there actually was a real person named James Bond, where the creator Ian Fleming got his permission to use for 007.
Lies again? Oscar + Emmy + Globes + Grammy = UFC + WWE + IBF
Connery's introduction from Dr No feels so natural, realistic. There's nobody like him no more, god rest his soul
❤ so natural and cool
It sounds cocky and professional at the same time
@@Anti-ml9rw he did copy her in a way, he introduced himself like she did, last name then first name.
About the cocky and professional part, he was a charmer after all
That one is the ultimate. The pause between "Bond" and lighting the cigarette is perfect. However, in reading the Ian Fleming novels, I can't help but feel like Daniel Craig's Bond is the best (or at least my favorite) portrayal of the character.
It was always better when he simply said Bond James Bond. No “My name is” no “The Name’’s Bond” Just “Mr.?” “Bond, James Bond” Also the very first Was the best!
Good point, I was just realizing my favorite Brosnan line is from tomorrow never dies
@Andre Perry in Casino Royale, Bond doesn’t introduce himself until the final 3 words of the film, that to me is more impressive
Agree 100%
Disagree. Major cap. The ones that Pierce and Daniel say are the best, and both of them have "the name's...." . Yes agreed the "my name is..." thing isn't that good, cause it doesn't make sense either and sounds corny. But "the name's..." prefix is the best.
lol. k. Such a weird nitpick. I'm just here enjoying the evolution of bond. I don't got time to get my panties in a bunch.
My favourites:
0:09 Sean Connery - Just perfect and iconic.
0:17 George Lazenby - It's his only one. I'm just glad he one at least. LOL
0:26 Roger Moore - His smirk and cockiness. He knows he is a badass.
1:01 Timothy Dalton - I just love how he doesn't give a fuck.
1:05 Pierce Brosnan - He is definitely the coolest for me.
1:30 Daniel Craig - So cold and awesome!
Spot on mate.
1:26 I like the Daniel Craig one with holding a weapon.
I like the lazenby one it sounds human and charming in a friendly way to me
Lazenby had 2 actually, it's just never acknowledged for some reason 🤷♂️
Ageeed PB was the coolest Bond
The first one with Connery it sounded natural and made sense because James asks for the woman’s name and she responds by saying her last name then her full name, and James also say’s his last name first then his full name just like she did but to be humorous, the other films and Bonds after that, it feels like the writers wanted him to say it because it sounded cool in the first film
Exactly.
Sean Connery had to kick it off perfectly to make the series great. Then onwards it didn't matter too much how people said it as it was already an iconic line
Didn't he have problems saying the line at first...? Like he kept mixing his first or last name with Bond and the actress of Trench had to help him?
absolutely agree
If these are in chronological order then Miss Trench, Sylvia Trench kicked it all off.
May Sean Connery, the original James Bond Rest In Peace. 1930-2020.
Born: August 25th, 1930
Died: October 31st, 2020
Aged: 90
Honestly, Trench kicked it off. Which is funny to me. The iconic Bond's most iconic line happens only because another character introduces themselves that way first.
0:09 BEST one. (Connery established how to say it, and it was repeated the same way so many times because it was badass)
1:27 next best one.
What’s wrong with Timothy Dalton’s?
@@ycs5555 i like all of them except Moore. He looks like a butler to me me for some reason. No way he is that assassin spy that the book shows.
Absolutely. That Casino finale may be the best scene in the entire series.
@@ycs5555 It was cringe, idk why
1:05 period!
I love the way Dalton delivered the line
he tosses it away in the best way
If you’re referring to The Living Daylights, I joked to my friend when he watched it for the first time that the reason the line was delivered so casually was because it must’ve been the 80s and everything was just too cool for properness. So with a new actor, a new tougher version comes a more casual line drop.
Favorite one from each Bond actor:
Connery = Dr. No - It's iconic for a reason. Literally wouldn't be a trope in the series if it wasn't for Connery's amazingly suave delivery.
Lazenby - Obviously we gotta go with OHMSS bc it's his only movie. I do like it tho, it's jaunty and upbeat which is different from most of the other times he says it.
Moore - Live and Let Die - I LOVE this line delivery. The way he strolls into the room, the slight pause, the nonchalant way he carries himself despite having literally had the rug pulled out from under him and been unwittingly pulled into the villain's lair into a trap a few seconds before...man, I seriously love it. Might just be my favorite, it's between this and Casino Royale.
Dalton - The Living Daylights - I love how annoyed he sounds, almost as if he's given this intro a hundred times already and can't be bothered anymore. It works bc in that scene Bond is pretty preoccupied, and rightfully so after what happened during the training exercise gone wrong.
Brosnan - GoldenEye - It's short, it's sweet, but it's effective. Makes me feel like we're right back to 1962 with smoke, sexual tension, and espionage based intrigue as our favorite spy introduces himself. Being in a casino always helps.
Craig - Casino Royale - Amazing. Love the execution, the delivery, the swagger, and the fact that they wisely chose not to have him say it until the very end of the film. Casino Royale 06 is Bond's origin story and him not saying the iconic line until after Vesper dies hammers that home SO well.
But The World IS Not Enough?.
Spot on, completely agree other than disliking Lazenby's (though I do like OHMSS overall and find myself a Lazenby apologist as I like his portrayal for the most part)! I'd rank the line deliveries as:
1) Casino Royale
2) Dr No
3) GoldenEye
4) The Living Daylights
5) Live and Let Die
6) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Interesting how these are all the first time each actor said it!!
I noticed you chose each actor's first film as Bond.
I so agree. Daniel Craig's "Casino Royale" intro is my favorite - I like the way he smirks at White.
@@superiorgamedudeI think that provides an introduction to each actor and how he says it. 🙂
Out of everybody who says this line Sean Connery says it with a certain class a style he was cool he was tough he was classy he had it all as a bond.
0:22 the weirdest connery one
I'd argue 0:50 is the weirdest Connery one.
This is the best
Nobody said it better than Connery and nobody ever will.
The same can be said.
Mom: Hey you talking to the new friend of yours about movies?
Me: Yup, we're Bonding. James Bonding
Haha, love that!
Excellent compilation! Daniel Craig is James Bond for me, although Sean Connery's very first delivery is so effortlessly beyond cool, all the others just don't compare. Daniel Craig's delivery in Skyfall is his best IMHO, I think it has a hard edge that by his own admission he initially struggled to find when he first tried to deliver the line.
The Diamonds are forever one always sounded sped up
For no good reason. Seriously watch the trailer. It's normal speed and it's pretty good.
@@kasrakhatir I watched it after hearing somebody else make that point and you're right, it's absolutely baffling!
Connery and Brosnan said it best
1:05 The best one!
I think the 007 creators are actually trying to tell us that his full real name is Bond James Bond
RIP From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Quantum of Solace.
Even in the non-series Casino Royale 67 and Never Say Never Again there is the "Bond, James Bond" replica.
The first is the best. I love the way the theme music starts in that scene with Silvia Trench.
The best of course is Dr. No with Connery. The scene is so beautifully shot and built up to introduce the character.
But to comment on the others:
Connery - GOLDFINGER is still good because of the music buildup and also his attention on Goldfinger gives him an edge. The others he’s just winking at the camera.
Lazenby - Sorry not a fan, his performance (including the line) is too wooden, although the film is great in spite of him.
Moore - A good debut, again with music support, but he progressive sounds more like a businessman introducing himself at a convention.
Dalton - I kinda liked his “Yeah yeah Bond James Bond, let’s get on with the mission” delivery. Refreshing take.
Brosnan - Probably the most variety tailoring it to the scene, suave with Xenia in Goldeneye, imposing with Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies, World is Not Enough gives us an exhilarating action moment, the other World version and Die Another Day line are less memorable, but still pretty good.
Craig - Promising start with that badass ending in Casino, but every other line is said with such boring contempt like he just doesn’t want to be there.
Spot on Sir!
You're so right about Craig, LOL. It's why he's my least favourite Bond. I really like Casino Royale and Skyfall and I don't even mind Quantum, but that's in spite of his portrayal, not because of it.
Agree.....except....Lazenby was a great Bond and HMSS was one of the best.
0:11 might just be the coolest thing ever put to screen in my opinion.
Also, 1:27
1:33 underestimated
Also, just to make an addition since No Time To Die happened after this video...
"His name was Bond. James Bond."
Sir Connery: Authority
Mr Lazenby: Joyfull
Sir Moore: Friendly
Mr Dalton: Focused (no time to give you a damn, mate)
Mr Brosnam: Suave
Sir Craig: Badass
Brosnan is the best
The first one is still the best. The pause and the bobbing cigarette makes it.
i never cared for how moore said it, he always paused just a bit too long and felt like he was aware he was making a reference
But moonraker was like butter.
what if next James Bond is about time travelers where all Bonds 007 meet themselves 😨 👍
Bondverse :0
Connery and Moore are deceased now so that'll never happen unfortunately. Yes Ik ppl have used CGI to use late actors again but yk how ppl get.
This ain’t Doctor Who.
I like how he was initially saying it to slyly imitate and flirt with that first chick😂
Brosman had the best delivery IMO.
1:27 best one
When telling someone you're name is you're catchphrase you know you're a badass
Roger Moore's Bond, James Bond will remain my all time favorite. Second is Daniel Craig.
"BOND, JAMES BOND." SIR SEAN CONNERY [R.I.P], GEORGE LAZENBY, SIR ROGER MOORE [R.I.P] TIMOTHY DALTON, PIERCE BROSNAN, & OF COURSE, DANIEL CRAIG.
The guy who wrote a book about birds' name is James Bond.
Every hair on my body rises when he introduses him self in Dr.No, when you hear the theme music starts
In my opinion Connerys first one is the best! But overall Brosnan nails it almost 100% each one! Hes the best overall for me.
Others have pointed out a couple of omissions. When you revise this with No Time To Die, you can add the Robbie Coltraine delivery in TWINE, Lazenby's second delivery in OHMSS, as well as Moore's second delivery in FYEO when he meets Kristatos.
And his Second Delivery in The Man with the Golden Gun.
There are several more you could add too, including Fiona Volpe’s Bond, James Bond
My name Jeff.
The best one by far is the very first one in Dr No made all the better with the Bind Theme coming in over the top of it, then unfortunately the rest of Sean’s pale in comparison esp the never say never again! Peirce is next. Best at delivering it
The Waffle House Has Found Its New Host
Unpopular opinion: Daltons "bond, James bond" was the best one. Just so quick and casual. Cool as fu*k!
Pierce Brosnan is the best, his voice is cool. Roger Moore sounds like an uncle
Overused and hence somewhat cheapened phrase. Noteworthy that it was not uttered in #2, #4, and #5 (1967) even as it was in the non-EON Never Say Never Again (1983).
My fave is the very first one; it came as a witty riposte to "Trench, Sylvia Trench".
1:09 THIS will FOREVER be my favorite.
Not just because I like the movie,
but its this movie.. that Pierce looks like HES actually James Bond!
He looks smooth, cool, hes the perfect 007 here!!
My favourite is pierce Brosnan
01:26 Daniel Craig looks completely like the original James Bond to me.
pierce brosnan did it better imo
the bonds nond, james name
My favourite is the first one from TWINE. Also love Dr. No, Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy, Living Daylights, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Skyfall. Least favourites are Diamonds Are Forever, OHMSS, Never Say Never Again, Die Another Day and Casino Royale.
The best one is the original Dr No… but Roger Moores got the best voice for saying it
Always important to get the second name out first
The first one is unmatchable
The scene where George Lazenby says it on the phone is missing
Was hoping for Robbie Coltrane from The World Is Not Enough. "Bond James Bond!"
What's his name again?
Unpopular, but I think Eunice Gayson did it best.
My name is putin vladimir putin
Always a classic moment in the longtime series.
1:05
Sean Conery and Pierce Brosnan, my favourite Bonds.
You know for a secret agent he sure does say his name a lot. Then again he looks different in every movie so it's not like any of his enemies will recognize him. Yeah the "James Bond is a codename" theory doesn't really make sense, it's more likely that MI6 just gives him a new face every few years.
Obviously, the first is the best. The best Bond, the introduction to the character, the context to which he used it. Everything about it is just perfect. It's so cool, suave and off the cuff.
On the other hand, many of the others feel more forced. However, I do like Dalton's (my 2nd favourite Bond). It's like an after thought when he says it, as he's preoccupied and not really focusing on the woman, so it's not like he's saying it to impress her (which was sometimes the way it was with Moore's).
This video is
Nice, very nice.
Dr No is the best “Bond. James Bond.”
You missed the second time Lazenby said it in OHMSS
I noticed when reading moonraker that unlike the first 2 books Bond doesn’t say the line, M does when they both meet Hugo Drax.
I didn't quite catch this fellow's name, who is he?
Was this something he said in the books? Or did the first movie make it famous?
"And I'm Dick Tracy, and you're still arrested!"
"I can help you?"
"Yes, my name is Bond, James Bond. I'm looking for Dr. Goodhead."
"You just found her."
"woman..."
"You have good judgment, Mr. Bond."
Time to choose your sides... "Pierce Brosnan"
Bueller, Ferris Bueller
Pool, Deadpool
Love the Bond references.
In Ferris he came into camera in a suit, shooting the cuffs as he said it
CAPTAIN. Deadpool.
there's a bond james bond in licence to kill i did not know that
Doesn't Robbie Coltrane say it as well in the world is not enough
BondJamesBond! why am I suddenly worried that Im not carrying enough insurance? :D
World's best dialogue of Hollywood movie bec my English is week i can't understand whole movie but
I remember small sentence
My top 3 favourites ranked,
1. Connerys first
2. Brosnans first
3. Craig’s first
After watching this one quickly realises Sean Connery is the only James Bond...
This is hilarious. The only thing that would have made it better is including the scene where Robbie Coltrane says it in The World Is Not Enough.
Connery set the stage but I’m stuck between Moore and Brosnan.
I'm amused that the second time Pierce does it in The World Is Not Enough, the desperation of it being an action scene makes him emphasize it differently.
I love the delivery of it probably up there with Sean Connery's one.
The best Bond, James Bond phrase from Timothy Dalton.
*_"The name's... Stack."_*
You missed the one in The Man With The Golden Gun where he introduces himself to Lazar
I'm imagining a Bond film in which, like Groot, this is all he says!
I'm looking for the "I like the part when he says Bond, James Bond" comment. Still looking.
Everyone knows and loves the classic ways of saying and so do I but I always love the casual way Dalton says it
JB: I admire your courage Miss uh....
Trench: Trench, Sylvia Trench, I admire your luck Mr.....
JB: BOND, JAMES BOND!!!!!!
CLASSIC 007 FROM DR. NO!!!!
Between Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan no competition 😊❤xx
So he actually got it from that first lady Ms. Trench 🤣🤣
Seam connary showing off his chest hair.😁😁😁😁😁
The closing James Bond theme from Diamonds are Forever is still the coolest in the 60 of .... him
My favourite dialogue my name is bond james bond
Surely Daniel Craig had to of said it more than that?! Wow.
As badass as Craig was, he really didn't need to say much. And don't call me Shirley.
1:00 it sims like he would come from Poland. That voice.
Nothing tops 1:09 for me
Brosnan is something special i cant describe it
Connery and Craig did it with the most swagger
Maravilhosos! Saudades!🙏🥰❤💋⚘👏👏👏❤❤❤
"Hello again! I guess I owe you an apology. My name is Bond, James Bond."
