In store shows are great. I saw Weller do one in 93, in oxford st. Either virgin or hmv. Absolutely rammed..played most of the wild wood album. No mobile phones in 93!
I remember reading an interview with Weller in the NME in 1983 and he said "you'll never see me with a Rickenbacker screaming feedback again, it's like heavy metal". Well, it's a Gibson not a Rickie, not much feedback either, but I always knew that that simmering aggression would boil over again! Brillaint version of my favourite ever Jam song and great to see the extended ending (sadly missing from the version on their live album and the one they played on The Tube in '82) Cheers AceFace!
From a time when : He realised (and still cared) that he had written and performed some amazing songs that had inspired a generation, despite having dumped the bandmates that contributed so much to make this great track a part of an amazing LP ! (All Mod Cons) He has continued to dump great band members throughout his career! That is his choice but in 2023 the 'HITS' have dried up, which is probably a natural progression/regression, his back catalogue is amazing as a band member and as a solo artist. He is from the 'SOUTH ' of England , but has so many fans in the 'NORTH' of BRITAIN ! If he reformed 'The Jam ' even for say ; 10 stadium gigs in the UK The three of them would ; be made for life, open up a merch lifeline, show the younger generation what it was like for us 'near 60 year olds' ! dx
Lovin the chords at 1.56 to 2.11 :-) Paul looks like he's really enjoying this!!! :-) Enthusiasm and commitment! Can't wait til next Wed 24th Nov when I see him live again!
Thank you Ace for yet another fantastic upload! By chance, was this shot at Amoeba Records in Hollywood? I saw that the upload date was September of 2010... I was living in LA when he was there on tour around that time, and he was scheduled to play a show at the Wiltern. I couldn't go, and I was really bummed. At least I saw him in Philadelphia in 2008.
Thank God he realised how brilliant his Jam songs were.
One of my favourite Jam tracks

OMFG this was Fucking AWESOME..so much Passion ,Energy and Power.God Bless you mr Weller .....
Paul is clearly back "in The Jam" in this performance and it's Beautiful to see...
Strident, abrasive , spat out with a venomous fervour, absolutely fucking stunning!
Dont think so knob, more accomplished and ooozing confidence, nervy in jam early days, let me know when your grown up,
IAN DAINTON to what is your comment aimed?
IAN DAINTON How’s about you calm the fuck down Ian.
Definitely. Like Chuck Berry he manages to screw up a lot of his old songs these days. It'd be done as reggae or on the piano now.
👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸👍👍👍
Probably the last point in time where he still officially had it.
One of my fave Jam tunes !! Great rendition !!
Agree. It is indeed one of the best Jam songs... One of Weller's best overall as well.

Rob Maddison not Gibson, Epiphone. Paul still plays Epiphones today
I didn't know that his heavy metal comment was as long ago as '83.

Any comment that makes me laugh gets a thank you, as I'm watching him feedback against his amp. Brilliant.

Definitely at his best getting feedback from a Marshall amp, rather than prancing round with the Style Council
Some SC stuff was excellent. I'm glad Mick disappeared.
Quite simply the God Mod
@robert367 that is not a Gibson, it is an Epiphone Casino
Casino epifone I'm sure sorry about the spelling
Is that not Alan White "in the crowd" at 04:41?
damn, look at all those old people in the crowd.
Yeah, fuckers shouldn't allowed to be out enjoying music.
"Taking orders that are media spawned................................!"
