Those Sculpin and Ling Cod are fantastic eating! Nothing tops the Halibut though. So many good ways to prepare them. Fry them. Bake them. You can even make chowder out of them.
So Fire! Nice Day out. Kudos to Lance and congrats to both of you. Your Alaskan Adventure is a pure Diamond I look forward to each and every episode. Nicely done showing off the value of an often mistakenly tossed part of the fish. Caution on the jump scares, you all need to come home safe.
Great news on the halibut catch guys. There is 30 grams of protein in 1/2 a fillet. Just one of fishes that is so good for you. Gunna be healthy even if you don't want to be LOL
One of your better videos. Really enjoyed it. I know we’ve never met, but I’m a little surprised/hurt that you don’t invite me to come with you on these adventures. For free. Food. Airfare. Everything.
That was a fire fishing video, funny part when Sam was fighting the first Halibut and fighting hard. Wanna come to Alaska and do what yall doing, btw love the content. Should try some sashimi of what yall catch.
Loving the Alaska stuff. One thing though you need to take a shop vac or clean out that smoker somehow soon. Lots of dust and ash building up in there and if it gets to much it can ignite. Buddy of mine had that happen and it melted a bunch of siding on the house
yes the collars or wings are so overlooked such a good piece of meat from halibut, or salmon esp king salmon I think like 99.9% are tossed out because people dont know how to use the fish they are catching, the heads too can be boiled and then boned out to make patties also the carcass can be scraped with a spoon
I was out halibut fishing with my uncle in santa cruz. We got into a bunch of fish. As we were knocking fish. My uncle swung back with a aluminum knocker. It hit me super hard on the back swing. Almost fell to my knees and cut my head open. Kept fishing cause it was one after another.
I definitely thought that was an awesome video for sure!!! It’s to bad Sam that you lost that big one that you had on for a while until he got wrapped up in the other lines and down rigger!! I definitely wish we could have at least seen him!! Oh well that’s the life of fishing!!! The big ones always end up getting off somehow!! Awesome video guys!! Remember keep up all the hard work buddy’s!!!
Couple of years ago took a Mako water taxi out of Homer to Seldovia. Along the way stopped at an oyster farm and sampled some small Japanese oysters that were spectacular. (Frank’s or something like that….) highly recommend if he is still there…
They are still here in Cook Inlet/Kachemak Bay! We fish King Salmon year round! The best King Salmon fishing doesn’t happen till late September through March! They’re called feeder King’s!
Japanese use the meat from the jaw of the Yellow Tail considered the filet mignon of the fish. Prized portion of the fish. In Japanese Hamachi Kama try it delicious. Usually Japanese restaurants on;y have a few on hand.
I've hunted deer and elk in the backcountry of WY as a non-resident since 2004. Las t year I hunted elk pretty close to where your group was Randy. I saw one other hunter afield. That's it. I'll take it.
Good Job Fishing Guys, The Guide Needs To Go Back School!!! You Get Caught In The Downrigger, You Get Caught In The Bait Bucket, And Everything Else That Was In The Water!!!!!
Gotta 53 pound hallybot on 12pound main and 30 pound shock leader bout 4 ft long Andies line in Neah Bay WA. It was a 40 minute fight. Remember That there are the Two things called Halleyballs ok remember to make sure you don't mistake them for rocky mountain oysters. From Calorado or Idaho Montana they not the same. AND They not same thing to EAT. Me friend gotta kick outta me trying to put them in my meat bag cause he had to show me how to clean it as I thought they were meat not Halleyball's
The sculpin have fins that can poke you and they are poisonous. I caught one and had my thumb in its mouth. The sculpin flipped and the top fin poked me on the back of the hand. Damn, my hand blew up the size of a softball and was extremely painful. I do not think they mentioned that about the sculpin.
Halibut are are awesome but, come on? Why are we shooting chickens?? Save those shells for the ones over 75pds....! Have fun and make the most of the times you can enjoy now.
It’s a safety issue, that’s why I pop’m. Too many things can go wrong even with smaller butts! Normally 30 lbs and up are are the ones that get slapped by the .40! I have plenty shells! Lol 😂
This Alaska series is awesome. Great job guys.
We appreciate that!
Oh here we goo gonna be a good one

Alaskan halibut are sooooo delicious
Homer is great
Agreed!
My parents are up there right now and just caught a bunch of flat cakes
Looks delicious northern halibut are best firm chicken of the sea delicious
What’s the reason for shooting them before putting them in the boat
They are easier to handle in the boat and are less of a hazard
Safety
Caught that first one with the green 7000 Abu. What an awesome old reel, I caught a pile of muskies on that thing.
Buy a winchester 94 30-30 and a marlin 45-70 lever action rifle incase a kodiak or black bear attacks so both of yall guys can be prepared.
that 3rd fish what rod was that caught on
Shimano TDR 8 ft
I’m going to Alaska in like 7 days I’m kinda scared being 11 doing salmon halibut and rockfish
🔥

The Sea Alice....Cialis
Hahahahahh
it's called the collar and is the best part of the fish
Shooting some really small halibut
Bud is stone cold. I would be scared being on the boat with quick draw McGraw lol
😂😂😂
That was definitely overkill
Salmon rods for halibut isn’t east when have to reel them in
Bro try your clams sauté or deep fried
How many different ways can you describe good food?
MinnDak Outdoors: "well let us tell you..."
Ahahahah
Anyone have a counter for how many times they say "bro"? Sounds like a frat party 😂😂
By far the best white fish there is.
Have you heard of a Halibut pole?
What charter did you use in this video?
