Trying to maximize both the biface and the flake yield is my favorite part of knapping. I'm not sure it's actually maximizing the total yield given the failure rate but it's neat when you can split a rock in two full length pieces.
That’s a big ole piece! God dang. I’d would have started sweating as soon as I picked it up. My anxiety would be crawling out of me and my facial expressions would have probably been this 😬😬😬😬😬😬
Very cool looking biface, can't wait to watch part 2. Always wondered 🤔 what you do with all those crud flakes and the unusable stone that's left over?
I throw it away. Down the street, there's a recycle center that takes "natural" material. They pile it up like a landfill. I dump my small flakes and shatter there.
@truthsayer35 what are you, 12 years old? If calling it Granite will help knappers conceptualize the material in a way that helps them knap, I would do it. It's not a bad idea, actually. I already call the really tough stuff "concrete".
That particular peice of Dacite has a lot of cool patterns in it. This Orta be a Good'n 😎🏹
I do my share to keep your numbers up ! I use to watch just to fall asleep but its not working anymore.

Crud flakes is because that flavor is crud
Not familiar with this stuff, but is that a copper head on the “hammer” thing? I really don’t know what that’s called
It's called a copper "bopper"
Snapinhalfish😂
Trophy-sized snapinhalfish
Where do you dispose of all the sharp refuse when you are done?
Make a nice knife for me!
First ❤
I bought a bunch of that since I like dacite it however was horrible
It's not easy.
I seen a guy with a tote that he knapped in blanket on bottom so flakes stay down.
Hmmm
Humor is the best invention of sapiens. ...
Oh yes
true dacite , is barely knappable, and looks completly different. With all of your knowledge Patrick, I would have thought you knew this
Have I ever called this stuff "true Dacite"?
look up Dacite!!! What every one calls Dacite is actually obsidian that was nicknamed Daysite....what you have is Daysite, and is obsidian!!!
You must be REALLY upset at the people who named the pineapple.
@@KnapperJackCrafty why not call it granite then? Hard to take anything you say serious.
