    Trying to maximize both the biface and the flake yield is my favorite part of knapping. I'm not sure it's actually maximizing the total yield given the failure rate but it's neat when you can split a rock in two full length pieces.

    That’s a big ole piece! God dang. I’d would have started sweating as soon as I picked it up. My anxiety would be crawling out of me and my facial expressions would have probably been this 😬😬😬😬😬😬

    Very cool looking biface, can't wait to watch part 2. Always wondered 🤔 what you do with all those crud flakes and the unusable stone that's left over?

      I throw it away. Down the street, there's a recycle center that takes "natural" material. They pile it up like a landfill. I dump my small flakes and shatter there.

    I seen a guy with a tote that he knapped in blanket on bottom so flakes stay down.

    true dacite , is barely knappable, and looks completly different. With all of your knowledge Patrick, I would have thought you knew this

    look up Dacite!!! What every one calls Dacite is actually obsidian that was nicknamed Daysite....what you have is Daysite, and is obsidian!!!

      @truthsayer35 what are you, 12 years old? If calling it Granite will help knappers conceptualize the material in a way that helps them knap, I would do it. It's not a bad idea, actually. I already call the really tough stuff "concrete".
