Just wanted to let you know that your journeys and knowledge are so important to me. I live to understand and know the actions of my ancestors, all of our ancestors are the same people no matter the color, race or culture and it's to me the most important thing to ever know. Thank you
Oh my god, what beautiful stone, I would be overwhelmed on how to get all of it back to the van, Will I thought for sure you were gonna put that whole rock in your pack 😅😅🤪🤪🤪😜😜😜
Ive been knapping for 2yrs and ive not had the chance to get any European Flint. Beautiful stuff though. I watched my friend Jack Crafty work some of it a while back. Lovely stone. 😎🏹
That looks like an amazing way to spend a few days, just hiking along a beautiful coastline and spalling out huge, solid boulders of incredibly pure flint! It is so satisfying to see those large, clean spalls splitting off the boulder at each blow of the hammer stone. And the sound that it makes each time... sweet music to my ears! Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely fantastic footage Will, thanks for sharing your journey with us. I loved watching you and your friend Peter spall those nodules. What wonderful music those stones make.
Such a mesmerizing watch. Big pieces with so much clean flint are indeed not easy to find! Did you come across some nice crystal cavities too? Occasionally we also find cavities with beautiful botroidal growth.
Peter Wiking! Wow! You guys are my favorites! I learned a bunch from Peter! Man! Thats a hell of a blade core! Id sure try to run a few long blades off that! A blacksmith friend of mine sent me a nodule of danish flint. It came from Asel Jorgenson. He is supposedly well known in your parts of the world for Danish daggers and Folsoms I think? He also sent me a knife made by him as well as a few bifaces. I recently came into some more danish flint from a liquidated collection of a flint knapper that crossed the river recently. Anyway I havent opened any of it yet but cant wait to see whats inside. I hope its half as good as what you got there. I hear if they give off fart sounds while spalling your are blessed! Yall need a mule!
& hours later... Well heres the arrow head I made :) I hope you were able to ruck as much of that out as you could. But man the excess baggage on the plane must have been just rude :P Cheers Will.
I dont know exactly where you are in Denmark, but I found the top piece, about 6 cm, of a dagger on a beach that looked a lot like where you are at. it was near Fredericia.
Why is it better than UK flint? i was getting that sort of stuff in swanley kent in 2017 when i worked there ( as a bailiff ahem...) sadly no flint back in wales PS i would love to see you find obsidian like that !
I’m from East Tennessee u.s and I find artifacts made from flint that looks exactly like that. Waxy and all I just can’t find any big nodgels to nap don’t have a clue where the natives got it here
This is absolutely astonishing. Every spall makes my jaw drop, it’s so clean. Just so cool.
Such a beautiful sound. Lovely flint.
can see this exact scene 10 thousand years ago, just 2 bros chillin and cracking away some nice nuggets
"Wilma !!!" What a pair of Flintstones. Cheers Will; Peter. Safe journey.
Wow, looks like multiple trips are needed for all that flint. Like how it sings when you break off a piece! Sounds almost metallic meets glass.
Nice to watch the two of you reduce those nodules down. Beautiful place and beautiful flint!

That is very homogenous material with almost no flaws. The smooth surface of a fracture, the ringing like a bell. I’ve never seen any flint like that.
I could listen to the tinkling sound of flint breaking until I fall asleep. Its so soothing and relaxing.
That sound of the hammer stone and flake spalling 🎶 🎶🎶off of the core🎶 🎶.
Thanks Will.
The flint sings a similar song as that in Norfolk !
That stone sounds amazing, sounds as good as darlington Crystal. The shore line reminds me of here in Devon 40 years ago, unspoilt and natural 😊
It's a real pleasure to watch craftsmen at work 🙏
Just the sound it makes when you are spalling pieces off tells me it's some awesome high quality material.👍

Amazing video. Its good to see peter there with you, an amazing knapper in his own right. Looking forward to seeing more.
Will, you should have done a slow sweep over all the pieces, we never got to see how clean & sharp they looked.
What a find.

The best, highest quality flint on the planet indeed ! Can't wait to see you knap some, Will. Aho!
It’s impressive watching a master work that enormous piece of gorgeous flint with such deft skill.
I am so jealous! Beautiful flint, right on the beach.
Love the sound of flint singing as it is removed from the large block, wonderful video.
@@paulfreeman23000 but special wasn’t it buddy 😎
That nodule sings an enchating song! My word.
Thanks for the info and shareing.
i know of several knappers that do amazing stitched daggers here in the states many of which have youtube channels. looks like gorgeous rock.

@@dire_prism we found a few even blue crystal in one piece
With a nodule that big, Will could make one of those cartoon caveman flint axes.
or another dagger

It's really fascinating to watch a large flint nodule being reduced to usable pieces.
Australian here😭. I can’t find much in my area. Looks great. Good for you. 👍🏼
That's cool. Thanks mate
tink tink, tink tink tink. Sounds like heaven. Beautiful material there.
a blind man could tell that's awesome Flint wow love hearing it ring
Order placed. Thanks! Your ice age is due for delivery Thursday at 8pm.
Wow, Will! I'd love to try my hand at this. But here, in the US, I wouldn't know where to start looking.
I have carried sooooooooo much rock. It’s beautiful but… I am thinking… boat.😉
Dude can't wate to see what you make out of the good stuff.

I've never heard of " barking flint " 😂😂😂😂
you fellas have no clue how lucky you are to have flint like that. i found ballast flint in Maryland but it is nothing like that
Next time higher a boat for the day.😊
All hail Will Lord our tribe leader 😊😊😊
When the flint sounds like this, you are sure than it's a famous one.
Take a boat there.
I think that I'd pad/protect those edges, as well as my pack and body from those edges. Styrofoam peanuts, maybe?
I think you should have had a wheel barrow with you :D
@@BrakhianSoldier I actually brought one but it wasn’t any use here
i recon you should have got a canoe ?? they were awesome .
Like kids in a candy shop 😁
I would have hired 100 locals to carry a few tons of it out for me! 😁👴🏻💪🏻🇺🇸

WOW
Looks like you scored
I'm assuming that you don't have to worry about ticks or chiggers in that climate
Or Horseflys
Or mosquitoes
Rattlesnakes, copperheads, water moccasins.
Ticks yes, maybe not by the ocean
why dont you carry the whols stone in the first place?
One big junk, ist better to carry than 20 smaller ones with razer sharp edges ?
Great point
Does it weigh less in pieces. 🤔
@@McShaganpronouncedShaegen 😂 no but you get the chance to take it in smaller quantities LOL
