    Randy, I’ve been a full time RV/boater for the past 11 years. What you’re missing about the value of the RV process is the total picture. When you travel by RV, you not only don’t pay for a hotel room, you also don’t pay the outrageous food bill for three square a day at a restaurant. Plus your resigned to eating what they produce rather than what you might choose. For us, that’s huge. Not being critical but it is obvious you do like to eat. As you RV travel you decide what to eat, where and when. You also develop a food budget that fits your own criteria (be that what it may). Finally, you develop the bed and bedroom the way you want it and have extra sleeping quarters for family and guest. I’ve seen how you travel. Suggest that stay in hotels at $100 and up per night plus a hundred dollar a day food cost for you is not unrealistic. $200/day on a RV travel budget goes a long, long way. Enough said, if you want more realistic info, contact me and I’ll share the rest of the RV/boat living realities with you.

    When I was a kid my dad bought a 1952 Dodge 52 passenger school bus with a flat head Chrysler industrial motor and a 5 speed manual transmission (1st gear was a very low "granny" gear for driving very slow or getting started when pulling a heavy trailer. It was a nice, basic conversion with 4 bunk beds in the back, a small closet, a 5 gallon pail inside a small barrel that was cut down, bolted to the floor and made into a toilet. It had a sink in the kitchen area (but no running water, a 4 burner gas stove with oven, a gas refrigerator, a gas heater (plus the normal bus heaters), two original school bus bench seats and a table that dropped down to a full bed, and a big comfortable chair behind he drivers seat. I loved traveling all over the USA and Canada in it, and by time I got my learners permit I was driving it also. We never knew which route we were going to take or where we'd sleep. Dad always took his tool kit with him and if the bus broke down, we just found a place to pull over and he'd fix it. If he needed a part he'd hitch a ride into the next town, get the part and hitch a ride back. He always carried a lot of spare parts though. It was a simple motor and a transmission, not like today's big, heavy, complicated motors and transmissions. It was a cheap way to travel and explore some beautiful country, towns, and cities. If you were tired you stopped and slept awhile, If you were hungry, you cooked it on the stove. The food was very cheap at the grocery stores or even directly from the farmers. If you needed a bathroom, you didn't need to hold it or run for a bush. When I was older and racing I pulled a trailer and took my family with every weekend. No, you don't need a huge expensive RV. Go basic, it's much more fun.

    In the UK we call them touring caravans and I have one that is just under 25 foot long and they are not as frightening to tow as it sounds. What I like about it, is that you can pull into a caravan park and drop the caravan off then you have your tow vehicle separate to do what you need to do. I prefer the caravan to a hotel but everyone is different in what they need. Santa's workshop is an awesome channel, I've not long subscribed to the channel.

      I enjoyed learning about the trucking industry and rigs. They should have the carnage section of this video required watching for driver's education to encourage motorist to give them respect on the road. Just because they are big and heavy, doesn't mean that the truck driver gets out of accidents without a scratch.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack Год назад

      You LOOK at estimates, you do not repair them or know anything about them You have no skills and never even attempted it. Period. You have zero. All a trailer is is sheetmetal and plywood. That is it. You can repair it with $200 at Home Depot and then have a vehicle graphics company match and recreate the wrap. If you think people buying a $70,000 trailer for $800 have the money to spend on a $70,000 trailer you're taking the piss completely.

    Several years ago, at LazyDays, in Brandon FL, they sold a large bus camper. The new owner drive it less than a mile to the Pilot station. They misjudged the turn, hitting the canopy supports above the fuel pumps, and taking out a couple of fuel pumps. The canopy collapsed onto the camper, and the damaged fuel pumps caught fire, burning everything to the ground.

    If you are very mechanical like my good friend is these are worth owning. when it breaks he fixes it himself. her pays for parts only if he can't repair or rebuild the appliance or part. It costs a crap load of money to have any service done to one of these. You are better off to buy a real one live prevost that has stainless steel panels on the out side. These are cool if you tow a small vehicle behind you so you can abort if it breaks.
