@@user-gt9pt2fk7dwell, he probably has super strong quads from doing barbell squats. The weird thing about Pistol squats is that at the bottom of this movement, only the front of the quad (near the knee) can lever your body back up against your shin. So for one part of the movement, it’s hyper targeted on a part of your quad that barbell squats don’t emphasize. All of this to say that it’s not as simple as lifting twice your body weight in the rack. It’s almost like retraining the muscle from the ground up. This is also why a lot of folks have super bulky upper legs that become very narrow forward the knee.
@@akathegainiac I usually do Bulgarian split squats if I feel like obliterating my legs one at a time Pistol squats look cool tho, I'm gonna have to start training my hip flexors lol
bro i can do the pistol squat with something below my ankle but cant do normally bcoz whenever i try to squat i always end up squatting on my toes help!
All I did for my pistol squat was sitting in pistol squat position 3 reps for 30 s every other day. At first, I put the supporting leg on higher ground; the edge of my bed. Then, I could hold the position on the floor gradually. It was very hard balancing at first. But after 7-8 days of training. I could perform pistol squat no problem. Now, I am trying to achieve dragon squat.
Strengthen your ankles first with tibialis raises and doing lots of ankle rolls (in both directions). This will strengthen not only the ankle muscles, but also ligaments!
Don't blame the exercise because you jumped straight into an advanced one too fast. You probably already have low mobility in your knees and didn't do correct slow progression
I never thought about this and just tried them with a weight plate under my heels and it actually worked. Well now I finally know where to start. Do more stretching...
For me, it was not ancle mobility but hip mobility 😢 I had the stiffest hips and gluts ever, and I'm still in the process of gaining my flexibility again 😢
I am very weak(especially my upper body) but still managed to perform a pistol squat first try without any training. I never went to the gym or anything else, just rode the bicycle a little bit 😅
I dont have the ankle mobility issue but whenever i go down and try to lift myself up... i experience pain in the quad of the leg which is straight . .. what's the solution?
Looking at my huge belly: "It's my weak ankles, dammit"!
Bro just helped all calisthenics people do a squat💀
And alot of strength too.
not really i super strong legs but my knees go inward when iu try
@@jimmy3k767 how did you overcome that issue?
@@Bobithan just practice until you can get it . = do it every day and go deeper and deeper

@@Bobithanmaybe lunges? I never do pistol squats but tried it out of curiosity and i can do three on one leg but only with my heel elevated
Ankle mobility is actually my issue so ty!
Same - I have strong glutes and harmstrings, but I'm not able to go down as deeply as i should because of ankle mobility.
Nah the hardest part for me is keeping the extended leg straight
That pistol squat on your toes was pretty badass too haha
The hardest part for me is keeping my other leg elevated cos I have weak ass hip flexors lmao
You can do it on an elevated space and let your other leg go down

Unlocked my first pistol squat today. 😂😅😄
I can easily pistol squat with my right leg, but I can't even break the 90° with my left leg.
Keep training boss
My heel is elevated and hope this helps to improve 🙏

You need to work on ankle mobility then
All I did for my pistol squat was sitting in pistol squat position 3 reps for 30 s every other day. At first, I put the supporting leg on higher ground; the edge of my bed. I hurt my ankle one year ago. I've done physioterapy, but it was never the same. I hope this helps and i can do a pistol squat in the future.
Good luck with your journey, I believe you can achieve it!

Does it count even if I do it on the ball of foot, because you are for sure right my ankle mobility is bad
Yes it does count in the sense that you have the strength but you should still aim to do it with flat feet and work on your ankle mobility
I can go down and hold the bottom position but i simply can't go up. 😢😢
THANK YOU
Thank u for the tip man
Enjoy it when your knee goes pop, mine did, didn’t hurt a lot until a few months later. Constantly buzzing and twitching now
How did this happen? I’m scared.
Bro go to a doctor. Also that’s not pistol squats fault, you most likely either did it wrong or got unlucky
You can just do normal squat if u cant do pistol squat
Don't blame the exercise because you jumped straight into an advanced one too fast.
You probably already have low mobility in your knees and didn't do correct slow progression
Ethier already had underlying issue going on, or you didn’t keep your foot and knee aligned, If they aren’t parallel, you will cause injury’s

What about hip flexor weakness ?
How do you not fall over when all the way down.l?
hardest part for me is keeping my foot flat on the floor otherwise i can do it pretty low
Ayo tysm, i actually did it in 2 minutes, and yes, you first need really strong legs and know how to handstand :)
Thanks
Of course! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
I can do it with my right leg but not left😢😢😢 help
thnx bro
