I just added a second diddy to my bum-diddy, and my life has been changed. Forever. Seriously though, this is really cool, as your arrangement of this piece is the only one I’ve heard that sounds similar to the arrangement featured in the Netflix special “Haunted” the episode “In the Pines”. You have a similar haunting sound to that arrangement, as opposed to the more major chord structure used in the classic arrangements, which was hard to listen to after such a good, darker arrangement. I dig your style. Nice video! Keep it up; your channel deserves to grow!
thanks for all the kind words! Yes that second ditty makes all the difference :) I’ll have to check out this “haunted” version, but I agree, I love this tune sounding as minor and dark as it can possibly be. And ya I’m really grateful that my channel has reach a bunch of folx and fingers crossed it will keep growing :)
Very awesome. Beautiful arrangement and lesson. I'm struggling with not muting the second string while bending the third. Is it important to have the second string ringing? 🪕🪕
Oh ya I’m always accidentally muting the same note. Honestly it’s all a matter of preference. I feel like a banjo sounds best to me when more strings are ringing, but the main thing is that you focus on what feels best to you and practicing getting that sound. If you like how the string ringing sounds, get it to ring. If you like less ringing, focus on getting the melody sounding smooth. Nothing is really “important” so much as playing and enjoying yourself while ya do it
Hey man. Awesome video brother! Fro One Ginger to another! Hahah.I bought a basic Yamaha banjo about two months ago. I’m still having a really hard time playing it coming from a string bass/bass guitar player originally. But you make it really easy to learn! Even if I don’t play claw hand. I play Scruggs. But awesome video man. I subbed. I’ll probably watch this video over a hundred times! Haha

Any chance you can teach Steve Martin’s “great remember”
I haven’t listened to it yet - I’ll have to check it out
I’m new to banjo and are wondering what the banjo needs to be tuned in to play this song?
Heya this tune is in D modal tuning (gDGCD). So the little g is the drone string.
@@CharlieMarksMusic Thanks! Looking forward to get to it on the right tune
What tuning is it in please?
Sawmill
Love this song. But for Christ sake tune that thing! Perfect pitch is a blessing and a curse.
