人在痛苦、悲傷、幸福時都會流下眼淚，可你知道動物也會流淚嗎？它們流淚更多的是緣於哀傷。不過，它們的哀傷背後似乎總有我們人類的影子。
不由得想起了之前看到的有關香港一頭待宰水牛流淚的報導。當時，一群工人牽著這頭水牛走進廠子內，準備將其宰殺做成牛排和燉牛肉。當他們接近屠宰房門口時，水牛突然停步不前，兩隻前腳往前跪下，眼淚也跟著撲簌簌地流了下來，眼中充滿了恐懼和悲哀。在場的工人們無不被這駭人之舉所震撼，有些人也不覺流下了眼淚。最終工人們決定共同出錢將其買下，送到佛寺中讓其終老。而水牛也似乎明白了人們的心思，止住了眼淚。
為了獲取熊膽汁，人們在野外下陷阱捉到熊後，將其關在牢籠中二十多年，每天透過插入熊膽的鐵管抽取膽汁數次，其痛苦難以言表。一頭母熊為了避免自己的孩子遭受這樣的折磨，含淚將小熊撕碎。
2009年3月7日，沉陽市東陵區深井子鎮前康村奶農白鳳琴，因家庭變故自己無力再飼養奶牛，在決定將精心飼養的奶牛賣掉時，主人與牛落淚相對。
還有網友披露了身邊的一個故事。一個賣驢崽子的農民發現，當小驢被送走時，大驢的眼淚像斷了線的珠子一樣流了下來。他從此決定再不養驢。
事實上，從古到今，關於動物流淚的記載並不少見。除了上述所列之外，如豬、羊、馬、雞、鴨等，都會感知到生命終結的那一刻，因此也都會流淚，牠們只是不會言語，但牠們跟我們人類都有相同的靈魂及感情，也都會不捨!

重慶媒體曾報導了一隻被搬遷的主人遺棄的叫皮皮的小狗。它每天都呆在主人原先居住的路口等待主人的歸來，雖然很餓，但卻不肯離開，據說它時常流出眼淚。而2010年11月上海高樓大火之際，一隻金毛犬也是在大樓外不吃不喝地等待自己的主人，而且一直在流淚。這只“守望犬”很快成為了網絡明星，並最終得以找到主人。
泰州晚報還曾報導過一隻小狗過馬路時，不幸被汽車當場撞死。隨後，小狗的兩個同伴趕來，圍著屍體哀嚎不已，稍大的一隻狗還流下了眼淚，讓路人唏噓不已。
