Have listened to all the 'greats' play these etudes. Gryaznov is in a class by himself, combining superb technique, musicality and overall depth of interpretation. He deserves to be discovered by the whole world. Go Slava!!!
[0:03] No. 2 in A minor [6:50] No. 4 in B minor [10:42] No. 5 in E flat minor [15:44] No. 6 in A minor [17:47 the end of the universe as we know it!] [18:42] No. 8 in D minor [22:20] No. 9 in D major
Very "Russian" in style, technique and interpretation. That's the only word to describe it other than truly magisterial. It's as if the tremendous technical problems didn't exist and oh, those inner melodies weaving and coming through! A true work of art,
Really a great performance! It makes such a difference when a pianist is a real musician with a deep understanding of what is playing…. so rare with Rachmaninov where the most part of the pianist are only busy making noise or trying to survive. When played like that, one perceive the intense expression and special color of his music! Bravo!
that etude no. 8 brings tears of happiness to my eyes almost everytime i hear it. why do people even talk when the possibility of creating such beautiful sound says more than words ever could
The best version i've heard so far, especially the no.8. The end of the scherzo section (21:07) is magistral with those exuberant and colorful chords, and even better than that, the singing inner melody which he highlights (21:22 - 21:26)! Bravo!!
I've just discovered a series of YT videos of this pianist...I wonder why isn't he more well known...he is a fantastic pianist and musician...he takes a tamer view of these etudes than I would prefer, but this performance is totally unique and beautifully recorded also...
A pianist-musician who commands attention, and can impart a real thrill. Should be much better known that some of the competition winners who've come to public prominence in recent years.
Hace tiempo que no oigo pianista más talentoso, humilde, potente, sensible, virtuoso y totalmente al servicio del compositor, pero con algo muy personal para decir, que este desconocido y enorme Vyacheslav Gryaznov. Gracias por tu arte.Ojalá vengas pronto a Buenos Aires
This is an excellent performance! My favorite on youtube. I would like to also hear Gryaznov's interpretation of the missing etudes from this opus, Nos 1, 3, and 7.
It is actually, Volodos shows so high level, in this etude as well, which is far beyond Gryaznov's abilities. This is the reason why he is much much more welcome by a professional public.
An absolute joy to listen to. I assume you are Russian Mr. Gryaznov as you have something that only a Russian can only bring to these performances. I like yours just as much as Ashkenazy’s 1970s-80s recordings which were unsurpassed. Well done.
I am truly for saying that, but I like his interpretation of last etude much more than Lugansky's and also etude in A minor sounds much better than Lisitsa's version.

i have never heard virtuosity like this. unbelievable clarity and vision
I get goosebumps listening to every single one of these. Incredible.

I agree with you and love the way you think about.

Very thoughtfully approached and professionally performed revealing many subtle emotions within the music. Bravo!

Gryaznov is the only pianist that really brings out the inner melodic lines in the beautiful D minor Etude #8. A true revealation musically.

An introspective look into this work, sensitive and soul searching, excellent performer!

A beautifully enchanting performance!!!
Superb performance! Slava has conquered Rachmaninov's music with poetic justice.
Superb performance with gorgeous tonal quality and nuance and heartfelt expression!!!
Wahnsinn! Marvelous interpretation. Blown away.
This is an excellent performance! My favorite on youtube. I would like to also hear Gryaznov's interpretation of the missing etudes from this opus, Nos 1, 3, and 7.
The transcendental etudes - are works by the great Russian composer Rachmaninoff, the sound of the pianist is very bright, the style is unique . . .
Rachmaninov en tus manos es infinitamente exquisito! Gracias Vyacheslav
Dauym, this guy can play.
Thanks ! Спасибо ! Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
Transformative, transporting....
His interpretation of the Etude number 8 is mesmerizing... so musical it's breathtaking. I thought Volodos version was uncanny but I was wrong.

@@deniszhdanov866 It doesn't seem like that to me. I don't wish to doubt Volodos, but at the same time I don't see why you are disparaging Gryaznov.
@@flyingpenandpaper6119 vyacheslav is god tbh
So beautiful
Thanks !
