Paid $6,200 for this Air King back in 2016. I fell in love with it the first time I laid my eyes on it. It's a love or hate it kind of watch. Just like what a "KING" should be.
To be honest, Rolex kinda burned me out of the watch game. Wanted a Milgauss for my 40th birthday after almost 15 years of career as an hydroelectrical (dams) engineer. Impossible. The tool watch has become a fashion accessory worn by rappers and social influencers. I don't want to be seen wearing one now ;/
Rappers aren't buying Milgauss.There buying some blinged out and all gold daydate or Daytona. Milgauss is a beautiful watch that Flys under the radar and looks good dress up or down.Never pay attention to people are wearing and buy what you always wanted.
@Lee I can't at retail. Contacted several AD, presented myself, told my story to prove that the watch will be used as a tool in the field it was intended to be. Nobody cares, it's all about getting the big $$ on the secondary market. Listen to Rob, I think he's more excited about the future value of the AirKing then the actual watch.
LOVE MY 116900. So glad I got it last year. I've wanted one since I first laid eyes on it. And it's the only current Rolex I'd wanted for years. I was afraid of getting on a 'list' at an AD and have it go out of production while I waited. Paid about 600 over retail for it knowing that was pretty reasonable. So glad I did. I'm a car guy, so owning a Rolex with motorsports connection other than the illegible Daytona is awesome. The Milgauss-like magnetism resistance is an awesome asset to have. And I love corporate green and yellow on the dial. It's my first and likely only new (new to me) Rolex purchase. Future Rolex purchases will likely be vintage, as that's the aesthetic I love. The Air King 116900 was such an overlooked gem for so many years and so many reasons and now it might be on the way out. Crazy.
I love this watch but I'm biased though since I own it. The yellow coronet with green Rolex text and second hand is the only Rolex with that. People will appreciate it once it's gone.
I just managed to get one of these at around $8265 USD .. I feel I got a pretty decent deal. Second hand .. but the full kit and not worn all that much. Great watch
I got the call from my AD 3 weeks ago after 6 months on the list. It was my 3rd choice but I love the watch. I’ve seen this watch as high as 24k online.
i got this at the AD for the 6200 new and back then 2 years ago people were saying its a piece nobody would want,,i look on ebay today and some other spots and see used looking for the 12 to 15 grand wow ,i might just kick it out of the collection for 20 maybe even the triple zero too. i cant believe what people will pay for these things it is a nice watch
Love this watch…the green and yellow are great. I also like all the numbers on the dial. The lume is perfect for this watch. Congrats on getting it Rob. If I were buying a Rolex today this would be the one. BTW, I grew up in Monroe probably not too far from you. I live in the Cleveland burbs now.
Don’t think they will hit 20? They were about 14 when all the places that have them pulled them. They pulled them cause they also think it’s gonna be the year it’s dropped. Shooting prices up to 18-22. Watch it happen

Got to say I do not understand the watch. Air King was suppose to be a pilot watch but it is designed after Rolex designed instrument gauges in a failed to achieve land speed record car. Ironic. Hope you enjoy the watch, I just don't understand it.
Obviously classic and beautiful case and bracelet but the dial is a total mess. Clever/cynical way to use up the excess stock of the weird non-lumed 3, 6, 9 numerals from the MK1 214270 Explorer. Congrats on the investment however.
Love mine and I wear it doing everything bought it last year for £5900 and now over here some are on sights for £16,000 stupid money. Two years ago and still today people say it’s an ugly watch I turned down a milgauss for this.
why the numerals aren't lumed is beyond me. Looks so stupid in the dark for a sports watch. Almost like an after thought. Used spare milgauss cases and left over explorer mk1 dials. gumbo watch.
I've got this version. Can't wait for Rolex to roll out the new version this year crafted with left-over cases from the maxi-case Sub and expired 20 year old paint buried deep in their warehouse. It's gonna be a beaut!
Congrats! This butterface Rolex all of sudden became popular. It is named “Air King” but this model represents nothing of “Air King”. My opinion don’t matter, if you enjoy that’s the most important. The lume shot was a bit embarrassing. All white numbers and 3-6-9 should glow but it is not.
This is my dream Rolex and I’m finally at a place to afford one. Always available until now. So annoyed I can’t anymore because now anything steel is unobtainable not just subs.

No, watches are not investments, they are consumables. At the moment, this is a very speculative market (speculate is a fancy word for gambling, at least with Stocks and futures you can use some data etc to make the best decisions)

I hate it. You can barely see the 3 6 and 9. The spacing between 55 12 and 5 looks horrible and unsymmetrical. Basically looks like it's been made from a spare parts bin. The older airkings are better looking.

I just wish it had a 0 before the 5. I think the dial would have better symmetry that way. Great watch nonetheless.

The new 126900 is much better than the old.
