Dogs are too excitable, and have way too many demands for me. Cats keep to themselves and only need a litterbox, some food, a favorite toy and some occasional love.

I have 5 cats.
-two of them sleep on my bed every night and one of them lays on the pillow next to my head
-one of them meows ALL THE TIME and if you follow her she will lead you to what she wants
-two of them love to hunt while the other three love to sleep
-one of them plays hide and seek. if you throw her toy and you hide while she runs, she looks for you
-one of them likes to sit on my shoulder like a parrot
-4 of them go outside but they always come back at night. one of them even goes outside of our neighbourhood
-two of them are always together and whenever the other is sick or is looking upset, they always seek each other out.
Cats are very much like humans. they feel emotion just like we do, they make friends just like we do, and they have varying levels of intelligence. Sometimes I even speak to them and they meow back HAHA.

I used to serenade to my cat. And I would make up philosophical poems on the spot about him. Rest easy, Mortimer. After 13 years, I think I'm ready to love another cat.
I've had an hour long conversation with my former cat. Never done this with the dogs,then again, I've had more dogs and cats over the years. It was an actual conversation too, I'd say something and he'd meow right back.
My automatic response to a cat sneezing is 'bless you.'

The "bathroom-after example" would have been more accurate if the door was closed and the cat's paws can be seen reaching through the opening at the bottom. At least that is what my cat does when I go to the bathroom. You gotta love cats!

Huge thumbs up. I talk to my cat like that all the time, but in all cat owners defense cats are vocal animals and talking to them helps them bond to you. I adopted two feral kittens and had to work very hard to bond them to me and so I researched all the ways to help.

Most likely. If you get a shelter cat it may be infected with something. But it is the same as when you ride a bus in the winter time and everybody`s a little out of ballance. Coughs, snores, noodles,.... so no big deal. Vitamins, maybe a small prescription health booster and it will pass soon. I had that a few times with newly adopted friends. It never came back again and they all went more than okay after that.
The only exception is a cat that goes in and out and the weather was cold. Then a cat might have a small cold like we humans do have from time to time. Those occasional anomalities are caused from sudden temperature change and your nose would "run" the same way.

I foster shelter kittens and it so much fun, seriously, I've trained them all to respond by name and two of the kittens I've had gave people kisses (like, would touch their nose to yours)! Cats ftw. Meow.

Omg stop with the cat vs dog debate! For some things, cats are better, but for other things, dogs are better. That would be like comparing food and water. They're both good, and you can't choose if food or water is better, because they are completely different things. They're good at what they're supposed to do. Actually, it has been scientifically proven that water is what your body needs to live. All your vital organs need water or else they'll just give up and you'll die. You may want food, but you can go longer periods of time with out it.

Well technically water breaks down things like carbohydrates and lipids which comes from food. Food and water equals energy, since food cannot be broken down into simple food molecules without water (thus hydrolysis) and water is not used for energy since it doesn't contain carbon.

Despite all these minor setbacks cats are still AWESOME
My cat likes to wake me up too but it's a little different in my case. If I don't set any alarms or show any physical signs of waking up, my cat will never bother me (he doesn't get onto beds either and even if he calls, I probably don't hear it). However, if I have an alarm set for the morning, once the alarm rings, my cat starts meowing really loudly, as though he knows I am supposed to wake up and he wants to amplify the volume of that alarm. Lol.

Heh... I have this cheap lamp on my bedside table that rattles whenever something brushes against it. Naturally, our family's two cats, who tend to sleep in my room, discovered this as soon as I got it and put it to use.
Now when they want to wake me up early every morning, one or both of them will get up on that table and start rubbing their faces against the lampshade so the whole thing shakes and makes this irritating clicking noise until I surrender and let them outside. :P
