We hope you enjoyed our breakdown of some of the most important changes that were made for the Lord of the Rings movies! Is this something you would enjoy seeing more of? Would you like to see us delve into some of the key changes made in 'The Rings of Power' as well? Let us know in the comments!
Two more. First the Eye of Sauron and how it's portrayed and Bilbo leaving the Shire SEVENTEEN YEARS before Frodo. I get the streamlining, quite a change though.
Thanks for the video - great breakdown! I don't mind the changes generally. The expansion of the role of Arwen was obviously due to the lack of female character action in the books. As a kid I hated the character of Tom Bombadil, so I didn't mind his omission (but I understand the purists' anger). But don't even get me started about the film adaptation of The Hobbit. Making this short children's book into THREE long movies was crazy, and required the addition of so much "filler" that added no real value.
I wanted them to add dwarves to minas tyrith to show that the dwarves were neck deep as well. I liked the addition of the elves in the film, it shows the elves were fighting as well. As we all know in the novels the dwarves, men of dale, and the elves were under seige and fighting massive battles themselves. Of course we would have been blessed to see Jacksons vision of the battles, but they only had so much time and money...
Neck deep for the dwarves is only waist deep for the others! 😜 Agreed though. It would be interesting to see what those films would have been with an even larger budget.

I watch the extended videos once a year with family. I'm also quite fond of them.
