Thanks for the realistic hunting videos. I used to get discouraged about not harvesting an animal, especially during an out of state hunt. The tags and traveling gets expensive, but it’s more than the harvest of the animal; it’s the harvest gathered from family, friends, experiences and memories.
If it shifts riding in the car then it’s a crap scope. Have someone fall and land on it and tell me how it goes. My wife slipped and fell with my rifle when we were hunting in Idaho. I just never remembered to check when I got home. Shit happens to everyone. Some don’t hunt enough to ever experience it all.
It is the Guide jacket. My under layers consist of either the Peloton 240 and Kenai hooded jacket or Strongfleece 260 and Super down Ultra depending on how cold it is.
Thanks for putting up these videos. I hunt many of the same areas and I appreciate knowing that I’m not the only one that has Murphy over my shoulder. Keep it up buddy!
No hate here, buddy. I know how hard and disappointing that must be. Keep your head up. From a long time fan, I know you have made longer shots than that on smaller targets.
Ive had learnd it my self the hard way. as you said better to dont hit, than wound the animal. now i check my rifle nad scope for every hunt i going on, next tme 👍
Sometimes things just go to crap. My first archery bull I had buck fever so bad I gut shot my bull at 23 yards when normally I’m splitting arrows at that range. But we always strive to learn to be better there are no negatives there man only learning experiences.
I like how you post the misses too. most people only show the hits and in long range hunting/shooting everyone is gonna miss sometimes. Next time you should put the camera/spotting scope behind you so you could watch the vapor trail and see where you missed, and the spotting scope won’t shake from the muzzle blast
As I watched you shoot, I tried to see were the round impacted. No dirt kick up or trees bark flying. Sometimes a small bump of the scope can cause this issue. I to have this happen. Change how you Trans port the rifle, better luck next time. May you have succes next time.
Watching this for the first time and you said you had left to right wind, wind coming up the canyon held your bullet up you shot high each time, like the video because it was focused I could see it Thanks for the fun time
@@DMOUA_OUTDOORS yeah u looked comfortable shooting I do love watching long shots just wish the bullets were those tracers types u can follow the bullet trail great video again
u need to practice on sighting your rifle in better. i can see maybe 1 or 2 shots but after that you're just shooting blindly and then you would injury the animal instead of killing it.
Tell me what I don’t already know. Good thing I record my stuff and knew when to stop shooting. I watched every shot before taking the next and stopped shooting even when the elk was still hanging up there.

Thanks for the comment and you are definitely correct. The harvest is only small part of it.
Great hunt. Even finding elk in WA is a success!
My rifle always rides next to me in the driver seat. Never had an issue with poi shift. Even with the cheap 25 year old vx2 I have on my rifle.

Thanks for the upload man, enjoy all of your vids.
Thanks for watching!
How did your zero look at the pit? Were your suspicions confirmed?
The rifle was shooting 2 inches low at 100 yards.

Thank you, it sure is frustrating but moving forward is the only way to go. Thanks for the support.
@@DMOUA_OUTDOORS Absolutely buddy. Appreciate all the content. Brighter days ahead!
It is what it is. Keep hunting. Your still a good long shot and it happens. I still learn alot from your videos. Thanks
Thanks JR. Time to hit the range more this year.
Very helpful videos keep them coming Im trying to become a successful elk hunter myself. Embrace the suck
Proud of you buddy for acknowledging the issue and not just "wingin lead". Keep at it!
I appreciate that! I quit shooting cause I couldn't see where my bullets were landing.

Thank you, I will be checking my zero as often as I can from now on.

Man I kept waiting for that cow to eat dirt! Just shows you that anything can happen. enjoyed the video man! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍

that any elk tag is a blessing in WA
Thanks for the vid
Been in your position making long shots with my 300HH luck next shot

Drilled that tree on the last shot it looked like, you would have hit her if that tree wasn't in the way.
It's hard to see but it actually deflected off a small branch before hitting the tree. Hard to see at the time with no spotter.
I done the something bro .. I know you can make that shot.. get them tomorrow buddy
Keep trying man, learning from your mistakes makes it all better for the next trip
that's the goal.

No, the rifle was off zero.
Man that’s a long shot no disrespect at all no hate I’m just a archery guy I couldn’t imagine shooting that far
No worries, you gotta do what you're comfortable with. I too am a archery hunter during the month of September.

Rooooookie days bro , 😂
Still a rookie.
After checking your zero, I hope you get a second chance.

We all miss shots now and then, don’t worry about it.
Way to hang in there on a tough hunt. Tell the truth.
