This video was SO ENJOYABLE to watch. Let me explain why, to me, and hopefully one of you will see my words and smile. -I've been pumped for Sonzera amps so hard and man do they live up to the hype -Rob's playing was more unique and a bit more ubiquitous than is typical for these videos as of late -Rob demo'd the amp *amazingly* (Lee as well but Rob did a particularly good job of showcasing the flexibility) -Lee's vibrato makes me have an eargasm -You both seemed really in your element (musically and socially; no awkward interrupting each other, etc) -I really like Paul Reed Smith and Sonzera amplifiers -toan
Best 6 Rock drummers of all time are surely: 1. John Bonham when he is on it 2. John Bonham When he is slightly drunk 3. John Bonham when he is absolutely incoherently drunk 4. John Bonham when he is sleepy 5. John Bonham when he is hungry 6. Keith Moon
Another cool vid! Have you ever done a video exlporing just how important the individual player is to tone? Maybe a video where each the crew play the exact same stuff through exactly the same gear? Or a blindfold "Who's playing the lick/chord?" test?
Chappers got some really fine tones out of that rig, and seemed fresher than he has for a while. This video served as a great reminder of why we keep coming back to watch these two. Good fun, but also a good functional overview of the gear.
Similar, but I think it was too fast to be MOTSM (what a tune). Regardless of Chapper's noodling, the Captain's riff was the A-Team - backed up by Chapper's reference to loving a plan come together. I'm boring myself now!
every week i realise just a bit more how amazing the prs stuff is for the price point. killer company, paul is wiping the floor with everyone else, and he still keeps improving stuff.
I've been gigging with a Sonzera 50w Head since they first released and it's been stellar. I use it for high gain metal and it really delivers when it's cranked. I normally run the gain around 1/3rd and hit it with a TS style boost. The magic of this amp comes from the power section and the fact that it is not 100% clean power.
trevinormatt that's good to hear. I always thought this would be a great amp for metal. It has just enough gain on tap that when pushed with a ts style boost it could go metal. Any chance you could do a demo?
I have the 20 watt combo . It is one hell of an amp , And very loud ... more like 40 watts than 20 . Great tones , full sounding . It sounds much bigger than it looks . I love it !
dannobman07 Hey! Do you still have the amp? I'm thinking about trading for it. Do you think that with a boost up front in the dirty channel it could get into an Alice in Chains tone? I dig this amp and it seems like this amp is a good one to have!
Agree I also have the 20 w and to play in my room , not only do I use an attenuator but needed to use a volume control in the effects loop. Got no complaints about the amp.To me it sounds like the prior hand wired amps that still cost more used than this was new. Difference is it was built on a circuit board in a country with cheaper labor. I can also play my bass on the clean channel and it is voiced more like my old silver face bassman not all nasal like a fender guitar amp. The clean is impressive how big and full it is. For a small amp it's not boomy or box y at all.
The effort you folks put into the special effects of hiding the coffee mugs is what Steve Vai calls "Deeper Than Technique". That is one of the top three reasons why I love you.
When Chappers isn't shredding and Lee is playing a lot and does less talking you know for sure they both like the guitars. They look gorgeous and in combination with the amps they Sound just insanly good. Btw thanks for the intro, was a pleasure! :)
Hilarious discussion and comments on the some good looking gear, so thank you both for entertaining. Huge applause for the video editor to, some really funny tweaks adding a spin on the whole thing. clap clap
I miss these jump cut edited videos as well as the ones with exploding coffee cups and beach balls.☺ Also, if I could find the guitar Rob is playing in a S2 594 double cut I'd buy it in a second. Stunning!!!
Captain: the power tubes are chassis mounted, hand wired, no harness mess inside. It's on the PRS website. These should be more reliable for their owners.
played one of these today. sounds AWESOME and I thought the izzact same thing that rob said. shockingly unboxy sounding. I was really blown away. I'm usually like "meh, decent but not amazing". these are amazing.
It's kinda rare for me, being a bassist, to fall in love with the sound of a guitar amp... In fact, that's the first time it happens! To me, the 50 one has the best sound I've ever heard coming from a guitar amp
I love how Chappers and the captain have gotten so much hate in the last while and yet there are still loads of people watching this. Every guitarist seems to be getting this hate, even Joe Bonamassa. Guys if you don't like the Andertons channel then feck off or as Lee would say "Don't be a dick". Please remember that you're watching this stuff for free! I for one still enjoy this channel and I thank Rob and Lee for having fun and seeming so honest when selling products. If either of these two fine gentlemen ever decide to venture over to Galway, Ireland I for one will welcome them with open arms!!!!!!!!!!! (and possibly a pint!!!!)
I long for the days when people used to live by the idea that "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" but that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore :(
I was about to put money down on a Vox MVX150 head until I learned about PRS's sonzera amps. In Sweetwater's demo, someone made the comment that it sounds like a Marshall and Fender combined, and I agree with that. It has a great clean tone, and the type of gain I am looking for when you crank that channel. I'm still trying to decide which head to buy.
It's funny how you talk about preferring an acoustic for clean as I have always played that way but recently got an electric due to watching your videos and simply didn't get on with it! I love the videos with Rob and Lee and I don't care what anyone else thinks! :)
I would love to know the origin of the name. When I saw the name of the amp I immediately thought some Brazilian handmade amp was being sold by Anderton's, so I googled and to my surprise it was a Paul Reed Smith series of amps. I wonder how mr. Paul latched on to the word, it is the PERFECT name for an amp really. Now, anyone in the music scene who has any contact with Brazilians has probably heard the word a million times, as it is a slang for great sounding music. It's a very specific term, in fact, you would never say it simply to refer to "good music", it's particularly reserved for loud, energetic, impressive sounding stuff.
Smokin' outro jam. Cap'n was slaying dragons and Chappers had some lovely swirly chewy vibe-y goodness happening. Outstanding gentleman ! Queen and country ! Rule Britannia !
Please please please do a "which is best "Airwolf, The A-Team, knight rider or Street hawk. Great video! Thanks guys, absolutely love this channel, it's a ray of rockin sunshine 🤘😎🤘
Really cool sounding amps, get the feeling we'll all be seeing those on the pub gig circuit very soon! Hmmm tempting!!! Any more Captain Meets in the pipeline?
+CaptAnderton Two 12AX7 preamp tubes (apart from the effects buffers, reverb buffers, and the phase inverter) would constitute four gain stages, which is the same quantity as many high-gain amps (e.g. the Orange Jim Root Terror).
Love the sound of that Barry Tone. It would be awesome if you could do a 6 string Baritone round up, not a shoot out, just compare the different tones available from different models. Maybe an ESP with EMG's, a Reverend, the PRS Semi, a Squire Vintage Modified etc.
Bruno Silva the problem is that there is no brazilian... but brazilian portuguese, which me being portuguese i would much prefer just being a clear different portuguese and brazilian. So that no one ever misunderstood ever again
RxAPC You write that, in English, in the comments of a video in English from the British Isles, viewed by people in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Speakers of Spanish must also be having a bit of a chuckle as well. We actually have a saying in English for this phenomenon, "Separated by a common language."
Markle2k - Yes, I agree. Although Portugal and Brazil share a common language, there are many words invented by Brazilians which don't exist in a Portuguese Dictionary. I imagine that also happens between English language countries.
I would say that "sonzera" or "sonzeira" is more of a slang in brazilian portuguese than a formally used word. I don't believe it's in dictionaries. Could also be used to denote just really loud music in general, besides good music.
Cap, your northern Robert Plant sounded spot on, if you were impersonating Ivor Biggun! Had me in stitches!!!! Pmsl! If you don't believe me do a direct comparison between yourselves and the ballad of John Thomas Allcock.... lol!
I've been on the Andertons website...their selection of limited SEs is great....not a damn one offered State side though...ya know...where the company is based
I just played one of these , today. I love this amp but , I would like to soften it up a bit with lower wattage preamp tubes .. I am not an amp guy so, all i mean is not so hot on the over drive , side...
It would be really helpful to have a camera on the controls of the amp, just so we can see what changes you are making when playing, its hard with black knobs on a black face! It would ruin the set a bit though...
Heheheh. I’m portuguese guys. You até so funny. Heheheh. I must say, Sonzera it’s a dificult word even for portuguese people. But tou guys are close enough. Thank you for what you’re doing. See ya.
Probably the best led cover ive ever seen
what min. can't watch the whole vid atm

Anthony Couch That's a really cool idea I hope they'll read that!
Anthony Couch really good idea.
Chappers got some really fine tones out of that rig, and seemed fresher than he has for a while. This video served as a great reminder of why we keep coming back to watch these two. Good fun, but also a good functional overview of the gear.
I'm brazilian, ''sonzera'' is actually not an official word... people say ''que sonzera!!'' when someone has a fucking amazing tone...
I love how much fun whoever edits these videos must have with playing around with the mugs!
7:54-8:50 brought a huge smile to my face. That is what music is all about. Don't apologize for that moment. Keep killin' it fellas!
best sounding amps they have reviewed in a long time, not that aalllll the other ones have been bad I just love the sound of these amps!
the best in a fair while. thanks guys.
both of you back to your old selves having a bit of fun.
A-Team chords at the start. Brilliant.
Wasn't it Man of the Silver Mountain by Rainbow though?
Similar, but I think it was too fast to be MOTSM (what a tune). Regardless of Chapper's noodling, the Captain's riff was the A-Team - backed up by Chapper's reference to loving a plan come together. I'm boring myself now!
every week i realise just a bit more how amazing the prs stuff is for the price point. killer company, paul is wiping the floor with everyone else, and he still keeps improving stuff.
It's not just that the chops have improved Cap, the musicality is really coming on. Well done you.
Brazilian native here. 2:32 99% accurate. Congratulations
José Henrique Ha ha total fluke!! But I'll take the points!!! :-)
This video is easily the best showcase of Captain & Rob banter that I've seen in quite a long time.
+Sexual Tyrannosaurus I love your RUclips name!! Ha ha!
Ta, mate. :)
Thats from on of the greatest Arnold movies ever, Predator. "This shit will make you a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus" lol, great one indeed.
Ya, tie this to your sore ass Blaine............lol
And a HUGE waste if you’re trying to learn about the amp.
I keep thinking the beachball is going to knock The Captain off his stool, but he gets it every time.
👍😎🖑 🏐💨
Jay Lingo the cap'n is very sturdy
Fun visit, nice tones, cool wood, great friends, thanks Lee & Rob
fantastic clean tone from rob! It's my first time hearing such from him.
I love the funny animations. Please never stop. Love the ball. Love the explosive cups. Cup swaps etc. LOVE IT!
Played the a few 20 months ago with a variety of PRS guitars, really fantastic amp!
Awesome video! Love the tones of the amp. When Lee was playing at around 16:50, it sounded like Tom Sholz from Boston!
Any chance you could do a demo?
fantastic jam at the end. Well done PRS and Rob and Lee
Well heck they some darn tasty amplificatory devices ya got thar.
I have the 20 watt combo . It is one hell of an amp , And very loud ... more like 40 watts than 20 . Great tones , full sounding . It sounds much bigger than it looks . I love it !
agree completely. crazy loud, powerful and sounds HUGE
dannobman07

Good God I love this channel. Please don't ever quit!
i love you guys its not about how good someone plays its about two friends having a laugh and playing some guitar
What a great jam at the end. Captain have really come into his own as a player. Great stuff, great accompaniment from Chappers.
Both those guitars are beautiful, damn. Love the woods used
Haven't even watched it yet, been waiting for this. Thank you.
The effort you folks put into the special effects of hiding the coffee mugs is what Steve Vai calls "Deeper Than Technique". That is one of the top three reasons why I love you.
What a beautiful Custom 24. Great sounding amps too. Paul Reed Smith is a modern day Tesla
When Chappers isn't shredding and Lee is playing a lot and does less talking you know for sure they both like the guitars. They look gorgeous and in combination with the amps they Sound just insanly good.
Btw thanks for the intro, was a pleasure! :)
FINALLY THE SONZERA DEMO :DDD I've been waiting!
Hilarious discussion and comments on the some good looking gear, so thank you both for entertaining. Huge applause for the video editor to, some really funny tweaks adding a spin on the whole thing. clap clap
I actually really liked Lee's sound with the delay before the preamp. Great sound!
This is the best Captain and Chappers video you guys have put out in a while
I love that PRS Tremonti that Rob is playing, beautiful guitar!
The cleans on this amp are beautiful.
This is exactly what I've been waiting for!!! This will def be my next amp🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I miss these jump cut edited videos as well as the ones with exploding coffee cups and beach balls.☺ Also, if I could find the guitar Rob is playing in a S2 594 double cut I'd buy it in a second. Stunning!!!
I like how they have adjusted the camera to film them up close like the good old days, instead of the wide shot.
I love it when a video comes together!
I had stop half way through and go and listen to some Zeppelin then a couple of hours later I finished watching your vid.
That sustained vibrato in the outro by Captain, filthy, absolutely dirty.
That last jam was killer!
It's kinda rare for me, being a bassist, to fall in love with the sound of a guitar amp... In fact, that's the first time it happens! To me, the 50 one has the best sound I've ever heard coming from a guitar amp
Teurteul AKA-Gizzard Thrse Sonzera's are definitely some of the best sounding amps they've demoed imo.
nintendonut100 between these and the egnater tweakers I would certainly love to run those two in stereo
Agreed - it sounds warm, punchy and full and I wonder how my guitars would sound through it?
Guitaraholic27 Peterson that would be a killer classic rock/blues rock rig.
what did you like about it? sounded normal to me
I love how Chappers and the captain have gotten so much hate in the last while and yet there are still loads of people watching this. Also I agree with Lee and Rob I can't possibly listen to Good Times Bad Times without imagining the drums!
Marcus Hogan yeah, Bonham was a beast! And a big inspiration of mine.
Because everyone wants a reason to justify the guitar is dead argument.
XuQifei Because when Rob doesn't play his Chapman's, he is betraying his team, when he plays Chapman, he is picking favorites.
Damn, PRS, everything they do looks and sounds The best.
Loving Rob’s playing lately.
Kyle Goddard Cheers bro :-)
That last jam guys! Dang. Just jaw dropping.
Perfection with the mugs. Love your videos fellas - thanks very much.
Captain, damn man that was a good lead at the end. Cheers from Arizona.
It's funny how you talk about preferring an acoustic for clean as I have always played that way but recently got an electric due to watching your videos and simply didn't get on with it! I love the videos with Rob and Lee and I don't care what anyone else thinks! :)

andertons always top quality prs is always the bomb.. even the se line sound good great showcas of prs
Before the captain mentioned it I was already typing, that's the cleanest I've ever heard chappers play.
This and the V40 deluxe are definitely the best sounding amps you guys have used in vids for ages imo.
Great demo guys and entertaining as always. Cheers :D
captain sounds great ! playing with feel
the editing. it is gorgeous!
That SE custom 24 it beautiful! I should have waited a few months longer! Have one in Trampas Green.
I'm liking Rob more and more. Big Trouble In Little China and Murdock as fav A-Team guy lol
great amps, great guitars, great review and on top of that Chaps and Cap. Instant like. Great video (and sick sounding amps).
That was the best Good Times I have heard since the original. It was like black adder does zeppelin.
That feedback at the end, 23:50 onwards. Goodness me that's lovely.
Robby Page and Lee Plant - loved that Led Zep jam!
I predict they will sell a boatload of those Sonzera amps - they sound great over here.
Imagine a 1-2-5 watt Paul Reed Smith amplifier....that's what I call wet dreams
+CaptAnderton Two 12AX7 preamp tubes (apart from the effects buffers, reverb buffers, and the phase inverter) would constitute four gain stages, which is the same quantity as many high-gain amps (e.g. the Orange Jim Root Terror).
God I love natural wood looking guitars. Might have to pick up one of those PRS guitars.
Fantastic sounds those amps and even more these Prs guitars, I am impressed, I go get one...
Another good video from Captain and Crappers
Rob love that piece you play
Love the sound of that Barry Tone. It would be awesome if you could do a 6 string Baritone round up, not a shoot out, just compare the different tones available from different models. Maybe an ESP with EMG's, a Reverend, the PRS Semi, a Squire Vintage Modified etc.
This was a really enjoyable review thanks
I would have liked to hear an s type through it though.
Sonzera it's not Portuguese word. "Som" is Sound in Portuguese from Portugal. Sonzera it's a Brazilian Portuguese word that means "Good Music".
Bruno Silva the problem is that there is no brazilian... but brazilian portuguese, which me being portuguese i would much prefer just being a clear different portuguese and brazilian. So that no one ever misunderstood ever again

Cap, your northern Robert Plant sounded spot on, if you were impersonating Ivor Biggun! Had me in stitches!!!! Pmsl!
If you don't believe me do a direct comparison between yourselves and the ballad of John Thomas Allcock.... lol!
I like those guitars but the first thing I would do is to replace those red knobs with amber or gold ones.
I have the Spalted Maple SE and that is an excelent idea. I never liked those red knobs!
Never listen to internet trolls, you guys are great I've been watching since the tiny terror
Amp sounds so amazing!
I've been on the Andertons website...their selection of limited SEs is great....not a damn one offered State side though...ya know...where the company is based
Excellent video, as always.
Can I request a Chappers and Captain jam with Gibson and Epiphone SGs?
Basically requesting more SG videos please.
Thanks!
Maybe next year. The PRS Sonzara 20 watt Combo just might be my next amp.Still in review mode looking at other amps. But this might be my winner.
these guys are fun to watch!
I just played one of these , today. I love this amp but , I would like to soften it up a bit with lower wattage preamp tubes .. I am not an amp guy so, all i mean is not so hot on the over drive , side...
Yes Captain! ! You should do a "My Fair Lady " version of Good Times !! That would be soooooo funny!
SE 24 custom has a maple neck and yes it's satin. At least mine is, 2017 model with quilted maple top.
I like one of those exotic wood PRSs if they'd done them in a waxed finish instead of high-gloss.
That wouldn't be very PRS
When you watch it for number of times and it is still worth it :D
It would be really helpful to have a camera on the controls of the amp, just so we can see what changes you are making when playing, its hard with black knobs on a black face! It would ruin the set a bit though...
Heheheh. I’m portuguese guys. You até so funny. Heheheh. I must say, Sonzera it’s a dificult word even for portuguese people. But tou guys are close enough. Thank you for what you’re doing. See ya.
That last jam was awesome!!!
Can someone tab what Rob is playing in it
sameer munshi I second this
@@ManuLeachmark gross can for a price. Contact him and he can tab it out. He's really good
The song that popped into my head for that chord (7:51) was Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh, sounded identical...
