Living in Japan and being paid US wages and dollars. I'm enjoying the declining yen, have bought so much Koken lately. Even the stuff I have no need for, like a 3/4, 1000mm ratchet from Koken
I wasn’t aware of any drama. I love koken. Now I’m feeling like I need to research the drama to hear what it is so I can hear the other side. I wasn’t nervous now I’m interested.
I’ve bought a 1/4” and 3/8” Zeal set, as well as the long handled flex head Zeal 3/8” It’s my first dive into high end tools (besides what I’ve inherited) and I couldn’t be happier. Trying to decide what my next purchase will be, the Nut Grips or the Wobble Fix extension set. I also hope they get the specialized spark plug ratchet back in stock.
Am currently pulling my engine to fix rear main oil leak in a 5.3. Highly recommend swivel sockets, and locking extensions . Rolling on a creeper with bell housing bolts falling around,i wish i had those fastner retention sockets.
Great info guys most people only care about the price not the service that comes with it that's why it's great to have dealers that stand behind the product. 🔧🔧🔧🔧
Frankie must of spent a lot of time making those fake labels. Ship from company is KOKEN CO., LTD., which is a medical device manufacturer in Tokyo. Ko-ken Tool Co., Ltd. is located far away in Shizuoka.
i have been told if i purchase KoKen tools i better keep ticket to get a replacement if i order from you do you keep up with what i purchase where i do not have to keep up with proof. My Matco man so far doesn't have KoKen
You should look at Palmac ‘s every day price and their sales promotions . Ko-Ken USA is taking the best tool value in the market and adding 25% to help us consumers. Palmac does warranty their products.
Sounds like Koken and Knipex have some issues with warranty Knipex won’t warranty anything either I stopped buying them because they wouldn’t stand behind the product.
The Germans and the Japanese manufacturers do things a lot different than they do in the United States. Both manufacturers know that they make quality products and if you tear them up because of your abuse, they choose not to warranty them I am a tool guy also and I deal with this on a daily basis, but I can tell the difference between a manufactures warranty or abuse
I have to make a correction. They were the original designers and they had a patent on it, but the patent expired, which allowed every other manufacturer to copy the design.
We’re not telling you where to buy your tools from… Just a suggestion if you pay that much money for a tool and you want to get it fixed I would make a decision and buy it from someone that is able to warranty it….. I would shop the price!! Just fyi
@techschoice Telling, suggesting it's pretty much the same. What I am saying is that anyone can say they are an autorized dealer, and anyone can say I didn't purchase it from an authorized dealer. It puts the consumer in a no-win situation. There is a lot of talk about this. None of it is good, and the "brand" should rectify it effective immediately. It's either warranty or not!
Those nut grip sockets are awesome, they are my go-to whenever I work on the GE engines and I want to make sure that I don;t loose any hardware in or around the engine.
@Bunsenburner101 No question Snap is good but Koken is better and I over to deal with The Koken USA. I was a Snap on guy before Mr. Subaru introduced me to Koken. The headache s I got from. 3 Snap on truck as I tried to return stuff- turned me off. I suppose and I heard the truck guys pick and choose their customers. U may be a picked guy, I wasn't. So it is as is. By the way, Snap on has a lot more specialty tools than Koken offers here. That is for sure but I don't have those needs. Good luck 2u.
If you buy from Koken USA or any authorized dealer there should be no problem with warranting any product. If you buy from Koken USA, you need an email to track the shipping and you can save your email which essentially serves as a receipt. If you buy from a dealer im sure they all keep some kind of receipt for tax reasons and customer service reasons too. The argument about Koken not standing behind their product just isnt true and holds no water. It doesnt take any extra effort to save or screenshot an email.
Try using the right tool for the job. Both the ratchets, 3/8" drive, went over 200 ft-lbs on the tester. ASME proof torque for 3/8 is just 150, hitting 220 and 260 is definitely more than adequate. If you're gonna be going 200+ on it you really REALLY need to be on 1/2" drive, not grabbing a cheater pipe.
@@AToolWithTools I worked at Sears in HS and College in the 1980s and repaired hundreds of the USA-made Craftsman ratchets. Tools break if you use them. Snap-on back then was King. I like my German Hazet also which claims to be the strongest.
I have always ordered directly from Ko-ken USA. They are just outside Boston and I live on the Cape about an hour or so south, so a lot of the time I have my order the next day, if not the day after. Great tools and great people that work there.
I have one Koken 3/8 flex head ratchet that is my favorite.I bought it from another authorized dealer,Joe's All Star Tools.Koken did make 1/4 drive universal sockets for Truecraft when they were in business.MrSubaru1387 even put out a video on the Koken warranty and mentioned you as an authorized dealer
I read somewhere that it’s not recommended to lube Kokens Z series ratchets because of the way theyre engineered. Apparently most of the lube/oil/grease is too viscous and will interfere with the very low back drag.
I would buy from you for my tool dealer does not sell them. I have been looking at Koken & think that I will have to buy some to try out. You are So. VERY WRIGHT to buy from your local tool dealers for they do help & support you and will always take care of you if you have a warranty issue. Good information on the Koken tool history. Great video!
If you’re buying from Ko-ken Japan at 40% of USA prices why worry about warranty? Your warranty is still in the bank not prepaid pending a warranty claim. My experience two sockets have failed in five years. Own every zeal tool Ko-ken offers. Its quality and it rarely fails. Good information and history about the company. Lastly that problem you mentioned Ford was having that resulted in the founder returning to returning to Japan, wasn’t that a world war with Japan?
That’s a great question, and unfortunately I am not 100% sure… Let me talk to Ko-Ken USA to see if they can get me an answer, then I will let you know!
Bs all around. A company can’t stand behind their product if they can’t hold their warranty regardless of who, what and where. I’ve never met a snap on, matco or Mac dealer that doesn’t warranty their product, because they always stand behind it if that take a loss or not.
Most Japanese and German manufacturers do not lifetime warranty their tools because they are smart enough to use them correctly and know the abilities of the tools… ko-Ken USA importer only offers a lifetime warranty because that’s the standard in the USA .
