that argument has been memed a lot on jan Misali's channel since then (they've made two separate Rhythm Heaven parodies about it)
basically, Anthony is arguing that toki pona isn't a language for a few reasons, one of which is its lack of speakers and written works, hence the quote _"Show me the bibliography."_

It's fantastic that there's more and more stories in toki pona and content which doesn't just focus on the mechanics of the language itself (selfish plug: I myself run a toki pona VLog here). I 100% agree that The Wizard of Oz is an absolutely perfect story to kick start a book series. So, everyone, go and get your copy of the book! o su!

Today is day 10 of my Toki Pona journey. Two days ago, I received my copies of pu and ku from Amazon.
Your 1st video was amazingly helpful. My attempts at Journaling mirror yours. Journaling with the glyphs really struck a cord with me! I have already purchased my journal.
Since 2nd grade, I have been a fan of the Oz books. L. Frank Baum wrote 14 before he passed. Ruth Plumly Thompson wrote an additional 14 before she passed. And I have read all of them!
So when you said that su is The Wizard of Oz written in glyphs, you just sent my motivation through the roof!

I feel like a neat book idea that could utilize toki pona for its narrative would be for a pseudo dairy, where the narrator is intentionally narrating their life in toki pona as a means of privacy, or in a story where two characters who are super close use the language for personal communication. Idk, the use of such an obscure language makes me think of themes regarding privacy, deep bonds, and opening up to new people.

It's a comparison that you see people mention a lot at first glance, but really it's not actually close at all. toki pona gives you a deeper understanding of the things you talk about, by focusing on describing the important parts instead of having tons of set jargon. Newspeak was created to have very rigid and specific meanings to make certain ideas impossible. Really the only thing in common is that they're small

there's another issue, in "nasin pali e su", e doesn't just make modifiers or other words into having their transitive verb meanings and doesn't really make sense gramatically if it's not in a full sentence, not in standard nasins of toki pona anyways. (the concept of a verb form that functions as a noun (which in english is with -ing) doesn't exist in toki pona, you just use the noun meaning)
as you probably know, the correct term there would instead be "nasin pi pali su", which instead of "way of creating this book", literally means "way of creation of this book", which essentially says the same thing.
