You can have entry-level apprentice baristas who will go through a formal training program while gaining experience in the retail operation. After a set minimum period of time and satisfactory performance, they could pass a test to become a journeyman barista. Later in their career, for those who don’t move into management, with years of outstanding performance evaluations and extensive advanced training, they could sit for a Senior Barista examination. Thus, you would have 3 classes of non-management baristas plus entry-level clean-up and prep personnel at your local Starbucks. Impressive staffing certainly, but I’m not sure that there would be much in the way of value added to the coffee buying experience.

Just a quick check. Things like life satisfaction, happiness, life expectancy, healthcare, education, economic opportunity, social justice and civil rights, actual freedoms on bodily autonomy (reproductive, substance and food choices, speech, etc..). Go take a peek.
Now, go take a peek at the countries that most closely align with the that the right-wing in the U.S. aspires to.

I love this case as it is really a simple one. The legal question for the justices is how hard should it be for the NLRB to get an injunction in a case like this one relating to Starbucks? Over the last several years, 1/3 of all such requests by the NLRB have been against Starbucks (12 of 36). And basically the NLRB is doing an end around in the legal process, as in their injunction not only do the workers get jobs, it forces changes on the company for that act while the administrative review of the issue goes on in the NLRB (which can take 2-5 years). Plus the NLRB applies a very lenient decision that they put in front of a court which is then rubber stamping their injunctions, one where they simply claim that have “reasonable cause” to believe that unfair labor practices have occurred and that injunctive relief is “just and proper.” No proof is required, no response by the company .. simply a we think this is the case and the court goes oh, ok. While in other cases where courts get involved, the court has to decide on four items .. they likely hood the case will succeed on the merits; will the partys suffer irreparable harm without an injunction; whether the balance of equity tips in that party’s favor; and what is in the best interest of the public (and the parties on both sides get to present information in support for or against the injuction).
And in this case I think Alito was laughing as the lawyer for the NLRB was basically arguing since we always get the injunction in the way it is done now, that 100% rate shows we are doing it right and hence the circlular logic is proper.

I cannot believe workers are attacking other workers for wanting to unionize. Anyone who believes that he/she can negotiate with a corporation on his/her own is an egotistical idiot. Trust me, I used to be an ego fueled guy. I created millions of dollars of intellectual property for a company that laid me off to save their shareholders a few bucks. Luckily, for me, that round of layoffs killed a once profitable company. Companies never used to do that when a large chunk of the workforce was unionized. They feared backlash from consumers. However, the GOP has masterfully divided and conquered a large portion of the workforce, so that they now vote against their own economic interests. Anyone who believes that he/she truly does not need a union is either financially independent, self-employed, or one downturn from being thrown on the streets. I am where am today because my father belonged to a union and was able to give his children a decent life. The capital class wants a permanent underclass of serfs.

Alito is the dumbest Supreme Court judge in history. His arguments use the logic of a 7 year old, and he pulls strange cases from history and twists them to his liking. He repeatedly embarrasses himself during questioning, and his ethical failings only add to him being a stain on the court. And now he laughs at a lawyer, again like a 7 year old. Maybe the lawyer was wrong, but it is beyond unprofessional behavior for his position.
