He wasn't the only one laughing.
Uh, no, i clearly heard several people laughing in the background.
No I was laughing too. The government argument was indeed laughable.
There was more than one judge that laughed in that courtroom and if you are a lawyer you have or have grown thick skin to take whatever comes your way
Alito and others were laughing with him, not at him.
I'd be DEVASTATED as a Lawyer if a supreme court justice LAUGHED at my argument.
Not from Alito. Besides, laughter from an opponent in a legal argument means you're succeeding, bc any trained debater knows that laughter is used as an intimidation tactic, when you know you're losing. I'd never feel devistated if an opponent laughed at me during a debate
@@c.harris9989 Alito is a judge, not an opponent. You're supposed to win over the judges with sound arguments. If you approach the judge as an opponent then you've already determined that you wont win against them.

When Starbucks first got started I thought Who in the hell would pay $4.00 for a cup of coffee? And years later people are now paying $7.00 for a cup of coffee. People bitch about $3.50 for a gal. of gas, but spend $7.00 for 12 oz. of coffee. Talk about stupid!
I drink my coffee black, about a pot a day at least. I tried one cup from them and couldn't finish it.
It may taste good with all that junk in it. but the coffee isn't.
Gasoline is a necessity. Coffee is not.
But that's with whipped cream!!
What they are really buying is an ego boost. It's a display of wealth and helps them feel better about themselves.
I'll stick with regular black coffee in a thick walled mug.... the same way I drank the stuff when I was in the US Navy.

@@markbell335 I find it very annoying to see young people (< 20) buying something "expensive" (to me) complete with whipped cream and walking away without paying any attention to any receipt or the cost. I bet daddy finally pays for it.

Union for STARBUCKS Employees 🤔❓....Something is definitely BREWING...🙄🙄🙄
Why not? How about the following career track?
You can have entry-level apprentice baristas who will go through a formal training program while gaining experience in the retail operation. After a set minimum period of time and satisfactory performance, they could pass a test to become a journeyman barista. Later in their career, for those who don’t move into management, with years of outstanding performance evaluations and extensive advanced training, they could sit for a Senior Barista examination. Thus, you would have 3 classes of non-management baristas plus entry-level clean-up and prep personnel at your local Starbucks. Impressive staffing certainly, but I’m not sure that there would be much in the way of value added to the coffee buying experience.
😂
A union for baristas?😝😝😝😝😝😝
A union for nasty coffee? ummm no.. Their coffee is already bad enough I don't see how they stay in business. Add a union and that 10 cents worth of beans, 1 cent of sugar and 20 cents worth of fake creamer will cost 15 bucks a cup

Equity in Union is a collective equity.
Equity outside of Union is single
You can't achieve equity by treating people equally.
As the left increasingly becomes a caricature of itself, of course even serious people in serious situations trying not to laugh are going to find it harder and harder not to.
The Right is trying to turn America into The Christian Version of The Taliban.
You should go look up the most successful nations in the world, and check out the laws and policies of those nations. (The U.S. doesn't count because it isn't even near the top 5 or 10 in any meaningful category).
Just a quick check. Things like life satisfaction, happiness, life expectancy, healthcare, education, economic opportunity, social justice and civil rights, actual freedoms on bodily autonomy (reproductive, substance and food choices, speech, etc..). Go take a peek.
Now, go take a peek at the countries that most closely align with the that the right-wing in the U.S. aspires to.
I'll give you a hint. One group includes Norway, Sweden, France, Denmark, Finland, Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, Uruguay, and several others.

The government is not working for you
So instead of considering a case on it's merits, just give us what we want because we FREQUENTLY don't get knocked back. Well, that's certainly a...novel approach.
Alito feels that tortured logic is hot.
I love this case as it is really a simple one. The legal question for the justices is how hard should it be for the NLRB to get an injunction in a case like this one relating to Starbucks? Over the last several years, 1/3 of all such requests by the NLRB have been against Starbucks (12 of 36). And basically the NLRB is doing an end around in the legal process, as in their injunction not only do the workers get jobs, it forces changes on the company for that act while the administrative review of the issue goes on in the NLRB (which can take 2-5 years). Plus the NLRB applies a very lenient decision that they put in front of a court which is then rubber stamping their injunctions, one where they simply claim that have “reasonable cause” to believe that unfair labor practices have occurred and that injunctive relief is “just and proper.” No proof is required, no response by the company .. simply a we think this is the case and the court goes oh, ok. While in other cases where courts get involved, the court has to decide on four items .. they likely hood the case will succeed on the merits; will the partys suffer irreparable harm without an injunction; whether the balance of equity tips in that party’s favor; and what is in the best interest of the public (and the parties on both sides get to present information in support for or against the injuction).
And in this case I think Alito was laughing as the lawyer for the NLRB was basically arguing since we always get the injunction in the way it is done now, that 100% rate shows we are doing it right and hence the circlular logic is proper.
I cannot believe workers are attacking other workers for wanting to unionize. Anyone who believes that he/she can negotiate with a corporation on his/her own is an egotistical idiot. Trust me, I used to be an ego fueled guy. I created millions of dollars of intellectual property for a company that laid me off to save their shareholders a few bucks. Luckily, for me, that round of layoffs killed a once profitable company. Companies never used to do that when a large chunk of the workforce was unionized. They feared backlash from consumers. However, the GOP has masterfully divided and conquered a large portion of the workforce, so that they now vote against their own economic interests. Anyone who believes that he/she truly does not need a union is either financially independent, self-employed, or one downturn from being thrown on the streets. I am where am today because my father belonged to a union and was able to give his children a decent life. The capital class wants a permanent underclass of serfs.
We are all tired of the bullshit
These cuts are to short to get a picture its like klick bait
