- You know you love Farideh, now meet her dad: Farideh and her father Manouch make Persian steamed rice with tahdig, the crispy golden crust from the bottom of the pot. Farideh prepares the rice by soaking it and boiling it till semi-cooked, while Manouch chimes in with his tahdig tips and tricks. Together, they add the partially cooked rice into a pan lined with olive oil, butter, saffron, and turmeric. The result is perfectly fluffy rice with a crispy, savory crust. Manouch approves. As an Iranian living in Iran, I just wanted to tell the whole world that we (The people) love you all. While The politics and governments keep us apart, we want to share happiness and all the good things with you. Respect to you all wherever you are🙏
Nima thank you for your commitment. May you be blessed.
Nima you are right I was married to an Iranian. He and his family love the U.S.
@@sheilaray2888 Thank you very much🙏
@@lb8141 I hope that you've had good memories from us persians. We Love you, U.S.A and the whole world. I wish you the best in your life🙏
Thank you so much Nima! I do have alot of wonderful memories and I cherish them. I wish you and yours all the happiness and joy in the world!
Don't know how long she'll be home, but would love to see more Persian recipes with her dad!
So much this.
I want an overload of Persian food with her and her dad.
I know so little about this cuisine and I'd love to try cooking some of it.
Yes, please! Cooking show: Farideh cooking with dad.
Persian Shepherds Pie 🥧 😋 Yum
Agreed to this 100% I love her videos and love Persian food; and the family and it’s just perfection ❤️
her father is so wholesome!
Big up Cesc
@@fullbinky 🙌🏾
I was shocked at how much she cursed in front of him. He seems very sweet.
Yeah, unlike her profane course big mouth
Her father is so adorable
I was married to an Iranian for 12 years, his Mom taught me to cook Persian food. I love the cuisine. Such nice, beautiful people. Most Iranians love the U.S.
Hello Farideh's father, your daughter is amazing.
Sicily!🍷
I just met Farideh’s dad. Things are getting pretty serious.
I can't believe this video has been up for a day and no one has called him "Faridad" yet
lol!
FINALLY! Tahdig is an iconic food, it deserved it's own episode! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Farideh....you have shown me my childhood favorite thing to eat. i grew up in foster care so i've had many foster parents but i distinctly remember one of them making me this with many, many meals. Thank you so much!!!
We need more Farideh and her dad cooking together please.
Every Persian Dad ever! I can’t🥰. I don’t have one but I married one, with two children who love their food and BOTH parents. Love is full of good food! Persian food culture opens up love, family and extensive, extended love for people who are Iranian, and those who love them. Video of kindness and light. Too cute.
Well put.
You brought out the whole sack of rice! Bless your heart. I feel at home.
Almost a month's supply. For one. 😋
As a non-Persian, I want to thank you for this tutorial. I love Persian food. And the love that is evident between you and your father is so sweet.
i'm so impressed by this, such a family moment.
An Iranian friend of mine made me Tahdig in Bournemouth, UK 40 years ago. It was beautiful and I have only recently found out what Tahdig was. Thank you😍
you and your dad are so adorable. I can tell you have an amazing relationship with your dad which is so amazing to watch. thank you for doing this recipe.
No F bombs or Sicily with dad around? Respect.
I really hope Munchies paid Farideh's dad for his appearance. He contributed a lot of value to this video and this trend of home cooking videos lets multimillion dollar corporations make lots of profits off 'free' labour from the families of workers.
Calm the fuck down, this isn't BA
@@gab.lab.martins They're never going to live it down.
This is just precious! All the best to you and your dad, hugs from Germany! 🤍
I agree this will be time they both will cherish together ❤
I love tahdig so much that it’s a long running joke I’m naming my first son Tahdig. I grew up having it with crispy bread base more often than the crispy rice, but both are delish 🤤
Is that a zipper bag of rice!???! Yo thats a gamechanger
Costco
What? I need to go to Costco
I just want to give her dad a big ole hug... what a delightful human being!
i is v.asian BUT let me tell u this , noBODY can cook rice like them persians ' the care n attention n respect 4 every grain of rice steamed , make me cry in envy like a baby !!!!!!!!!!!!
Try our Indian biryani.
@@Fihtseich the reason I said Indian biryani. Things evolve.
Right? I'm like, measure rice, twice as much water, salt, push white rice button. 😁
I love nana being in the corner chair not giving a flip about pops becoming youtube famous
Your dad seems to be a wise dude ☺️ more of him on the channel please.
That was heartwarming. Food looked tasty too.
4:29: The most immigrant dad thing ever! Never waste a single grain of rice.
That's actually an Iranian thing. There are things that have some sort of aura of respect around them. For example, you should hand a book with both hands. Rice, bread, pomegranate should not be wasted, not even one grain/seed. For pomegranate, they say, there is one seed in it that belongs to heaven and you should eat every one seed b/c you don't know which one it is. lol!
@@ladygreenlife Good to know that. Also, about the book, even in Bengali Hindu tradition, we are supposed to give or take a book with both our hands. It is also wrong to drop a book on the ground or tread on it.
I think in the end, all cultures and traditions have one true, primordial source.
@@souvikdeb2523 that's so interesting! Yeah. Thank you for spring that with me. I think all cultures that have survived had immerse respect for knowledge.
@@ladygreenlife An Iranian thing? Really? I’m Bosnian and I do it everytime I cook which is pretty much every day 😂
@@Ami-rb2hu Hi Ami! I think leftover is something any wise person does! I was explaining a concept in the culture that goes beyond having leftovers. 😊❤
Kind of what it’s all about. Love seeing you two together.
I did not know how much I needed to see you cook with your dad. Thank you!
This warms my heart.
The crusty bottom is awesome. I’m making this for my 97 year old dad this weekend for lunch. Maybe with some lamb stew.
Tahdig is Iran’s gift to the world. Super cute video of father and daughter cooking together. Rice dance!
I don't know why for some time I thought it would be great to see Farideh with her father doing a show. So I was just so happy and blown away to see this episode. What a wonderful and kind person. Hope to see more of the family and some family favorites cooks. To you and all your family, Peace be with you.
This was so delightful to watch. I hope you two can do another recipe together soon!
No "Sicily!" and F-bombs today. 😉
People all around the world love when the rice makes the crust! Here in Italy, we love when our "risotto alla milanese" has the crust! In my family we literally fight for the crust...
In Spain, a proper "paella Valenciana" shall have the crust!
Yes, in Catalan-Valencian we call this crust "socarrat" which means burnt.
Funnily enough, "paella" literally means just "pan", but since paella is cooked on a pan the name stuck.
Thank you for this presentation.
I want to take the chance to thank you and your dad.
Thank you for showing respect to our parents, who raised us and made us who we are today..
Thank you for showing the appreciation of the blessings that we enjoy, including rice that we sometimes take for granted, while so many other people may sleep hungry because they have no food.
Thanks
Just loved this! Such wonderful father-daughter love fest!👏👏
Her dad is so awesome!
Its so nice that you can show a part of your heritage and with your fam; things to be thankful for this year!
Now THIS, I live for!
My grandfather was Persian (though you'd never know by looking at me lol) and just passed this year. One of my favorite memories was when I made the rice for our Baghali Polo and it got his approval :)
Loved this video with her father. Reminded me of my dad's love towards me🤪... So special
I love that he has they Blue Birds of Happiness in his kitchen window. They are/were made where I am in NW Arkansas. 🥰
Takes me back to Reza's in Chicago.
Im making this as we speak ! Just also took a class on it. Wish me luck azizam ! You and Your dad are so cute. ❤❤😊
You nailed it you made it perfect. My mom has been a cook for over 25 years and you just made the tadeek better than she can considering she cooks it with every meal😊
Jannnn! I love everything about this. Beautiful relationship, authentic cooking and hilarious! Mashallah
I hope you do more videos with your family because although your creativity is always on point, this may have been one of your best! It was readily apparent how much you enjoyed making this video and that without alcohol or even one Sicily uttered :)
Nuestra tradicional pega!🤓🇨🇴
My local Persian restaurant specializes in tahdig rice. So many delicious stews to go with the crispy rice 😍😋
In the Philippines we call the crunchy burnt rice “Tutong” and I love it! I will definitely try Tahdig!!!
In the Catalan countries we cal it "socarrat".
Holy crap, she was right around the corner from me! I grew up in Hyattsville, then moved to Harwood, then finally my family settled in Chesapeake Beach. Had a friend in Davidsonville so spent a lot of time there. Parents were married at the Holy Family church off of 424, and the one across the street makes the best peach pies for the yearly peach festival. Wow, I wish I could have chilled with Farideh!
I love her!!
As a Aussie who grew up w Persians friends,
I miss this dish so much!
Was that her grams in the background or her mom? love she chillin
Hi from Annapolis, MD. Thanks for the lesson!
My wife is from Iran, I love Iran and iranian food! I can cook as an iranian ! Am I iranian now?😀😀
hell i'm from north of iran(Gilan) and we have best rice and best tahdig. i love tahdig especially lavash tahdig
Hello fellow Marylander! I just learned of tahdig yesterday and ran right out to Moby Dick because I was starving and didn’t have time to cook. But can’t wait to try your recipe at home!!! Thank you - you’re very fun!!!
So friggin' adorable
Omg I loved this video! Thanks so much for sharing your family with us during this time where family ti.e matters the most!! 🙌🏾
Great video , enjoyed father and daughter cooking rice!
In Catalan-Valencian the burnt rice is called socarrat and is also something that one sort of looks out for in recipes. Sometimes you want it but you don't want to overcook it.
Yay! You finally left the apartment. You and your family stay safe.
this is wholesome
That looks really good. It was cool seeing you cook with your dad. Sharing a meal with family makes it so much better. It was also really cool to see a traditional dish from another culture.
Saw this ONCE on Shahs of Sunset & never seen it again 😳🧐🤦🏽♀️🎉🥰☺️🥳
This is beautiful! 🧡 I miss my dad 😿 Farideh, please hug your dad for me, will ya'?
Thanks for sharing your Pops.
Basmati is my favorite cultivar of rice. Nothing beats it.
Love her shes so amazing
you and your dad are so precious
What a beautiful family! I love cooking with my 33 year old daughter, too! So fun.
As an Iranian I don't care for most Iranian dishes, I always cook for myself. But I know Iranian dishes can be a real new experience for other people.
And one thing that I'm sure about is that Iranians know rice. Real deal good quality rice imported from Iran has a powerful flavor.
This was adorable. This really made me want to hang out with my mom and learn some recipes from her. Fuck covid for keeping us all apart.
I miss cooking with my dad so much. Cherish your dad Farideh (but I'm positive you do).
❤ Always watching from Fiji. Love you show Farideh.
Love this and an awesome dad
Great father and daughter show,
Give my regards to your dad!
I've saved this for later since it came out...my Persian father didn't teach me how to make tahdig, my Irish Italian mommy did. It's the only way I eat rice and there's nothing better than the crispy tahdig with a spoonful of ghorme sabzi or khoresht karafs.
I look she very happiness her dad. I loves this video !
excelente
Thankyou so much for this! I'm making tahdig for the first time this evening and I'm really nervous about the flipping out of pot part myself so it makes me feel better that even experts get a bit nervous too! 😂
Hello dad cooking with dad is awesome
Love this content. This is why we love Farideh!
Favorite video of her cooking !
This video is so wholesome :D
So great!!
Can't wait to visit Iran and have Tahdig there. Thank you for the recipe! More Persian recipes please ❤️
Looks amazing, but sorry the best part of this is your amazing father! Hi from 🇵🇸
I love that you are still using Revere Ware!
This man needs his own show
Loved this episode.
He somewhere lowkey sounds like Larry David loved this
I loved the video. Will try the rice on Nowruz + Mahi Kebab
In Ayisien cuisine it's also a delicacy... We call it "gratain".
I love this woman,
I love the dad so cute
