As someone who likes building and riding Frankenstein bikes. This game feels right at home for me. I get what you’re saying with advanced game mechanics like braking and shifting to add more engagement than holding down an accelerator button/trigger.
Game developer here, those trigger mechanics sound fun haha. I could only see it working in a way that also has a mini-game for pedal timing, e.g sqaure and circle need to be pressed at the right times to get 100% power from your legs. Could be a fun gamejam game if nothing else
Haha yeah, I actually started coming up with an idea to rotate one or both thumb sticks for pedaling, but the idea was kinda trash unless you have thumb sticks with force feedback, so i cut that idea from the video :)
Ive been stoked for this too, I'm a gamer who loves riding bikes. I hope they can implement a Bakfiets like a Larry vs Harry Bullitt when you customize your frame, itll fit since it's a speedy cargo bike. I own a Bullitt myself, best bike I've ever owned! The gaming space needs more games like this, right now I'm playing Parcel Corps which is a arcade bike messenger game that came out this past October, it's got multiplayer and stuff but honestly they should've cooked it a little longer as it's not very polished; good potential if they plan on updating it better.
I'm probably going to play Parcel Corps after I'm done with Wheel World. It looks like Sunset Overdrive but with a bike :D Yeah let's hope they polish it a bit before I get to it, then :)
Don't forget that we also have the game Parcel Corps, which is probably the most accurate game about messengers. I'm also looking forward to that game. I hope it allows for a fixed gear bike.
Damn, I just watched the trailer! That looks awesome! Like sunset overdrive but with a bike. I had never even heard about it. I’ll put that on my queue, but I won’t play it before Wheel World.
That's a fun idea, never really thought about playing cycling related games of any kind, even though having skateboarded (and cycled) for a long time, I love games like skate 3 or Session - although this is of course much more arcade in nature.
i went through a phase when i played gta 5 where i rode my bikes all the time and clocked in like 500 miles on just bikes. this game looks perfect for a bike enjoyer like me hehe
Right trigger = front brake Left trigger = rear brake Right bumper = right pedal Left bumper = left pedal A = rear derailleur gear up B = rear derailleur gear down X = front derailleur gear up Y = front derailleur gear down Right stick click = bell Left stick click = shout Both stick clicks = AirZound
I game and ride bikes as well, I would love to see more gaming content in the future especially from Wheel World, but I agree that this seems more arcade-y than an actual cycling game
This game looks like it has a lot of potential! I play Forza Horizon 5 and love the ability to tune specific parts of the car to fractions of inches, degrees, etc. It would be awesome to see features in this game similar to that, such as adjusting tire pressures, handlebar angle, seat height, gear ratios. Though I agree it looks less like a simulation so don’t expect all those features
Imagine that, but you use a smart trainer to pedal! That'd be my dream videogame.
Hehe yeah that would be really cool!
oh boy have I got a game for you
Is it Zwift?
I prefer mywoosh.
Like zwift.. But free

Yeah. We just have to wait and see! As long as the vibe is nice, it will probably be fun.

Cell shading is such a welcome style for games like this.
JSRF vibes so timeless.
Yeah I do have a soft spot for it! Never played Jet Set Radio tho

Fixie tricks tony hawk style would be so intuitive on a controller

Imagine if they made it compatible with bike trainers.
Haha yeah, that would be lovely!
Right trigger = front brake

X = front derailleur gear up
Y = front derailleur gear down

Love it! Except the British style hand brakes where right hand is front brake :D But that’s an option!
I put it straight on my wish list, it looks fun
Cool beans! Tell me how you like it if you play it :)

Less arcade-y than Descenders at least - a game that I wish I liked more than I actually do.
We shall wait and see :) It has great music btw, I didn’t mention that, but the song from the trailer is fire!
Looks like a good , fun game. I really hope multiplayer is an option. Could have had an Addvurt bikes community race 🚴
Exactly! I would love to host multiplayer sessions!

Yeah those things sound way too niche for this game, but I agree it would be cool! Is Horizon 5 open world?
@ Yes it is open world with many options to join races
Need something else to ride a bike on except from GTA and Season: A Letter to the Future.
I would totally check out that Season game but I don’t have a PlayStation. Maybe in the future!
Let's play please!!!
Count on it!
Guess we'll stick with GTA
For riding bikes? I guess, but it’s not really designed for that, is it?
how much did they pay you buddy
lol, I wish!
