Here’s how to avoid snowboard pain, ski for years so you have a deep loathing of the feeling of ski boots, then switch. You will not have any problems with snowboard boots.
Lol..so true! I have a 4E wide foot, the pain is real.
Or get your ski boots fitted professionally and with a custom insole. Neither my ski or my snowboard boots hurt.🤷🏾♂️🇬🇧
Can confirm, it works!
Biiiiig facts
exactly what i’m doing
I tried snowboarding recently and all i gotta say is that snowboard boots are much much much more comfy than ski boots. + snowboarding is hella fun
Based and board pilled
Only chick's ski
Probably because you rented and they were already broken in....
when i bought my first snowboard and boots and all that good stuff the guy helping me pick out boots made sure the boots were comfortable with snowboard socks and made me wear them and walk around in them for about 15/20 minutes. good man
Now that’s a salesperson.
good man
Skiier here, wearing in the store for 30 minutes doesn’t do much but identify relative size and to a slight extent, pressure points, walking around in the 70 degree store is very different from being locked into your binding on a 25 degree mountain.
i never thought id see kev try boas... but welcome to the club :)
Haha, we’ll see how they go
I definitely prefer boas! You can quickly adjust your boots atop the lift, and I can get a way more secure boot.
I was a very early Boa adopter about fifteen years ago when only about two companies offered it. It’s amazing to see it everywhere including cycling and running shoes today. Still surprised more aren’t using step in bindings though. Have used Flow for about 20 years!
👍🏿🇬🇧
Some boots can be custom fitted. You get them to put the liners in the boot oven in the shop and then you put the liners in the boots and crank them down on your feet for a while. Some shops have special kits to put spacers on your toes and pads on your pressure points. Game changer!
How to avoid snowboard boot pain
This guy: buy boots that don't hurt
Next video: how to avoid falling while snowboarding
This guy: snowboard so you don't fall
its kinda true though, for boots getting the perfect size makes all the difference. to avoid falling the more experience u get the less it happens
boots are complex dude. not everyone knows the ins and outs of snowboard boots. theyre not jsut regular shoes.
I think the key point here is wearing them for a long time before buying. 30mins is the minimum I guess. When you order them online just wear them at home for 1-2 hours and then decide if you want to send them back.
I suppose many people buy stuff and might try it on but will only really wear it for a long time when they are on the mountains - when it is too late to give/send back.
Pull the stock foot beds out. Stand on them to make sure your feet fill the whole footbed. Put foot beds back in, put boots on. Make sure you feel the liner in the tips of your toes. Buy the boots as well as aftermarket foot beds with arch support. Heat mold as last resort.
WEAR THEM AROUND THE HOUSE. Save your money. Mine are broke in before I even hit the slopes.
This really is the best advice and yet, so few of my friends actually did this. I had mine broken in before even getting them out in the snow and our whole group was complaining of foot / boot pain and mine were fine cuz I wore them for like 15 ish hours combined around the house first. Wish I had heat molded them first but wearing around the house was so helpful.
That's some solid advice and should be way more common knowledge imo. It's not just useful for snowboard boots though and I'd like to add some useful experience especially for people with inconveniently formed feet like myself:
It's good advice with proper shoes as well, especially with hefty leather boots or some such, like classic man's boots, heavy work or hiking boots.
Don't forget - it's not just your boots that wear in, but your feet wear in as well.
Sometimes that might be even way more important in some regards!
They need a chance to callous where needed so you don't rub and stress your unprepared skin to the point of blistering.
Pressure points are often absolutely unavoidable ime, my foot shape for example is a nightmare and there's probably not one single boot in the high stiffness "hardboot-ish" softboot-category that fits perfectly or even just really good without preparation. But our body can deal with that just fine and has its own way of distributing such kinds of point loads and whatnot, it just needs some time for that. It obviously won't happen properly if you go from 0 to 100 on your first day on the slopes and might not happen properly if you just start wearing them around the house. I just get massive blisters without much warning signs if I don't start out carefully.
I always do it progressively nowadays if they're rather tight, stiff or otherwise in desperate need of being properly worn in. Starting with just 15 minutes and not too much movement at first and take it from there. If there's a soft red spot starting to develop somewhere a one day break is in order and after that start again by going one step back.
Completely stopped me from always having to deal with blisters and being an avid blister plaster user during snow season for good. You can really feel how a callous pad forms to spread the load over a wider area - which doesn't just prevent blisters but makes those boots way more comfortable!
spend the summer cutting the grass with your board boots on.. lol
I did the same thing with my tracers and I ended up with hot spots just above my ankle bone where the boot creases. But after 5 days of riding and hearing the boots up to wear them in, they relaxed enough to not hurt anymore.
I recently got some burton photons that gave me heel/ankle pain after a day of riding. But I had them heat molded and now they are super comfortable with no pressure points
Oooh whats best modelling? They mold to your feet by heat?
Heat molding saved me after 1 day of suffering in Mammoth. Went to a shop and got them heat molded and had really no pain after that
Boas are the best thing to ever be invented. Even my work boots have a Boa system.
Cool! I didn’t know they also do work boots!
At the end I though he would say “and most importantly, I got them for half price” lmao
Get some aftermarket insoles. The insoles that comes with boots are crap and will loose their comfort real quick
Good boots with crap insoles feel like such a waste. Tread Labs footbeds are the best I’ve found so far.
I really needed this. My snowboarding boots are awful and crushed my feet.
Comfort, security, and ease of use make the Boa system unmatched.
Get that sponsor money
For me it was buying a gel sole that solved all problems
Heat molding your boot is key. A perfect fitting boot is pretty uncomfy before heat molding but will be just perfect after that.
How to do this?
@@jacobshank9362 watch the REI video. ruclips.net/video/FH1Ig8TB72I/видео.html
Do not do this unless your boots are too small and you cannot exchange or return them. Your boots will mold to your foot after several days of snowboarding. I’ve done thousands of boot fits. Heat molding is a last resort, and the high heat will lower the longevity of your snowboard boot
@@jacobshank9362 don’t
And especially don’t use that microwave technique. If you must, go to a shop and use the device created for that very purpose. They rarely charge you to do it
Thanks
"I wore them in the store for 7 hours to ensure they didn't hurt my feet "
I got admit, I don’t think the single boa system is as good as doing it one separate for the toes because it felt like my toes never really got snug but around my calf was really snug
What’s the best way to get around foot cramps in boas? I feel like boas tighten around my calves way more than any part of my foot.
Get a double boa boot, or get a boot fitting (proper footbed, extra foam applied to loose places, heat molding, etc). But the best way is to find a boot that fits your foot.
With boa you can take quick brakes and release the pressure between runs. You can't do that on a regular boot
the way you ride also affects they way your boot would feel throughout the day
Good stretch before riding
@@AlexanderKontsevoy WORD! Also just small changes to your stance (binding angle, width etc.) can make a huge difference. That‘s why I like double BOA and the burton channel system. U can make tiny changes super fast.
Or you could get them fitted/heat molded to your feet like you're supposed to.
In my left boot my toes just go numb for some reason but in my right boot everything's perfectly fine.
Wow thanks for the lesson
I bought the same boots last year and I get a mild pressure spot when I ride switch where the boot bends.
Good socks, boots which fit with peoper adjustemnt and you are fine to go
Don't forget to put #ad in the title
Toe socks also help cura foot pain
I wore them in the store for 8hrs 😂
Good work!
Cool boots
Just buy vans snowboardboots most comfy👌🏽
Vans don't fit my foot shape at all. Probably the worst manufacturer for me personally. Salomon and K2 seem to be right for me.
I rent the same they are beast
What do you do if the boots cause calf pain due to the top of the boot? I get bruises, they're super sensitive. Guy said they fit me very well and it's just something I have to get used to. I don't get pain anywhere else
I had the same problem, a low back boot helps a lot and doesn’t suffer much with stiffness.
@@nevinstiles9370 I'll have to check some out, love my boots but I shouldn't have to deal with bruises
@@smac1130 burton motto, vans hi-standard, or adidas samba are all nice lower cut boots
@@nevinstiles9370 sick, thanks!
Shins are beat right now. Can’t always feel in store.
Ur lucky stores have ur size. Live in Asia the biggest size they got is like a size 9
As a skier...when snowboarders complain about boot pain I laugh
Bought the stepon system and boots but my feet hurt so bad😅
Bro you ever tried skiing snowboard boot pain is nothing compared to ski boot pain
It‘s a different sort of pain. If you heat mold your boots and get the right size u should hardly feel any pain in either one of them :). But a bad fitting ski boot is definitely worse than a bad fitting snowboard boot that‘s right…
I already messed up and bought burtons that kill me while snowboarding. Anything that can be done other than throwing these away? Any way to stretch them or something?
heat mold them and if that doesn’t work just wear them around the house and try to break them in more over time they’ll loosen up
how much toe pressure is too much, i could just feel my toe touching, but when i made turns it felt like my big toe was being jammed into the end. maybe it just being a beginning the way i am moving my feet?
also good tip, get boots with LACES, those mechanisms will break very quickly and you will waste more money, also laced boots are easier to adjust and are way more comfy
Nope, have had mine for years. Robust and much quicker to adjust tension
DO NOT walk around with new boots. These are not sneakers.
You want to break in them by riding so they only flex at riding movements. If they have the tech, go through the heat molding in the liner.
Store worker: so you gonna buy em orrrrr
You got boas!!
Thought you liked traditional laces?
I bought used boots and they let me ride them (it was a ski resort shop). I just had to give my crappy boots. Got them for 60€!
What stance socks do you rock? Ultralight or Medium cushion?
I’m snowboarding now yee haw
Intuition liners
Really don't see how 30 minutes walking simulates an entire day on the hill, half of which is spent with the weight of the snowboard dangling off one foot on the ski lift
30 MINUTES!!!, ain’t nobody including the staff got time for that!
Or... go to a shop where they actually know what they're doing. Me and my mate went to a shop. First pair he picked was by far the most comfortable. Wanted to try some other things but they just sucked.
Hi Kevin, no laces this time? Why?
Giving the boa system another try.
Oops. Tough color 🙈
Bro your a snowboarder, don’t complain
Im convinced there is no such thing as comfortable snowboard boots
Soft boy
I don't have any stores near me. Over 3years I ordered and returned about 10 boots. Finally found a pair that fit right. They didn't even hurt the first day I wore them. Amazing. I never thought I could snowboard without pain
Just don’t buy boots that are soft, you at least get the tm2 from thirtytwo and you are set to go, if they are rigid you have space to support your weight against them instead pf straining your muscles
I don't think it matters. If the boot is new your feet for the first week on the mountain will hate you. Doesn't matter if you "broke them in" while walking around or heat pressed your feet gunna feel numb first week of wear.
Keviiin👍
So u go to a store and walk around like 30m to be sure?
I’m I the only one whose area under the foot hurt when you Snowboard?
what if i cant find a boot that fits around my calfs they all feel really tight?
How do you remove them?
Vans 👌
Which socks do you use man!
The old method was; if you don’t have painful pressure points, they’re too big. 🤣
my calf's get very sore after a few hours of snowboarding. I don't know why
Whole muscle hurting or pressure point from the boot. Toe turns are supposed to make ur whole calves hurt until youre body gets used to it or ride often
They're weaker than the other muscles in your legs, don't worry with more practice and work they'll become stronger.
What's your stance width? And your forward lean?
30mins!

thanks
So you just stood their with boots you don’t even own yet in the store for 30mins?😂😂
It's a common practice to make sure your multiple hundred dollar purchase is right for you. Do you just go in and blindly buy boots? All brands fit a lil different 😂😂
Are k2 borders good and what park bored do you recommend for a intermediate
Theres not border security at K2. The park is fun. I never get bored
POV u are a skier:
What should I do if my ankle/heel moves in my boots and after a few runs It starts hurting? Gotta buy new ones or is there a trick I dont know about? I tried fastening them really tight but it still hurt :(
Try putting in some insoles. If this won‘t work u might think of getting smaller ones :/ heat molding also changes the boot a lot (to the better) but I don‘t know if that will benefit you since it seems like yout boots are too big and heat molding usually makes the shoe bigger. But u could try it too it eliminates pressure points as well.
As chris said. Insoles that fit your foot shape. That solved it for me.
Custom insoles
This is Daddy Noel's song. Give it back.
Can someone explain the sizing? I like snug skate shoes so I tried to wear the same size in Burton and my foot was crushed. The salesman then said that the boot would expanded by twelve percent?
There's a lot of padding in them that gets compressed over time. I wear an 8.5 in sneakers but I need a 7 in snowboarding boots
Somebody made a commission.
@@jan41300 my foot would break the boot if I tried that
@@rjbennett3418 that's what I was thinking too
@@Berry500Laps check out Angry Snowboarder. He's got a few about boot fitting. The best boot is the one that fits. Good luck.
I think if someone wants a nice life out of a pair of heat molded liners and boots, they need to hurt a bit for the first ten days before they’re broken in. Trim those toenails short!
Already got my boots and my heels are pretty loose, any advice? Do I have to get new boots?
Unfortunately yes. I made the same mistake and will have to do the same. Bought mine as a beginner and now I regret buying them because my heel is always lifting. I have to either tighten the hell out of my boas and my binding to keep my heel down, which ends up leavdng to foot pain, or leave them a comfortable tightness and get massive heel lift
you should. i sprained my ankle and found out my boots were 1.5 sizes too big. i had heel lift and ankle rolling
@@Doomsday604 You think it's possible I could fix the problem by putting a cloth in my boot to make up for the extra space? I think it might be too late for me to return them. 😅
@@MaxFung I'm sorry you had to deal w/ that. I think I've had other close calls because of my sketchy riding this year, which I'm fairly sure was because of my boots (or just skill haha). I've already gone through most of the season with these boots, so I'll probably wait till next year to buy another pair.
@@madisonking2615 get some J bars and put them on top of your liner
Spent Money for wider jaws .. ist makes you dominant and trustworthy
What type of pain are you talking about? Pressure pain or just not broken in boots pain?
Or get your boots heat fit for free
can anyone hear that dude , talking to a white razor ?
Is that just the inner boot? Where is the rest lmao
Start off with boots that are a half size smaller than you would usually wear.
Ok so the advice here is just " try them on"

Footpain? Wear skiing boots.
Ditch the annoying music please?
