It's a day in my life as an Orthodox Jewish mother of four! We start our day with my morning routine which included getting challah for Shabbat started plus making breakfast for the kids. Then I have a short chat with you to catch you up on life before making my bed with fresh new sheets and getting started on our homeschool day plus making the challah. After our homeschool was complete and the challah was baked, I worked on packing up some picnic lunches for us and we headed out to the park for an afternoon of playing with friends in the beautiful Texas weather. Around dinner time we got back in the car to head home and start riding down our day, but I was not done yet :) I definitely needed a break and a reset so I did that and then got ready to head out to a scarf sale (tichel / head cover / hair covering sale). It was so much fun and I got some beautiful pieces. After returning home for the night (and it was a late night for me!) I show you all what I purchased at the hair covering sale and then closed out the video so I could go to bed :) Thank you for watching this day in my Orthodox Jewish life!

Oh some of those are so cute! It reminds me of my grandma saying something to me when I was a new mom. “Why doesn’t your generation wear hats? I don’t know how you mother and get ready without hats! That’s how we hid our not clean hair and could look good where ever we went” 🤭 now I have four kids. I’m 15 years older and headcoverings make way more sense. My sister in law has a snoozie (spelling sorry) and she loves it!
I totally agree with your grandma! I have so much more time in my day not having to worry about washing, drying, and styling my hair every day :)

So many beautiful things in this video- Baby Firefly’s precious voice, the bread, the day at the park, the new head coverings. Isn’t it so nice to buy something for ourselves that makes us feel pretty?!?! I loved seeing your little baker helping you weigh the dough to make the strands for the challah. I am impressed that you braided 6 strands. I don’t make bread, but I do braid my granddaughter’s hair and one meal I make with crescent rolls and 3 strands can be a challenge for me! I cannot even begin to imagine doing 6.

Lol the NCLEX exam commercial cracks me up, in the old days we used flash cards. Got together in a group, we all had little kids, we paid a babysitter.

Hey Chana! Another great vid. Two things: 1 I’d love to see a dedicated video of you “modelling” your new scarves and the styles you’ll wear them in.
2. Question: Do you ever pray/put intention into your food as you make it? I’m a kitchen witch and pagan so much of my spiritual experience takes place over the stove/ mixing bowl/ chopping board. You’ve shown and talked about some of the blessings over food and before you eat, snd I know so many rituals and traditions in Judaism focus around mealtimes so I was wondering if you ever knead blessings into your Challah, for example!

And to answer your food question, there is no obligation to pray or have intention on our food as we prepare it. That said, I 100% cook with love and want people to feel that love when I cook so if that counts as intention then yes it’s something that I personally do, but it’s not like a legal Jewish requirement if that makes sense

I also keep those little horizon milk boxes in my pantry for days like yours. It has made my morning much better just to realize I can have the tea or cereal before having to run to the store.

Shelf stable milk is a life saver in my house. We always have a case of those little cows milk ones that you have and also some of the shelf stable almond milk. It took a few years of always running out milk at the worst time for me to figure out that trick!

Those scarves are so pretty! I love that green and the pewter. It would be great to see ways to tie the really long scarves. I’m sure you could have a lot of fun with them. As for my week, it’s been intense. I’m very grateful for my life and try to always remain in gratitude when I feel like complaining.
