The street rod phenomenon really got going in the early 1950's. There was a good supply of old 29 Fords around, and the new overhead valve V-8's were hitting the market. This was the perfect combination for a young man who was good with his hands. The Model A street rods were light, powerful and cheap to build. But most importantly they were very fast!
Features
V-8 Engine with 2 different intake styles.
Choice of 2 different frame types.
Choice of steering wheels and headlights.
Molded in white and clear.
Chrome plated parts.
Soft black tires.
149 Parts.
The Ford Model A (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among rodders and customizers)[3] was the Ford Motor Company's second market success after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2,[4] it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 1903-04) was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors.By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by July 24, two million.[5] The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at US$500 (in grey, green, or black)[5] to the Town Car with a dual cowl at US$1200.[6] In March 1930, Model A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available.[5]Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles.[7] Its successor was the Model B, which featured an updated inline four-cylinder engine, as well as the Model 18, which introduced Ford's new flathead (sidevalve) V8 engine.
The Model A was well represented in media of the era since it was one of the most common cars. Model kits remain available from hobby shops as stock cars or hot rods.Several Model As have obtained particular fame. The "Mean Green Machine", a green and black 1931 Tudor Sedan, has been a staple of University of North Texas football games and special events since 1974, maintained by the spirit organization Talons since the 1980s. The Ramblin' Wreck, a 1930 Sport Coupe, is the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology and appears at sporting events and student body functions. Ala Kart, a customized 1929 roadster pickup built by George Barris, won two straight "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" awards at the Oakland Roadster Show before making numerous film and television appearances. Between October 1992 and December 1994, Hector Quevedo, along with his son Hugo, drove a 1928 Model A 22,000 mi (35,406 km) from his home in Punta Arenas, Chile to Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The car required minimal service, including a flat tire and transmission work in Nicaragua, and is now housed in the Henry Ford Museum.[21]Charlie Ryan's song "Hot Rod Lincoln" featured a modified Model A. The song has been covered several times since its original release.

Revell of Germany instructions list and name every single part ! Great kit of the "real " Hot Rods. Thanks Chris.
When I got back into model building I went out and spent probably too much on a certain brand of CA glue by some Mr Smith guy. However I find that Gorilla Glue Gel works as good if not better. It’s also available at the truck stops I park at nightly. Next time I’m home I may stock up on some dollar store super glue.
Most work well, enjoy man!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
I love that tire sanding tip. I’m definitely using that!
Yeah he gave a good one. Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Soooo happy to see this coming back. Hopefully they'll have the coupe back out at some point. Either way, this one's a parts box dream for guys that like traditional hotrods.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Great tip with the socket
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Beautiful piece of work!...Done in the sense of what a real hot rod is!
Thanks for watching!
August 2021 I've seen it at Hobby Lobby. Plan on going back to get one.
I am getting back into modeling, after stopping in my late teens. Now retired, I have time, a few bucks, and am going through what cars I have owned and driven during my life, as the goal model cars to build. (probably ... mostly ... maybe building them as they were while I owned the actual cars), but as over 50 years, I have owned a considerable amount of cars. Regrettably many of the cars I have owned, are not available in kits. So I have some 'muscle' wish cars in my collection as well. Enjoyed some 'tricks' and 'hacks' that you showed in building, especially the tire tread sanding. This is my first video I have seen of yours, and will look through some older videos, but if not already done, or as an update for newer viewers, I would like to know more about the vent hood where you paint. The turntable and various clips you use for painting .... and more tricks and hacks. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.
Plenty of that stuff in the hundreds of videos I've done.
I've reviewed the paint booth.
The parts holders are Tamiya Paint Stands from Modelroundup.com and the alligator clip ones are soldering helping hands.
Thanks for taking time to watch a video, enjoy the rest!
Great build! I have been eyeing this kit for a while to add. Suggestion for you and anyone else. I just picked up the Revell 1932 Ford 5 window Coupe kit if you like these old 1920s and 1930s street rods. You can make it so many ways with 2 different body styles (with fenders or as a high boy fenderless), 3 different engine combinations (Ford old flathead, a 302 Ford or the late model Mustang 5.0 engine) and it has 3 different wheel styles (chrome aftermarket rims, steelies, or steelies w/ hubcaps).
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
It's amazing how many ways this can be built, my kind of kit-i wouldn't know which way to go except using the steel wheels with the moon hubcaps, either way it turns out awesome !
I'm still deciding how I'm going to do the second kit video myself, we'll see!
Great colour combo Chris. The white against the burgundy really pops!!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
When you test fitted the tires and wheels on the chassis, it reminded me of an old school go kart. Unique build. I like!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Wouldn't mind driving this down the avenue some day. Pretty sharp - great build again. Thanks
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Nice kit,it's even got an alternator bracket. No more floating alternator!!
Even if it is a Chevy/GM engine! I don't approve of mismatched motors. If it's a Ford, put a Ford in it, Chevy gets a Chevy. Unless it's some odd ball engine like a Cadillac flathead or a Packard etc.
Looks like a lot nicer kit than the last model A I built. AMT pro shop roadster. Was a mess. Had to do a lot of filie work and sanding to make things fit right.
Gonna have to i try the tire sanding Gizmo. It kills my arthritis holding the tires when I sand them!
tom cline nice thing is the kit has plenty of potential , mine will have a Flathead ford or a 427/428 , Im thinking I will build many of them . Can’t wat for the ‘30 5 window coupe
@@davidjohnmiller4849 Yep. I've done both, put flathead in an old model T delivery and a 427 SOHC in a A roadster. Something else about this kit, I'd move the engine forward a half inch, and rebuild the firewall as flat as I could. Just me,I like that flat firewall look. Ol hpiguy builds some amazing models,he just doesn't have to time to alter things and scratch build inconsequential stuff. I'd love to see him go nuts on a kit!!
Thanks Tom!
Yes, with a kit build every two days, and videos, it's not easy to take it much further, plus the main reason is the companies want them built as is.
💘 the touches you added to this build-( flame decals and spinners on the wheels )... 😎 that there are so many options to this build... You can personalize it to your own tastes...
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
I bought this kit an hour ago because of this video. That is my actual dream car
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Just a simple tip, use the rear axle mounts that are on the frame to locate the axle and springs, but do not glue the axle to frame and then after the springs and trailing arms are set cut the mounts off. This will let the axle look like it could move up and down.
Those back tires are gorgeous. Kit bashing material right there! And a driver figure would have been a nice touch. Are you listening, Revell?
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
That tire sanding trick looks very handy. You can also clamp a tire on a bolt between two washers, then chuck the bolt into a drill.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
I just got this today from hobby lobby 👍
This is a "Must Buy" kit! Can't wait to put my special touch on one of these!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Absolutely Gorgeous Chris, I'm picking up at Least 1 More of These (have 1 in My Stash Already) from Original Issue. God Bless All.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Man I thought it was a full size car on the click bait photo. Good job. The end photos do look like the real thing.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Need to get me a few of those, got some 392's and 409's lying around!
Working on a '37 Ford Sedan at the moment, fenderless....😎
Great looking build shagger! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻😎
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
that;s a builder nice job chris !!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
YEAH, Revell really did pull this off after the fiasco from a couple years ago! Hopefully they will run the "s^*t" ouya these as I know modelers who will buy 4 or 5 kits themselves. You did a really great job on this ... looking for the other version soon. Like your color and decals. Love that interior and frame work you did. Thanks!
I know ill be getting a few.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Very cool tire sanding trick. Will try that on next build. Great videos!!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Love the vids, I build. Funny my last build was the spirit of 57, Chevy, gasser, and that’s where those decals are from.
Right on!
That's really great and all. But I know why you don't want to use white wall tires on there. They might as well give you a roll of Teflon tape.
Sucks because I want the white walls, and I'm nervous about putting these on... I'm not very experienced with decals.
Nice build! Your touch on the frame really makes it stand out.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
I love that color/decal scheme. Thanks for showing us the kit!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
I built something simular to this years ago, in my youth!
However the kit I did, was not as detailed. The chassis
was kinda flimsey! Over the years I've probably rebuilt
it about a dozen times, because it got broken or just wanted
something to do... Gonna get this when it's out for sure!
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
WOW, another awesome build, great product representation, I normally don't do cars to much but after seeing this, I gotta get this, I'm impressed with the amount of parts, alot of entertainment for the buck.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Just when I say I'm not buying anything new for a while, here you go, Chris, inspiring me once more
Great tips and a beautiful build, the photoshoot was perfect too
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
@@hpiguy you're my go-to guy if I want to know if any kit is worth buying
Love this model. For sure will be building this, twice😉
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Turned out nice great-looking rod
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
The Little Deuce Coupe... One of the cars The Beach Boys made famous .....
As well as the 409..
If I remember correctly Robbie And The Daytonas performed the song Little GTO... Im not sure who did the songs Little Cobra and Mustang Sally..
Very very nice work.. cool as heck !!!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
great job again. your addition of the decals made me think of other post construction A/M parts. Perhaps you can fix up an engine on one of your existing builds with wiring, battery hoses etc? I have a large stash many from your show. They're backed up but this one is on the list
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Super nice build
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Sir can you make a video showing how you brush Future floor shine on a model ? Thank you
He has a few videos showing that.
@@13Dixiefried thanks I will have to keep looking
The Concept Camaro video I did covers it. It's uber simple.
@@hpiguy Thanks so cool you make it look so easy , Ive got to try it thanks
That was a great kit can't wait til it comes out
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
I'm gonna grab this kit from the hobby shop ..very cool build ( as always ) fantastic channel on model builds !!!!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Love the choice on the metalic color for dash.
Never would have thought of that with the drill brilliant.👍👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Nice build.
Now if only Revell would do us a Lincon engine for that "Hot Rod Lincoln..." While the AMT Double kits of '25 Model T feature a Lincoln mill, detail is pretty sketchy, and as far as I can recall, annual kits of Lincolns have the annoying hole in block & oil pan "feature" to accomodate "pass through" metal axle. Interesting to note that relatively few speed parts were available in 1:1, other than induction setup. Hey Revell, a dual quad carb, 6x2 barrel or injected set up would be fabulous! How's about "modern era" parts packs?
Of course another Frickin Beautiful Build Chris
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
@@hpiguy your welcome
Cool build
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Another great build....
Thanks! Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Chris, I was nice when I came home from work tonight and i watched another masterpiece being built. Thanks again, two 👍👍!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Superb. Will we get to see the other one?
The sanding trick is really good, but I have no drill sadly, so I'll have to keep doing it the old way.
Yes, I mentioned a few times I'll revisit this with a different build when it's finally out in the US. Thanks for coming along for the fun!
@@hpiguy I thought you meant that you'd build the other one later but not show it.
What a nice kit going to get me 1 love what you did with it really cool 😎 nothing like a double feature of the workshop tonight love that surfer music like on some builds
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
kool , thanx....I want one....Have you seen the prices on the Pick0up one....OMGoodness...hope they re-issue that one too...Rock pnnnn Master Chris
Robert
great job on this one....Hey , ??? Are those the same wheels , as in the Stacey D, Kit ?
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
I don't know, I wasn't smart enough to grab that Stacy kit when it was out.
I really like the direction you went with this build. Keep up the great work and R.I.P.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
I’m a little late for the show, but this is a fantastic build. One of your best.
Thanks a bunch!
Im new to this channel but im liking it. I havnt built in years. Im just healing up from a btk amputation so im kinda chair/landlocked . Im just trying to get back into it to busy myself. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Man what a decal sheet. I cant wait till march. This is definitely at top of want list. Great review as always

Can anyone tell me a store to buy models at these days , I don't see them anymore , ???? Your he will be greatly appreciated , thanks in advance !!!!!!!
Link to order your kit from Modelroundup.com is in the description, it will be in stock in March. Enjoy!
Some kits are getting really hard to come by for me in the UK :(
If you have a Hobby Lobby store near you, you fine almost anything you want. But ordering online seems to be the way of getting them now.
Amazing job another one of my favorites
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Great build Chris 👍👍
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Awesome ,I love the sanding tire tip
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Love that detail on the engine.
Awesome build as always you're an artist
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
The first chassis is a modified 1932 Ford and the second chassis is the Model A chassis
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
I’m going to go ahead and say it before I watch it great build as always 👍👍👍
Like always!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Very Cool build! Chris
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Your channel is awesome!!! This is this next in line for me. I appreciate watching before I start to give me heads up on potential trouble and ideas. Thanks so much, keep up the great work.....
Awesome! Thank you!
Looks like a lot of nice details in this kit..
Some of the parts are from the 1930 coupe kit, like the top insert. Nice build as always.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Nice build love it
Oh wow!! I may need a case of these!!
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
I keep watching model builds and surprized using super glue so much. A few spots it seemed like you did not even hold the parts tight to bond. Surprised too that people use the craft type paints which I would think too thick.
It all works very very well. Rarely do you need to hold parts for glue to bond.
Love your builds. I always like you color choices. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
That turned out awesome Chris, can't wait to see what you do with the next one 👍👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
New subscriber. Love this kit (original but looks pretty much the same) can’t wait for the coupe to come out again too Nice job on this will now start going through your older videos thanks
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
Outstanding job, looks like a real car!
Thank you, and thanks for watching the video and leaving a nice comment! Much appreciated!
Looks like something at a good guys show nice detail aa always
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
32:28 That shot looks like a car, not a model. I think it's the headlights that sell it the most along with those tires in that stance.
Your photography keeps getting better.
Thanks man!
Awesome Build, love the flame idea, perfect match. Again Awesome 😊❤👍👍
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
A need for my collection 😀😀 .. thanks for the review 👍👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Gotta get this one ! Love a nice Roadster ! Awesome build !
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Awesome!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Looks like you have a couple of options with the engine build on this one..
Do you prefer Revell
or AMT kits ?
Seems to me back in
the day Revell had
better detail.
I prefer any kit that I get to have fun building. ;)
On the next build, could u show how to do it with an opening trunk please??✌✌✌✌👍🐈😺
Like what you did with this!!!!!! I would have bet cash money, though, that you would have painted the fire wall red.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Lovely model!
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Very cool how do you display all your model's
Most get stored, some get displayed or given away.
Awsome job .Thanks for all the videos. Question what product do you use for Stripping paint from model bodies. I did see the subject on one of your posts but can't seem to find it. Your advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Super Clean soaked over night works really well on every paint but Tamiya Sprays.
The 32 ford hi boy should come back ,or all 32 ford hotrod kits
Thanks for coming along for the fun!
Nice little kit. Superb build and dig the end result. Well done 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
@@hpiguy
Your very welcome.
Have been trawling through some of your old vids and enjoying the results. Some fantastic models but not all available here in the UK.
Now winter is just around the corner, it's time to dust off the bench and set out some builds myself, 1/35 armour more than anything, but after watching your builds has inspired me to have a go at something different. Keep up the good work and enjoy 👍🏻
Is this the same mold as the one used for the '30 Model A from a few years ago?
I'm not sure but the 30 is due out this year as well if I heard correctly.
fantastic job. as always. thanks. and have a great day. Mike.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
