  • 2nd cut silage and following the wet but warm weather a very bulky grass crop indeed. Hitched to a Strimech buckrake a MF 399 and its operator (sporting a very cool hat!) together boss the incoming trailers resulting in a very full indoor clamp!

And thanks in return. Yes the 399 is just one of those great tractors as were many others from that period in time. Still lot’s of great classics still grafting hard in Cumbria, never get tired of seeing them. Thanks once again for your great comment, always appreciated. Cheers, David

Great video David, sounds very well the 399, the buckrake weighs a fair bit before you get it loaded with grass even, still doing a sterling job, cheers Steve . 🚜

Thanks Steve. Yes 100hp sounds nothing these days but with a proper 6-cylinder engine it’s certainly up to the job! Cheers, David

Thanks David for my dose of farming for today. That lad on the MF399 sure earned his keep on that day and I am sure his body also told him that and the end of the shift! For a tractor that was built probably mid ninety's, it sure sounded sweet for its age and the buck rake looked in good order too and like all buck rakes you wish it would hold more, that is until you find that soft spot and the tractor starts rolling or sinking lol.

Thank you Fraser, pleased I could bring the weekly episode to you. Yes he certainly did earn his keep, lots of gearshifting, lots of looking over your shoulder and lots of concentration! Yes the 399 is certainly sounding well, as you say mid- nineties so clocking on 30 years old but sounding sweet as a nut! It could certainly shift some grass but as you say you wish it could hold more until you find a soft spot! I think you might have been there before as have one or two others (not far from here!!) have also! Cheers Fraser, appreciation again for the great comment! Regards, David.

It’s a pleasure to reply to you Fraser and I’m pleased my videos help pass the time. I know what it’s like to be on your own, I’ve been there myself in the past though I was lucky to have my yellow Labrador Alfie (sadly he passed a couple of years ago) as a faithful companion and he accompanied me to many a farm. I’ve still got 4-5 videos ready to post and hopefully I can think up something for the winter months (I normally edit a few best of compilations at the end of the year) so I’ll look forward to your very welcome comments. Look after yourself Fraser, kind regards, David.

I can’t answer that Michael as I don’t know but it would have looked great on duals!
