If anyone is curious about how you're actually supposed to go about knowing the order to cut the wires for the bomb- on a stool inside Mattie’s dressing room is a script pamphlet in which the Serena lines are highlighted in yellow. When you click on the script, it appears a bit distant from the screen, then you can click on it again so it can take up the whole screen. As it turns out, the pages on the pamphlet can be turned, but ONLY if you click on the bottom right corner when it is not in close-up mode. The sequence of the colors on the pages represents the color sequence of the wires, and since yellow is the color found on the first page, the first wire that has to be cut is the yellow one. The second page includes part of a paragraph circled in red. The third page has a circular orange stain circling a couple of line segments. On the fourth page are four words underlined and the name “Serena Livingstone” circled in blue. I've been playing these games for over 15 years and it took me until a very recent playthrough to know this. The relief that Ian was so lucky to get the order correct on like the third attempt. Big kudos.
Even though this is one of the earliest Nancy Drew games that has some problems and hasn't found its footing yet, I still really liked the setting and the music was great (as always). Its sort of like Nancy Drew: The Final Scene; they both have actors, a performance stage etc., but The Final Scene was a lot better. The Final Scene, Curse of the Blackmoor and the Haunted Carousal are my top favorites that Ian's played so far.
That surprise ending puzzle and Ian's reaction to it was hilarious! I love watching these Nance streams/VODs. Been packing to move lately and it's been great watching it while doing that.
Good Job!!! Moose2, you didn't give up. You stuck it out. You solved the crime. I wasn't at all familiar with how you play the games but now I know you're a lot of fun even under pressure, and I can hardly wait till you play the next one. Big fan of Nancy Drew games.
The thing this game lacks most is a bit of exposition. I'm guessing they wanted you to figure things out yourself like a detective, but in the latter games Nancy would vocally announce and explain the links you found. Something like Owen being Dwayne in disguise is a great example, the game assumes you've worked that out by the end, whereas I'd expect Nance to mention it once the clues are put together
I really appreciate such a big archive of videos. This time of year is hard for me. Thicker masks, obligations and socializing. I'm peopled out and I also have insomnia. I just want to sleep!! Hoping this very chill, relaxing and smooth jazz videos will help (you aren't boring just very Bob Ross)

This was the one Nancy Drew game I could never play, I didn't have it as a kid and when I got it as an adult my computer was unable to pay it. Kind of ruined the experience of Ransom of the Seven Ships since it ties heavily to this game. Glad to see it played through.
Someone in stream mentioned your Restaurant Tycoon vids, so I went back and watched the first Restaurant Empire video. I'd been remembering lately that I used to mix you up with Jeff, but couldn't remember how I'd gotten that notion since you both look so different. Seeing this 2012 video, I finally remembered why I used to think that.
I feel like, replaying this game it’s much better than a first-time playthrough. I didn’t remember how obtuse the clues are and how little help you get to connect the clues with their puzzles

It’s in the culprits Desk. You go at night and someone is ordering Chinese food and they let you in thinking you’re the delivery person. And it’s right there.

There’s a very easy to miss reference to the solution hidden in one of the scripts (like it’s on a page that’s flipped over on the left when you pick up a script). Glad future games didn’t make the solutions so impossible to find
@@taryn8452 Gotcha. Yeah, it seems like they had difficulty making relevant stuff stand out. That combined with the puzzles that don’t always result in progression makes for a frustrating experience, I imagine. But that’s how they learned and improved, I guess. Thanks for the info!
When you see the ND magnifying glass turn red that does mean to take a closer look. I am watching you play for the first time. It's great!!! Please slow down on the cursor moves especially when it turns red. I am not giving answers, but you overlooked!!!!
2:50:46, Now you said it yourself, some things are so unassuming you really have to carefully go over everything!!!! When that cursor turns red slow down go over every inch!!!!
Man, all Nancy had to do was arrest Rick at the start of the game. That way, whoever the culprit ends up being (haven't finished the VOD yet) would have to be arrested to get to Rick, and at that point, the case solved itself.
I like this one, but it's definitively unintuitive and not as player-friendly as the later games. I got stuck more than once because I didn't click the right pixel in any given screen. I mean the chair that all the packages are put on is barely even *on* screen. But Message in a Haunted Mansion coming up next is great! One of my top 3 ND games.

Literally. I love Ian's streams but his refusal to take hints from chat is baffling to me. Surely that's the point of playing an adventure game in front of an audience? So they can help you when it takes you an hour to make progress?
@@dominateeye I get where you are coming from but having some one give you the answers kinda takes the wonder away from solving it yourself. Especially when the definition of hint varies from person to person. I’d say the point of playing in front of the audience is that we can all experience the mystery together without being “spoiled” by hints.

I think the voice actor for Powers is the same as the killer in The Final Scene. I suspected Powers because of that.
