Can you turn on the captions when you post to RUclips? That way hopefully the computerized subtitling can try and grab the audio. I'd love to understand what you said here but it's just not possible unless you turn on the captioning. It's nowhere near as nice as someone doing the captioning but compared to no access, it's certainly better. Thanks ahead of time.
The titular “Ghost Dogs” show up once in a dramatic and spectacular opening. You then spend the rest of the game doing errands, doing research, talking to people, looking for birds, and discovering hidden rooms and tunnels. All without any apparent threat of dogs apart from when you occasionally hear them howling at night. Disappointing...but still such a wonderful adventure.
at least it was at the beginning of the stream where it gave people time to get in its when people constantly stop playing to do it where it would start to get on my nerves
I came to this all girl prodigy school to look for rare worms! Also, love the idea that the bird dude annoys Nancy so much she finally resorts to murder to get what she needs lol.
Thank you for continuing to upload these high quality streams, those people who comment about this calming their anxiety are very relatable to me. Your content is one of the few things that cheers me up these days I really appreciate it 🦁
This is definitely a series that needs more love. My favorites include The Haunted Carousel, Danger by Design, Phantom of Venice, and Secret of Shadow Ranch.
So happy you are streaming more!! Just started a code camp already did 6 hours of studying tonight and glad I can change up the background noise from “Celtic music/forest music” to your vods :)
Whoa! Ian, if you're gonna wear such a scary costume, please put up a warning next time. P.S. I'm sad about Ripper, but excited for Nance! :D EDIT: My little dogs started yapping at something right when you said "I wish those dogs would shut up." Me too, Ian. Me too
You know... I have a habit of going to sleep to Ian's streams. I've never watched this one. I'm about 5 minutes in and I'm pretty sure I'll have nightmares tonight. Thanks, Ian. Always keeping me on my toes
Oof! That game looked rough! I definitely wouldn't have had the patience to keep going on that. Kudos to you for sitting through it while hundreds of people watch you. You always know how to keep your cool, even when you're losing it.
Haven't watched a brutalstream since shenmue and city folk, but if Ians playing Nancy you know it's time to get cozy. I'll be spending the next week catching back up.
I really love the music in this game. Nancy Drew always seems to have good music, even if it repeats. *Three hours later* Hmm..you know I may have to retract my statement LOL! OMG that bug hunt was brutal. It seemed more like a game of chance than an actual puzzle. That shouldn't have been as tedious as it was. I wasn't disappointed watching the VOD. I was just, shall we say "quite surprised" at how hard it was to find bugs under rocks and birds on trees. I will say in watching the VODs in terms of dropped frames, I don't notice any drop in quality at all. Also, I love your cat onesie :)
In regards to the challenge of “no hints”: I think the thing that leads to hints most often is chat responding to Ian’s rhetorical questions. He’ll say something like “what am I supposed to do?” and chat will interpret that as “help me, I’m stuck.” These comments are rhetorical, though. Maybe making that clear up front would help? I could see someone misunderstanding whether that constitutes a hint (since it sounds like a request for help). Another option would be to include a visual version of the “sleuth mode” he had before. Maybe some small asset that could be toggled using a stream deck that just said something like “Genius at work! No hints, back seating, or advice, please!” He could turn it on while he was trying to figure things out and it might be less extreme than the total removal of chat. One last suggestion could be the creation of a “No Hints” emote. It could be designed to be easily noticeable at a glance and mods could use it to signal to Ian that a hint was dropped. Then he’d know to look away for a bit.
I told my brother yesterday that I was hoping for another of your Nancy Drew playthroughs. Thanks for playing this one. I had a problem with that maze and gave up, like 5 times.
The real laughter came when I saw the exchange you had over red knot and the pictures with the camera for a spark plug! The expression on your face and your one-liner of the conversation going south had me curled up in laughter. I did get stumped but your other comment priceless!!!!
I'm a ND veteran. I think this VOD channel is fan based but hopefully I can translate to Ian that the best ND game are as follows: Secret of the Old Clock, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, The Haunted Carousel, Shadow at the Waters Edge, Danger on Deception Island, The Secret of Shadow Ranch (besides the stupid fucking vegetable puzzle and the bug that can let you soft lock yourself out of day 2), Secret of the Scarlet Hand, and my personal favorite: The Phantom of Venice. He already played the best rated ones, Waverly and Labrnyth. But they are no where near the ones that made the series enjoyable and close to the communities hearts.
Moose, for your sanity, please play ND: Shadow at the water's edge, Ghost of Thornton hall, or the one about the Tesla coil lab. They are infinitely better than the ones people keep suggesting to you XD
Thank you SO much for playing this Ian! I'm new to this channel, and I actually got a twitch account just because I LOVE Nancy Drew, I've played all of them more than once (yes I know some of them are trash but its my childhood dont judge), and I LOVE you as a streamer Ian! I love your whole vibe and I am so happy to finally find a mix of someone I like playing lowkey my favourite games! I'm sorry this wasn't your favourite, it isn't one of the best, but PLEASE play more in the future?? Thanks for giving me a great new channel man! Sorry I'm so late 😂
Oh my god, do I postpone finishing the Shenmue II vods for Nance!? Anyway, I really enjoyed the Texas treats vid yesterday, Ian! Watching you use that Kitchenaid was an adventure.
I love how Ian says, "She did it," about Nancy's friend right away. And then, "He did it,' about the first character he meets. And then he says, "Maybe Nancy did it," all of these accusations before theres any evidence that anything has been "done" in the first place lol
Next time you decide to play another Nancy Drew game, I hope you can play Nancy Drew Warnings at Waverly Academy. It’s my favorite and I really think you’ll enjoy it!
Not me rewatching this 3 years later and thinking the same comment to myself at the 2:26:07 mark XD. I forgot I was able to watch a bit of this stream live.
I will be honest. It's driving me crazy that you aren't looking at the rocks inside the grave yard where the tombs are. There are rocks in there, and you will find bug chirping over there too.
Ahahahaha, "stumped"! :D And I don't think I could eat a cockroach for any amount of money, because I'd probably just barf it back up, thus negating the transaction for being unable to uphold my end of the bargain.
I’ve never watched the full bug hunt on this vod, but I just downloaded this game and the bug hunt took less than 20 minutes for me lol I guess I got lucky
I don't recommend Spectrum either but it's the only one that services my apartments, so I am stuck with them and their constantly-rising prices without warning. :(
Not to mention their internet that doesnt work sometimes or on certain devices... my switch gets terrible connection problems, sometimes it cant even recognize a signal.
And also, I've found that when I don't look in the grave yard where the rocks are at, it takes a longer time,It could also be because you are in senior mode and senior mode SUCKS when you are doing the first game play on this one or others. That's alsowhy i use to cheat on some nancy drew games when it came to stupid ones like the bug ones.
I played Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake as an adult and it's nowhere near the best of the Nancy Drew games. I think people are just nostalgic because they were scared of the dogs when they were kids. That being said I love these playthroughs!
Another hilarious coincidence is that a chatter commented on there being no games made about the Hardy Boys, yet Her Interactive, which develops the Nance games, made one in 2009 for the DS.
Having plsyed nd for YEARS. Junior is easier puzzles with hints and your tasklist Senior is no hints or help. You'll have your journal but everything is made much harder and the puzzles give you extra work. You should look at arglefumph on RUclips for Nancy drew stuff!
Its supposed to be a comment on Emily's intelligence. The writers did it purposefully. This was a comment from the developers from a forum post on the HER Interactive site from like 10+ years ago so you can take it with a grain of salt.
Sucks that spectrum ain't working good for ya. I use them and they're great, maybe it's an area thing. Nonetheless, hope the internet situation is all good now

I have no idea why, but this has become one of my comfort series to watch when I'm stressed. Maybe it's the bug hunt LOL

I mean it works be boring if you had to hide in the house 24/7 because of dogs
I don't understand why people keep complaining about the thanks at the beginning. He is very polite in thanking EVERYBODY and I personally love that!
at least it was at the beginning of the stream where it gave people time to get in its when people constantly stop playing to do it where it would start to get on my nerves
Ian an hour in: I like the music
Ian the rest of the stream: I wanna die
I'm never able to catch your streams, thank you for being one of the few streamers who uploads to RUclips
I absolutely adore the intro ads :)
Yes, it's very nice to watch those. They're just as relaxing as the streams themselves. :)
Ian's aesthetic choices for editing, intros, etc always make me so happy.
YES
There's a disturbing lack of ghost dogs in this game
I came to this all girl prodigy school to look for rare worms!

The carp man! How did I miss this!?
Pro tip: if you get lost in the woods just go north west south west
Will you play a Nancy Drew game this Halloween? Please play Message in a Haunted Mansion or Treasure in the Royal Tower!
How did she send that letter if she's trapped?
The bug hunt rage… never play creature of kapu cave, you will NOT like Nancy’s job (especially compared to the Hardy brother’s job)
If you do another Nancy drew game I'd recommend ghost of Thornton hall. Less bug hunting more coffin searching lol
the game literally gives you the meanings of the roman numerals if you pay attention
Vods are great~!
Ian, you're so cute in your kitty outfit!
Rewatching this made me wonder what bothered Ian the most: the bugs, the barking dogs, or the daytime music.

Nice kigurumi, moose man.
I wonder if this is the saltiest Ian has ever gotten toward a game on stream?
The forest music sounds like it's from Runescape.
