  • How to build an DIY en-suite bathroom in a converted stable! In this week's episode we document the first few steps of creating an incredible guest bathroom in our converted stable accommodation. This used to be the corner of the stable where the cows and donkeys were kept - we think this is turning into a dream transformation! What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

    Our Story:
    We sold our apartment in Stockholm, packed up the car and headed for Piemonte. After a couple of months searching for the right house we came across Our Italian Dream House and immediately made an offer. Four weeks later (just three days before Christmas) we signed the contract and had the keys.
    It's now early 2022 and we have begun work on the epic renovation that stands before us. We are mortgage free and have a very limited budget so plan to take on as much of the renovation ourselves as possible - follow us on our journey as we turn an abandoned Italian farmhouse into our dream home.

    I love the shower tile! The reflection of light from the tiles makes them shimmer and seem brighter.

    A slighty dry mix under your shower tray may work a little better next time...... when its wet its slightly harder to work.....good job though love it.

      On the smaller tiles to bring your level in use a small level and push the face into the wall will take out uneven tiles i so love the colour. 😉

      Thanks Terry, yeah I agree, I think a dry mix would have been easier

    Guys how come you didn’t do any water proofing? This is going to cause you enormous problems in the future! Love your content btw!

    • @OurItalianDreamHouse
      @OurItalianDreamHouse  Месяц назад

      This is standard building practice in Italy. In Sweden we also use water proofing but here you use shower trays and tile straight on the plaster. Hopefully not all 26 million italian household will have enormous problems in the future 😉
      Thanks! We have plenty more to come over the next couple of weeks. It’s been busy 😅

    Is there no kind of moisture barrier between the concrete block and the tile? Will that be okay in terms of drying so there's no mold growth and the like? The tiles are so beautiful, I'd hate for the hard work to be ruined!

  • @NosumHseebnrido
    @NosumHseebnrido Месяц назад

    There is a charm in imperfection of tiling, so don't bother it's not perfect it's supposed to be like that.

    • @OurItalianDreamHouse
      @OurItalianDreamHouse  Месяц назад

      Thank you!! And we actually agree with you. Considering it’s an old house from the 1920’s where Nothing is straight, it would almost look strange if the new tiles were perfect 😅
