That is (again) an awesome area to bike! That region I've travelled (by car unfortunately) in 2006? In La California (Cecina Di Bibbona) was our Camping, Volterra and San Gimignano were two favourite villages to pass through. The desolation and erosion in the landscape around Volterra was very special as were the towers in San Gimignano! I would have loved to have biked there, but with a certain weight challenge 🙂
Don’t know about you, but my bucket list is getting very long 😂 too much beautiful stuff in the world. But if you get the chance, definitely do the TT. It’s amazing.

@@MaartenOverweg I have finsihed building my new gravel bike and have taken it for some shorter gravel rides, but sadly not enough. I've had a busy spring maintaing my family's summer house and boats ( we have to many of them!) in addition to quite a heavy workload. I will start my summer holiday in 1 1/2 weeks together wit my children and will hopefully get some rides, but my plan is to do some bikepacking gravel ride later in July and theres should also be a couple of videaos

I read on the TT facebook page that the local bike shop close to the starting location, offered to store bike cases for...can't remember...I'll try to find that post and try and share it with you. Can you take any train north from Orbetello with your bikes or are you only allowed to travel on certain trains? Did you have to change at Grosseto? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi Lee, I believe you’re only allowed to take the regional trains with your bike. But we hopped on another one and the conductor didn’t say anything 😅🙈
Hi Fries, poeh tips…zijn er specifiek dingen die je je afvraagt? Hier wat algemene: eigen tempo rijden, blijven eten en drinken en op tijd rust pakken. Als het weer zo warm wordt als vorig jaar, kan het zeker een pittige tocht zijn. Zorg dat je materiaal in orde is en alles goed vast blijft zitten onderweg. En belangrijkste: blijven genieten van elke seconde. Het is een schitterend avontuur.

@@friesbourgeois Goeie vraag en heb ik ook geen goed antwoord op. In de wat grotere plaatsen (Volterra, Siena) zal het nog wel gaan, maar verderop in de route voorbij Siena kan het nog wel eens lastig worden. Vorig jaar hebben we in Pienza gezocht en zat alles vol. Toen maar wild gekampeerd.
