@@MaartenOverweg​​⁠het was meer dat ik dit als hoofddoel had om een keer te proberen. Ja het is gaaf maar er gaat wel heel veel tijd in zitten om je goed voor te bereiden. Die tijd kan/wil ik er met een jong gezin nu niet nog eens in gaan steken. Wellicht over een aantal jaren als de kinderen wat groter zijn dat ik er weer gericht voor ga trainen. Moet ook eerlijk zeggen dat ik even moest bijkomen na dit evenement en de rest van de maanden daarna van dit jaar niet heel veel meer heb gefietst omdat ik ook wel even klaar was met het moeten trainen voor je doel

@ no problem. With what I know now I think I should have bought the 2 person version. I love this tent, but for easy cruising bikepacking adventures a bit more space would have been nice.

Thanks! Oeh...goeie vraag. Ik denk langste dagtocht was de Limburg Divide route (220km, videotje staat op mijn kanaal). Langste meerdaagse was Veneto Gravel in Italie (400km). De training zelf was een half jaar lang heel veel km's maken met lage hartslag 😅

Thanks voor de info !! Target voor 2026 de 200mijl, veel km maken op lage hartslag had ik ook al in gedachten om de lange tochten te maken. Nog maar een paar maandjes bezig met fietsen.....maar de gravel is toch wel het gaafste !! Heerlijk zo km malen door de velden en dreven. 👊

Maar ik had deze toertocht vorig jaar ook gedaan en er een filmpje van gemaakt. Die werd gezien door de club en zo ben ik in contact gekomen met Wim, de gravel routebouwer van TC Woensel. Wat dat betreft is social media toch wel heel leuk. Rij jij meestal gravel? Heb je nog mooie routes om te delen? Ik ben altijd op zoek naar leuke stukken om te fietsen, maar heb het geduld niet om zelf routes te bouwen 😅

@ hahah Maarten volgens mij heb jij alle gravelroutes inmiddels al wel gereden😅 ik weet nog wel een verrassend mooie route. Ik heb twee weken geleden de Act2 gereden. Ik had die van bikepacking,com en ook het gpx bestand. Ik heb er op mijn kanaal nog 2 shorts van. Ik heb de eerste dag het gedeelte in Nederland gedaan en de tweede dag in België. Mooie route door de natuur. Ik rijd eigenlijk vanalles. Gravel, mtbpaden, vakantiefietsroutes asfalt enz..Meestal gewoon rustige snelheid Maar jij gaat ook een hele mooi route doen in Portugal. In hoeveel dagen verwacht je het te fietsen?💪🏼

@@ridinsolo3352 Oooh, ACT2 wil ik ook nog eens doen. Ik heb een paar weken terug een event gedaan van de mannen van ACT2, ze maken mooie dingen. Maar na dat event sta ik nu wel met beide voeten op de grond. Geen idee hoeveel dagen dus ik nodig ga hebben in Portugal. Je weet nooit wat de omstandigheden gaan zijn.

What plan is that? Using an app? And what's the goal you set?

@MaartenOverweg First step is a FTP builder for 8 weeks. After that more strength training and endurance work. Not an app just what I know I need to do. The ride is the South Downs Way double.

Depends on what your reference is and where in Belgium you're at. Towards the coast is usually flat, going more inland you'll meet short and steep climbs. Like the climbs famous from the Tour of Flanders or the bergs in the Belgian Ardennes. It's not Alpe d'Huez or Mount Everest of course, but biting short climbs often over 10%. You definitely feel it at the end of the day 😅

@@steveindorset Would be interesting to get some data on that. I think road is still the biggest, but gravel is definitely growing. I'm from The Netherlands, but think the Belgians were also a bit earlier with the whole gravel thing. They have more gravel events, which is only this year exploded in the Netherlandse. Since this year you can go to multiple gravel events each weekend 😅 Have a great weekend, mate!

That's funny, I was actually looking at the gravel ride you just posted to Strava and was thinking what a foreign concept it is that you have such long, straight roads to ride 😅I'm so used to living close to country borders I don't really think about it. With a bit of effort I could probably do 4 or maybe even 5 countries in 1 weekend by bike. I hope you get to do that overnighter trip, nothing beats a weekend on the bike 🥳 have a great day, mate!

Hi mate! How're you doing? Yeah, this was such a blast, I was smiling all weekend. and yes, those Adidas shoes are actual cycling shoes. Was a bit of an inside joke to film him putting them on. He forgot his shoes earlier this year when we were supposed to do a 220km ride together 😂

Hi Mario! Yes, that area is amazing. It's all very close to the NL-DE border, you constantly ride in and out of The Netherlands into Germany and back. The route should be on my Komoot. The area is roughly between Mönchengladbach and Roermond. The NL nature park is called Meinweg, I don't know what the name of the German area is. And some of my most fun bikepacking adventures are short and sweet. Last year I did an overnighter where we camped 25km from my house and rode a loop back home of 65km the next day. That was one of the most fun things to do. Just being out in nature, ride your bike, have a laugh with friends, have a good meal and a couple beers. Man, that was such a great weekend.

About the rig: I did not weigh it because I really don't want to know. But yes, it was too heavy and for this type of event I will need to go with the absolute bear minimum. Lesson learned there!

⁠soldiering on, sort of vicariously out on the trails with you. Sprained ankle that won’t mend is a nuisance. But all I’m really should only be focused on where next.
