My mother is 92 years old and grew up in North Dakota. I love her story that when she was a little girl, she begged her mother to be able to wear mittens without the strings. She wanted to feel grown-up. So the first day she wore the mittens without the strings, she dropped them down the outhouse hole, whoops!! 😅
Silly as they looked the strings did save a lot of mittens being lost or worse still dropped down that hole 😀
Hi Jan! Love your outfit today! The intricate design in your top is beautiful!!! When we were kids, we took a trip down to Louisiana to visit relatives. On our way back we stopped at the mammoth caves in Kentucky. I remember being so excited at the thought of going down into the caves! Well, we walked around outside and over the top of the caves…in the sweltering heat!!! I thought the whole time we would happen upon an entry into the caves…nope! They actually had organized tours that took you through the caves…which we simply didn’t have time to do. Years later, I finally had the opportunity to go down into the caves with a friend.😊 Making three mittens, how smart!!! Looking forward to seeing the boho top you’re going to make!!!💜
We have some caves in the UK called the Blue John Mines. I went as a child on a school trip to admire the stalactites and stalagmites. As I was too young to appreciate the dark and wet we went back again when I was in my 20's. Lovely to look at but a bit scary when the guide turned off the lights to show us the conditions that the miners worked in.

I guess we ladies of a certain generation remember very similar things. Whatever the reasons our parents thought, at the time, that it was the best thing for us.

Oh Gosh. Those navy blue knickers. Indestructible. Mine were large enough to last all of my school years. My Mum believed in buying things large enough to last !

Good idea Esin. I do hashtags in my own way but I don't think that I do them right. I need to try harder.
I also am very allergic to animal hair, even cat & dog. I can't work with yarn or cloth that contains wool, alpaca, angora, sherpa, fox, or any other animal fibers. I cannot even hug someone's neck that is wearing wool or others, instant hives. I cannot wear mink or any other type of animal skins. I even itch to death when I ride a horse.
That being said, I love animals and I have had allergies my whole life because I refuse to give up my cat or dog (I never keep more than one at a time). Haha. I'm hardheaded.

Thank you Susan. I am knitting a cardigan. I will show it once it is all finished and stitched together. I wasn't a lover of my liberty bodice but I guess that it kept me warm in the winter.

I could probably make a Taylor Swift dress if I had an order for one. I am not making one just for the sake of it as I am too old to wear it and I doubt that anyone young would see it on my channel and want to buy it.
