The ESD thing he was talking about means Electro Static Discharge. Our body is fully capable of storing and passing electrical energy. So, before touching any internal electrocal component, our body must be electrically neutral (hence the metal ball below every chair, for making earthing connection). If body is charged and we toich any internal component, the component may not work... pretty simple concept.
What I understood and as per my understanding ESD protection is basically to prevent the static electricity discharge from the body. 6:08 this packet prevents the conduction of electric currents. In the electronics even the small electric currents are enough to damage the components and thus leading to failure of motherboard.

My nothing phone 1 get black screen within 7 months and, when I have visited the service centre I get screen replacement, but still they say there is motherboard problem we need to order it, I asked for direct replacement in warranty, but got declined, and my 7 months all data, photos, Videos will be lost they say 😢, now no replacement and no data. Atleast they can try for replacement but no 🤯😬😬 If mobile is open ones in service centre and got 2 to 3 prepares, all fun is gone., now I am thinking , my choice was currect to purchase nothing phone 1 by giving 32k or not ? 😵😵😢

Let me tell you this I own nothing phone 2 and there was this issue regarding my phone power button being mushy and not making clicky sound so I went to lajpat nagar nothing phone exclusive service centre and they solved my problem in 20 mins the engg was wearing ppe kit and he came out with my phone I was surprised at the level of care they were taking I was the only one at their sevice center , they let me spin a wheel and I got rewarded with a cable type c to c
The experience was pretty amazing
