- So what was “Grunge”? At the start, it was a joke. Then it became a simple description of a sound/attitude, as well as a Sub Pop hype promotional term. Ultimately, it became a quasi-genre of music based simply on bands’ Seattle origins. But whatever the meaning is, it’s clear that the term “grunge” has permanently linked those 80s and 90s northwest musicians in music history.

I am in 100% agreement with John. In Utero is an authentic masterpiece that does something to my soul...
Same here. But Nevermind is important like MJ Thriller album in my opinion
For sure. Its what gave them their absolute mainstream fame.@@seigfredancay4963
Same here.
I feel like its become a trope to put down Nevermind in order to be a "real" fan. Nevermind rocks harder from start to finish than any album in history. They make those 80s hair metal rockers sound like boy scouts. Nevermind is all killer, no filler
its just edgelords who want to sound cool. Nevermind is better than all of nirvanas other work combined. Its so good its better then pretty much 90% of most bands entire catalogues. Nevermind has like 4 mega hits when most albums have 1 at best.
I kinda want to see John’s entire collection of everything he collects
Right?!
I’m so glad I can just enjoy Music without being ideological.
Yeah, the same thing was with him not listening to OHM because of ideological reasons, and that album has a tone of amazing psychedelic funk metal songs that I’m sure he would enjoy if he just gave it a chance. With that being said I agree that In Utero feels more real and is overally better than Nevermind, although still appreciate the latter for its impact.

@@mrcards169 "One Hot Minute" the 1995 Chilis album with Dave Navarro. John was in a rough space during that time.
I love these old interviews
Nothing about gender, race, sexual preference etc all the woke garbage today
Frusciante rules. Love this and totally agree with him.
interesting...
I am so glad that this man right here is alive and doing well
I always wondered what Kurt would have thought of Niandra Lades and usually just a t shirt .
honestly he probably would’ve loved it
John in 94: "not particularly a fan of Nirvanas music, it's terrible" lol
Considering Kurt and especially Krist hated funk they probably thought chilli peppers sucked. Although they probably didn't hate each other they disliked their works. I don't think Chilli Peppers suck entirely but they are extremely overrated and Frusciante is an overrated guitarist.
@@bigdawg6308 see I like them much more now than I did back then. I was a bit of a fan back then but appreciate them much more now musically. I've never cared much for "amazing technical guitarists" I couldn't care less, and ice always found john to be pretty arrogant. This all being said I like the chili peppers more than Nirvana 🤷♀️ just personal preference. Back then I was a lot about attitude and I think Nirvana respected their attitudes
The it's terrible was about kurt's death not the music
Proof of where John said this?
@@Amuseddaysleeper find it yourself it's in his 1994 vpro interview
Corrections: Nirvana played Rajis on February 15, 1990. This was the bands 2nd time in LA. The picture from the concert was in the Sliver 7inch, 12inch and CD released 1990.
John is very cool. Iconic typa man now heh? John good, love his singing too, he gives so much spice to the RHCP, him it. Iconic how him wasn't there you know whatamean at the induction, ....John must be the most talked of it as it relates to the inductions of any big name be it Paul or Paigie, while not actually being there...some story...some magic man, John he is
Funny when he was all junked out in mid 90s he said they were awful. Then again his mental state at that time was s little off.
I saw the photo of him at Raji’s. Scott Weiland was also there in the audience.
I don't understand why some people dislike Nevermind because the production is too slick or it's too commercial? To me it is a great album, but I also like In Utero and Bleach.
he made rhcp pop though hahahah.....madness. If he was in Primus I could see because they never sold out! PRIMUS SUCKS
He is lying. There is an old interview when he was younger telling that he thinks their music was awfull.
he was talking about the suicide, saying the suicide was awful, not the music. he covered nirvana’s music in his live shows.
So John (one of the greatest guitarists in rock history)says he loves Kurt’s guitar playing. It’s “ like an explosion”, which i agree with. But every hater out there , nobody guitarists and the general music public, all tell me that Kurt fucking sucks and it’s “basic”. Who to believe ?
“Punk for the masses” because red hot chili peppers were so underground and never released a single commercial hit. Nevermind pisses all over blood sugar sex magic.
