- Homemade whipped tallow balm 🌿
This video makes the process look super smooth, but making this for the first time included quite the learning curve! Here’s how I did it:
1. Source grass-fed, grass finished beef fat trimmings
2. Cube the fat, removing any other tissue or membrane, place in a crock pot with about a liter of water
3. Set on low for about 12 hours or until most of the solids remaining are settled toward the bottom
4. Strain with cheesecloth, set in refrigerator to cool
5. Scrape off any grime on the bottom of the tallow cake once cooled
6. Cut up tallow, add to crock pot with more water
7. Set to low for just a few hours, strain and cool
8. Go through the purification process until there is nothing left but the beautiful white rendered tallow!
9. Slightly melt the tallow with any other oils you like (my favorite is avocado and castor oil), along with your favorite essential oils and you’re done!
The full process is covered more in-depth in the full length video :)
Most definitely doing this again ✨
Tallow moisturiser is a miracle. Its cleared up alot of my skin problems and my skin has never looked so good! You can use it from top to toe!
That's amazing to hear!
Hi , so it can be use day and night???😮😮
@@user-bt1yc2zb4p The stuff I make is too heavy for under makeup. The thing is, the more I've used it the less I have to use it. Do you know what I mean? It is so good I don't have to use it every day, now. Eg: My cracked heals are completely healed so now I only use it on my feet once or twice a week.
I think what you’re doing and sharing is amazing! Thank you for including us in your journey.
You are so welcome!
I read a few negatives here. Don't listen my little lady. How do they think the indigenous peoples took care of themselves? Can you imagine walking all day and no way to sooth your feet? You go girl! You're doing great. I'm so happy I'm here for this.
I knew a lady, her husbands mom owned a beef farm. She mad lipbalm out of tallow. My lips were very bad chapped one winter. I used it once and I was shocked how well it worked.
❤ 👍
Oh that sounds nice too!
I put lard all over. Feels fantastic, great for cold weather, unlike coconut oil.
Impressive Linnea, I’m 51 and you continue to teach me so many new things. Thank you!!
Right?!?! Always!
You are so very smart and creative. Thanks for sharing with all of us
Thank you!
I kind of pride myself of being somewhat knowledgeable about different things but I swear I have never heard of tallow ! I can't wait to try it ! ❤
Tallow is amazing! Once I tried tallow balm for the first time that was it, now all of my soaps, lip balms, candles and even dish soap are made with tallow.
That's amazing!
Where do you get it ?
I bet mixing this with raw honey is such a nourishing combo. Will have to try it myself!
I've been using beef tallow as moisturiser for a few years. It's brilliant!
I think thats so cool! Im gonna be you one day!! ❤
You can smear rendered animal fat on your face whenever you want!!! No need to wait!
Ooooohhhh! Market it please! I don’t have the space to make my own. That looks AMAZING.
You don't have the space? She literally lives in a van 😂
@@KayJoyy I literally live in an SUV midsize. Lol with two dogs. 😂😂😂🤓♥️ and I don’t have a permanent place to park. I have to move every day. She now has 40 Acres and a 40 foot storage container and it’s some thing that she might enjoy and profit from all while sharing a delightful hand crafted product with us.
@@1GoodmorningSurvivors so then you should understand 😭😂💀
@@KayJoyy I do. You may not. And that’s okay. 🌺
@@1GoodmorningSurvivors I lived out of my Nissan sentra for 2 years with a cat and a dog.
Amazing!! Maybe someday I’ll give it a try! ❤
I'm a huge fan of castor oil so I bet mixing it with your tallow is fantastic.
Would you consider selling it? I’d buy some
Maybe someday!
Pretty sure that's illegal lol
@@439801RStallow products are readily available for purchase. i’m wondering why you think it would be illegal…?
@@439801RS are you okay? 😂
@@Linneaandakela I’ll be buying it up if and or when you do that! 🌺🌺♥️
Indigenous people in Russia, where it’s very cold outside, use bear fat to protect their skin when they go outside during the winter/extreme cold weather.
I recently started using beef tallow for cooking, (instead of nasty unhealthy seed oils), as well as using tallow based skin care products but like you mentioned they are extremely expensive.
Your video has inspired me to want to make my own and whilst this short is very informative, a step by step guide in the style of a cooking recipe or a longer form video would be incredibly helpful.
I’m sure that I wouldn’t be the only person that would be grateful if you could make this!
Your video only just appeared in my YT shorts feed and I instantly love your content so I have subscribed to your channel.
It looks like you’re living the dream! All the best to you and I look forward to watching more of your content.
Rendering Taloe and Lard is actually very easy. Time consuming but very rewarding. Make as much as you can so you don't need to keep doing it. It's amazing for lubricating farm machines, to cooking plus just great and cheap. Also freezable. Make sure You're getting the correct fat though. It needs to come from certain parts of the body.
I second this^ I would love to learn how to do this !
Yes I just now watched her short and I also subscribed ❤she is so amazing to watch and learn from😊🌞✨🌼🌿
How do you find these natural farms to get your meat ect on the road I’ll be hitting the road in my rv in the fall and would love to have ways to access this!!
Make's sense 😊
Does it smell? Regular beef tallow has a smell and I was wondering if it was similar.
I also made some recently, no way I’m paying 30 bucks for a few ounces when I can have fun making my own. Thanks for sharing!
How’s the smell? I’m curious. Because I’ve always felt gross about raw meat and just to think I’m using animal fat on my skin makes me feel uncomfortable. I only use jojoba oil, nothing else, but I’ve recently seen a lot of tallow vids and I just want more info.
Wow
Interesting ❤
❤
Do you sell it?
I don't. But may in the future, once I start selling my pottery as well!
Does it smell?
Just like the oils I added.
I just can't digest that fact that this moisturizer costs a life or maybe i am too attached to my cow thats why i hate the idea to make moisturizer 🧴 from cow fat
I think if animals are being slaughtered, using all of the by products is better than not. Her dog just ate beef.
I’m a vegetarian, so I totally understand this! But for a meat eater, it’s no different than eating meat or purchasing leather products.
Huh… I’ve never heard of this but interesting.
Youre putting dead animal fat on your face tho. Like thats literally what this is, plus some smell good stuff.
You'd be shocked where a lot of ingredients come from 💀 just because something is processed and packaged before it gets to you, doesn't mean it's not what it is
Genuine question 😊 Do you skincare products? I’m a retired licensed Esthetician and I’ll tell ya all those great ingredients in that skincare comes from places! Some places are animals! Squalene, a wonderful ingredient (and a natural component of sebum) is sourced from animals & plants! Sharks, shark liver oil to be specific! Keratin is extracted from the nails, feathers, horns hair and hooves of animals!
Collagen, Elastin, Glycerin, Glucosamine Hyaluronic acid, Lanolin, Panthenol are some more very common and very good ingredients in skincare and they’re all from animals!
Thankfully we mostly eat the animals they come from. And I feel pretty good that as much of the animal as absolutely possible is getting used! It’d be far worse to just take the meat and let the rest rot!
I hope Linnea eventually does sell it! I’d feel fantastic as an Esthetician recommending it because I’d know it was pure and good! And yeah I get the creepy factor but I get that for eating meatloaf if I overthink it! My Son in law hunts and I could never! I am quite happy pretending meat comes from the grocery store lol I don’t want to ever see the face of something I ate. I understand the importance of hunting, population control, etc. And I don’t give him grief for hunting. They eat the meat and give the rest away to be used.
But I am curious if you use skincare, what do you use? I’ll happily go over the ingredients and tell you which ones are sourced from animals 😊
Is it vegan?
No, it's made from beef tallow (cow fat).
Don't mind me, throwing myself off a building 🤦♂️
"BEEF" tallow. Beef.
Hahahahaha good one 😂
As vegan as McDonald's is.
Imagine rubbing parts of dead animals all over your face...
Ewww i appreciate your ingenuity but it's just a no no for me due to my fear of oil touching me. Hey people of the world is it only me that fear oil so much. I mean one drop of oil can't touch my clothes or my skin and you knwo what make people think that i am only overreacting its because i can completely eat anything that is being fry with oil provided that i do not touch the oily food with my hand but by using spionvto directly throw it in my mouth. is there anyone out there with this problem? I am a guy so i havve to pretend that it didn't bother me but the thoughts of oil sprinkling in me is ewww.
