After watching the video I tried to think of some devices like this, and I came up with one that might actually be feasible: a spring-loaded device on the tail of the board that releases when you pop
I'm pretty sure none of these will be accepted by the skaters. Skaters didn't accept longboards, even though longboards ARE skateboards, just with a slightly different design (but everything else is the same). Any modification will be hated so much!
The answer's different for everyone but for me, it would be anything that takes away from the ability to do "normal tricks" There used to be something in toy stores called a carver board or something like that that had like eight wheels on each truck. Now you can't do grinds so I don't think that's a skateboard anymore. I can't think of anything electric powered that would hold up to impacts of normal tricks so I'd say anything powered is out. I've seen hooks screwed onto the top of the board to hook your feet under so that you can jump and the board stays with you but then you can't really do flip tricks so that's out. There's been lots of inventions that modified the skateboard that didn't make it no longer a skateboard. Zrollers count even though some people said it was cheating. Tensor used to have the little plastic insert on the baseplate. Weird wheel shapes/light up wheels. Rubber/non abrasive griptape. There were those suspension trucks a few years ago I never rode them myself but I don't think they modified the board too much to take away any tricks.
"cheating" in skateboarding is so massively arbitrary that i don't think it even matters or is at all useful to think about skateboarding in that way. it it "cheating" when matt tomasello or orange man modify their boards with spring loaded bits of wood that slam into the ground and force the board do a kickflip rotation when they jump? nobody that sees clips of these dudes skating weird and heavily modified boards would call it cheating, they'd call it either fun and creative skateboarding or they'd be like "i hate this shit, skateboarding is a very serious sport", but they wouldn't call it "cheating".
We've been having similar conversions in the Esk8 community; when does an electric skateboard become too off-road mountainboard-focused, when does it become too powerful and more like a race car? (most can easily do 35-43mph now) It's good to see some companies focusing more on short boards with less weight! Just wish they'd put more effort into swappable battery packs...
Innovation is an integral part of skateboarding be it tricks obstacles or the gear itself no such thing as cheating in skateboarding unless your paying off judges in a comp creativity and style go hand and hand so get creative with all aspects expand the possibilities and lets see what's next
What inventions would cross the line for you?

Thanks for answering my question. Keep up the great work, still the best skateboarding channel on RUclips.
In terms of light electric skateboards, look for one that uses a 2ah battery pack, that's much lighter than the standard ones.
Good topic and good video!
See also spring truck baseplates from AEboards, that might help with more pop?
Great topic

One review I saw did say they felt they popped higher with the avenue trucks
Motorized wheels would make you the skater version of Fabian Cancellara.
When it turns into a driveway

Interesting video. How about a Magnetron skateboards, which was around in the early 2000's, and have you ever heard of this company?
When we no longer use our feet then skateboards are no longer skateboard. 😂

When you destroy it.
But then you have skateboard squared
are you excited for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Rad?

It needs a soul. Its hands down the worst sport now.
