I would love to build an ancient fort in Ithilien, maybe to guard the road to Minas Morgul or Harondor ! Thanks for everything mate, amazing work as always !
Setting up all the individual pieces of ruined buildings in the same table just makes it absolutely satisfying. This hard work is not only raisnig up to another level any Arnor campain game but any other wargame yo wanna play. Really nice job!!
Thanks mate! The moment I started laying everything out on the board, all that hard work felt totally worth it. This will definitely get used for my rangers of shadow deep campaign (whenever I get to that)🤣
You should do basing for the trees that matches the terrain bases. The realism of what you built really clashes with the round plastic tree bases, meaning yours is better.
just found your channel, and holy crap i am impressed! Even though i'm not really set up to do hobby-work myself, and havent done so in many years, i love watching out for good stuff that gets me excited enough to get back into the hobby. And these fortifications are genuinely the best i've ever seen. I love the paintjob on those walls especially, extremely realistic, but still pretty to the eye AND attainable for semi-beginners. But its not just the stuff you make which is amazing, also the camera work, editing, sound, and equally entertaining and informative storyline and script - all is of the highest quality really. Instant subscribe from me, thanks for this! Also, I'd love to see you expand on these fortifications. The potential just seems so great, it'd be a 'waste' to end it here. That came from looking at the original FotR 'L' shaped ruin with the gate and wondering what it must have looked like when originally built. I took measurements of it and extrapolated a fort out of hard styrene about the size of a shoebox. Now that I have a hot wire cutter it would certainly be quicker and easier to do it out of foam.

@@microforgeminis Defo worth looking into to see the playability of the pieces and put them through there paces on the table top. Totaly going to try build some myself once i finish this bloody masters 😅
What temperature setting do you set your Proxon too when you cut through the XPS foam? I had mine on just under 2 and the wire kept snapping when I was using the MDF battlement template thing you offer for free? Also, I’m not sure if I’m being a newb with it burn the r template has a front and back marked section, the back is lower than the front (or the other way round, I can’t remember!😂) which means my jig stops at the higher part. So doesn’t create much of a sloped section. Is it meant too?
So the front is intended to be lower than the back so you can angle the stone work between the merlons. In terms of having wire snaps, they will happen eventually but to mininmise them make sure you aren’t pressing the wire too hard up against the mdf. You can drop the temp even lower than 2 (I tend to do 1-1.5) but then you really have to take it slow. Remember when I am showing the technique in my video it is often sped up by 500-800% so that you don’t all fall asleep by the time I’ve cut one piece 🤣
Most of my maps miss some kind of Background Elements. I would use the jig for creating Background walls for many maps I use and stream over discord to my players :D
I think I would use the jig for modular City Walls for my Dungeons and Dragons Game :D love the optic and they would bring a lot of verticality in my games :)
Usually there is a difference in density between the colours. I haven’t used the pink stuff but the yellow is more dense than the blue stuff. Generally speaking foam that is 300kpa/m2 is a good level of density. If the foam is too soft it won’t hold the detail very well
You can laser cut them yourself as the files are free for anyone to use or you can buy a set of the MDF jigs from us directly. Send us an email to microforgeminiatures@gmail.com
Personally, I'd love to see how these could be used to differentiate stylistically between the shattered realms of Arnor, since it *seems* like our clearest picture of "Arnorian" style always seems to be that of Arthedain. What of Cardolan, or Rhudaur, I say!
I say this is a fantastic idea. I have explored this with my Arnor army converting some models to represent a detachment from Cardolan. But I have never explored it with terrain… yet
Hmmm unfortunately I don’t know the local market over there very well. I would reach out to MTG terrain (uk based) they stock slice and slot as well as foam I believe.
Hi I purchased your slice and slot set from myminifactory but cant find the laser cutter files for making the mdf jigs. I have sent you a message through myminifactory but had no response. Could you please help me as trying to make some of this awesome looking terrain for my gaming table, thanks Darren

I just found your channel, this looks amazing. My vote is definitely arnor. Can't wait to catch up on all your videos I haven't seen yet.
Welcome welcome welcome! Thanks very much and a great choice too!
Gondor defo
So curious where you can find the yellow foam in Aus
There is one warehouse in the arse end of Geelong that has a bunch still in stock although sadly I think business has just folded 😭
@@microforgeminis Oh no :( :(
More arnor and fornost terrain. When fornost battle report? Loving these videos going binge watch them all tonight
Battle reports are out of my wheelhouse but maybe I need to talk to conquest creations about getting the terrain on one of his bat reps!
@@microforgeminis Defo worth looking into to see the playability of the pieces and put them through there paces on the table top. Totaly going to try build some myself once i finish this bloody masters 😅
@@Jodneah keep on fighting the good fight with the masters mate. You will get there soon enough and then - FREEDOM!!
I would use the jig for both Gondor and Arnor. I'm in the planning stages of making a Cair Andros table.
Oooooooh Cair Andre’s has always been on my list of locations to build
@@microforgeminis a few nice r2sin pours, 4 bridges and a mahoosive castle. What could go wrong! 😆
@@WrathRuin if RUclips has taught me anything it’s that resin pours are really easy and end in disaster… best of luck 😬
@@microforgeminis 🤣🤣
Thanks so much for the reply and dude, how could anyone fall asleep watching your videos. They are super F cool!
Can you post a pdf printable version of the template?
Ooooo this is a great idea. I will add this on to my to do list!
Most of my maps miss some kind of Background Elements. I would use the jig for creating Background walls for many maps I use and stream over discord to my players :D
Not sure which kingdom probably Gondor. There are plenty of locations in my homebrew world that those jigs would be great for
No need to limit yourself to one setting! These are definitely going to double for when I play some rangers of shadow deep too so go nuts!
Hmm. Gondor or Arnor… I’m going with Arnor! 😊
Very good! A wise choice indeed
Just incredible man. Sooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
lol RUclips asked me if I wanted to translate this comment into English. Your accent isn’t that strong hahaha, glad you liked it mate.
@@microforgeminis xD
I think I would use the jig for modular City Walls for my Dungeons and Dragons Game :D love the optic and they would bring a lot of verticality in my games :)
That’s a great idea! These are definitely going to be the backdrop for a lot of my mini photography
Advice-question: What is the difference between the pink, blue and yellow foams? Also, love your videos.
Usually there is a difference in density between the colours. I haven’t used the pink stuff but the yellow is more dense than the blue stuff. Generally speaking foam that is 300kpa/m2 is a good level of density. If the foam is too soft it won’t hold the detail very well
How do I get those MDF boards?!
You can laser cut them yourself as the files are free for anyone to use or you can buy a set of the MDF jigs from us directly. Send us an email to microforgeminiatures@gmail.com
@@microforgeminis thanks!
@@microforgeminis Well, I can't wait to see what you come up with, should you decide to explore such things further!
I would use it for Gondor, it would be ideal for the walls of Pellanor.
That’s where the inspiration began
nice, where do you recommend buying affordable xps foam in uk/eu region?
Hmmm unfortunately I don’t know the local market over there very well. I would reach out to MTG terrain (uk based) they stock slice and slot as well as foam I believe.
@@microforgeminis thanks
Always enjoy your videos. Great inspiration Your jig would be a great help for a Battle of Arnor table. It is unlikely to be a GW game😢
There never was much hope, only a fools hope…
Why not both ?
Touché my friend touché
I'd use them for Arnor.
Hi I purchased your slice and slot set from myminifactory but cant find the laser cutter files for making the mdf jigs. I have sent you a message through myminifactory but had no response. Could you please help me as trying to make some of this awesome looking terrain for my gaming table, thanks Darren
So sorry Darren I have been rather incognito over the past month or so. The fastest way to get the mdf jigs is by joining our Facebook group where you can download the files there. facebook.com/share/KYJTLbmT7uobgQtV/?mibextid=K35XfP
Just discovered your channel, and Wow you made the techniques look so easy. it would have to be Arnor,
Thanks and welcome! All the techniques just take a bit of practice. Like all things after a while they become easier and easier!
Look great! Thanks for sharing. Ps I'm sub here❤
Thanks for subbing!
For Gondor !!!
FOR GONDOR!!
