Meh…. It is possible to make the mistake at a very quick first glance. Unlikely, but definitely possible. Her bigger problem was that she backed her own ego into a corner where it couldn’t escape. Once it was ramped up and going, it was almost as if she was compelled to make every possible stupid decision. Cops have got to realize that the vast majority of people don’t care that cops might make a mistake. They are just humans too. What I’d argue most people want is to see cops correct their course of action whenever a mistake is realized.
      Edit/add on:
If they correct their mistakes early when they see them, the chances of serious and unjust consequences are far less.

I think, however, if an officer is power tripping to the point where they falsely detain the man in this video, they should be fired too. Giving awards for something that must be normal (being honest) does nothing but fostering and keeping alive a toxic culture where honesty is an "exception". It shouldn't be. Awards are for special, extra-ordinary acts, not things that should be normal, and if we want people to understand that, we should precisely stop treating acts of kindness and honesty as "heroic" and to be awarded...

@@situazionauta I was being hyperbolic to make a point. You've never heard an idiom like, "you get a gold star for that"?
Point is: No, I don't think this officer should literally be given an Honesty Award; That being said, yes, as absurd as it may seem to praise someone for "just doing what they're supposed to do," what she did took a lot of bravery. She knew damn well her coworker was gonna get pissed and she could've just said "fuck it who cares" and walked away and when you see that kind of "idgaf" attitude when these cops play with people's lives I gotta say: Yes. It is very refreshing seeing a police officer do something kind for once. Is that a statement on the sad state of affairs our police are in? Sure. But the lady was still nice.

hell, before body cams a cop could straight up murder or assault someone and as long as nobody influential witnessed it, the most that would happen in most cases is the officer in question gets a paid vacation while the department "investigates" them, and if not just outright reinstated, the most that happens is they resign and six months later are working the exact same job and holding the same rank one town over. I love how gentle they are with their buddies… Advising them not to self-incriminate repeatedly, saying please get out of the car, little tugs on the arm “C’mon you’re resisting an officer” in a speaking voice… new training rule: in all interactions with the public, the cops should treat the public the same way they treat drunk cronies.

Actually, Y’know what? Any act of favouritism gets you reprimanded, extra training, the works
How about we make it that, and the worse the crime they let go, the harsher the consequences

so the officer who was speeding was fired but the officers who unconstitutionally arrested an innocent man were just suspended
      this does not make sense
they too shoud have been fired

You're looking at it the wrong way.
The police will handle each situation differently, using words that have the best chance of a peaceful and simple outcome. Cops commonly say ''please'' in situations where it's a good bet, especially with women.
''new training rule: in all interactions with the public, the cops should treat the public the same way they treat drunk cronies''

cant believe they arrested a blind person for carrying a stick used to help with impairment, both officers should have been fired for abuse of their power especially the supervisor.

I'm very glad to hear that the elderly Gentleman received 650K for the assault from the scumbag Cop!! I'm also thrilled by the actions of the other officers who weren't in any way attempting to protect a bad Cop. It's certainly restored my faith in that not all Cop's are bad. ❤
