Witchhunter is one of the 2 classes I'm deciding on for poe2, it certainly looks rather strong and I'm now definitely leaning towards this ascendancy after the reveal, hopefully we get all ascendancies revealed before launch. Decimating strike is actually stronger than 17.5% more damage because it's calculated differently, as an example if you removed 50% of the target's hp that would be doubling your dmg, not 50% more dmg. It's hard to get the exact average cause it's not a linear formula but it goes from 5.55% more damage at minimum (0.95/0.9 because we can assume you have culling strike) and 46.15% at maximum (0.95/0.65). Average should be around 23.66% more damage multiplier.

I think the Merc will be a super strong class. The Gemling Leigionaire looks to me like you could use it with damn near any build and it will improve it.
@@willkent262maybe so, but the culling strike support can only be used on one skill, so there’s a lot of value in it applying to all of your skills, especially in relation to having 20 additional weapon skill points, 30% cull on magic and normal mobs with 100% life explodes. It will be a nice QOL for mapping to say the least.
@@jlindsay9331 I’m not sure if u have ever used culling strike before but it really doesn’t do anything for map clear u shouldn’t be doing less then 30% life of a magic mobs health in a map so ur doing more damage then the culling strikes damage against them with ur abilities anyway, culling strike has always only been useful against bosses and very tanky rates you really wouldn’t even notice a difference at all in map clear

Culling strike on its own maybe not that great with the changes to how it has diminishing returns on enemies based on rarity, but either way Culling strike + Decimating strike is so much free damage
It's good for multi hit characters that won't need a culling skill and have chance for life % damage in terms of clear I think it's very good but for bossing I do agree it's not as "good". However there is culling threshold on tree, increased effect of passives in radius on jewels.
I'll probably take Culling Strike, Decimating Strike, Witchbane, and Zealous Inquisition for general mapping. Then when Pinnacle Boss comes around, switch Zealous Inquisition for No Mercy.
@@Kyoth3 I have no idea how the weapon swap thing works, so I'm ignoring it for now. Weapon swapping means you will need two good weapons instead of one, and I think that will be a lottle difficult t to set up.
There was 1 node that was shown and it was 25% increased. Cull is 5% against uniques in poe2 The node gives you 6.25% cull… 1.25% conditional damage is not worth the points on the tree
@@Fubgun 6% cull is still 7% more damage and it is obviously extremely powerfull for clear, and given all the gameplay footage we have seen, this is not poe 1 with white mobs being super easy and one shooted by every build. Making a 37.5 cull very valuable.
@@kouikilol5833 nah.,.. the culling strike ascendancy is purely a tax on decimating strike. You have so many skill gems that basically anyone can socket a culling skill (like lightning warp, or any skill with culling strike support) for effectively free.
Its right next to warrior, id imagine you could build heavy armor evasion and even energy sheild by traveling up to sorc after war. Block too if you are willing to use 1 hand. Should be tanky. Warrior also has some phys taken as other elements stuff ive seen. Or you can probably pass through ranger and hit monk evasion and es stuff
Decimating Strikes was exactly what I thought. It's the same as Culling but it's 5-30% and not 5-20%. Bosses will drop 5% instantly, then with Culling it'll die instantly at 5%.
@@rumbleshakes You're not mistaken. It's a range, it's random. Like if you have a weapon that does 10-20 damage, it can roll from that whole range. It's the Culling Strike skill on this ascendancy that has a fixed %, but it's tied to the rarity of what you hit. 5% for unique, 10% for rare, 20% for magic, 30% for normal.
@ cull strike works on scale to lower the life on the backend of mobs from white, magic, rare and unique mobs and the skill to knock out life on full life chunks it on the front end. So its a win with a flat and percentage of mob total life independent of level scale since it percentage based so it scales well with pinnacle bosses. Some with 42 million life. Also a free 7 link on all skills as its added to any and all skills since now you can only use one support per skill… its not the most important node but the full life chunk on pinnacle is busted for bossing and farming as well. Now if we can add explodey….
I think just based on my perspective, you take weapon master, witchbane, no mercy, and zealous inquisition. These 4 seem to be the standout best 4 combo for me as of now.
For anyone thinking about commenting on it, no it does not give you 20 passive points. We know this for 2 reasons. 1. It would be broken (obviously) 2. weapon set passive points *also* uses normal passive points, the node grants weapon set passive points, but not normal passive points. Your normal skill points don't change. You can gain weapon set passive points without converting. Basically it "grants" you more chances to specialize your weapons more.
Not true. Go watch the early acces long video. When boss drops the weapon specialization points it has the same wording as the passive node of witch hunter. And in the video it does says it is bonus points and weapon swap points.
@@brandond6360 They did say that. I believe they count as regular skill points, but wherever you place them will change when you swap weapons. If you don't swap weapons, well, then they're just regular skill points.
Hmm what if you go all in on damage with a crossbow and then have a melee shield switch which goes all in on defense and shield nodes, with the new shield that can block any attack. As soon as you click raise shield, your entire tree transforms into a giga defensive shield setup and while attacking with cluster grenades and stuff you have a hyper damage focused cbow setup.
What points seem best after first ascendancy? Weapon points look nice to power up the combo play style. Could also take culling strike for mapping or the concentration nodes.
I don't know about the weapon master converting points bro. The way I read it "grant" usually means straight up given on top. If it was regular points converted into swappable I'm pretty sure they'd make it explicitely clear. This would be absolutely OP for sure. But if you look at the Legionnaire, his Max res node and extra gem slots are also busted out of this world, so 20 extra skill point almost seems in the same vein edit: I could be wrong about what "weapon skill set point" means though I had always assumed they'd be extra points when you get them but maybe obtaining them only grants the ability to make points swappable in the first place. That would be more reasonable now that I think about it edit 2: no it can't be that way. "Weapon set points" have to be extra. Otherwise that still means you have to spread yourself thinner by splitting between sets and you still get (almost) the same result as poe 1 jack of all trade but master of none, which is no good.

@@Fubgun The thing is if you use both weapon sets equally you and spread your extra "converted" point evenly that's 10 point's you actually DON'T get to have on each set, so technically you'd be more versatile, but you'd cut yourself out of 10 points at any given time so I don't think it can be that way. I guess we'll see but maybe it actually is that busted, and would probably be nerfed to 10 or something, I don't know
How the hell will anyone take the weapon skillpoints while leveling? It's like impossible to take that as your first ascendancy if you need 20 unspent talent points to be able to click that node and have them convert, right? That's just insane
What happens with concerntration buff once you get it to 0? You keep attacking but it's at 0 so they're not losing concentration and as stated in the node "Enemies regain 10% of Concentration every second if they haven't lost concentration in the past 5 seconds" meaning the no mercy more damage is smaller than we all thought at first. Not that big of a deal but kinda is too... what do you think? Please let me know.
Judging by the wording, it'll slowly regen until they regain max concentration? but not 100% positive. It's honestly too hard to judge how good this node is until we actually play with it. We can still respec ascendancy points just not the full ascendancy class, so i'll certainly try it out on launch.
@@TF2Sleepless13 yeah after thinking about it, theres only 2 possibilities. Once concentration is depleted, it's permantely gone until the fight is over (or if you don't deal dmg for 5 seconds) OR once you break their concentration they get a buff that doesn't allow you to deplete for another X seconds (which would allow monsters to regen it). Obviously Scenario #1 would make it a lot stronger (making the boss cast less spells for majority of the fight, sounds really strong).
Monk ES seems fucking broken as hell, there was a video uploaded yesterday going over a lot of passives small and big nodes which seem absolutely bonkers.
It's good, but it's *increased* and not a *more* multiplier. 35% increased on targets lower than 30% means it's roughly an 11% increased damage modifier. Having the Culling Strike node means you get even less out of it. It's a good node, but nothing special honestly.
Nice video man, a lot of the ascendency nodes seem very interesting ,it's a shame since we won't be able to respec them that we won't be able to experiment with them as much, hopefully they change their mind and let us respec ascendency points like in POE1.

Culling strike only affects rare and unique mobs, havoc's video shows some support. So clear wont be that great, but still ok.

The order of the nodes are incorrect.
Also take note, skills granted from the tree (note: sorcery ward) are supportable. You can socket support gems in them.

The respecing for bosses seems annoying but this ascendancy seems really good and I can't wait to play it

25% threshold doesn't change much, still a really weak node for bosses (going from 5% to 6%). Just makes it better for trash clearing.

They changed the wording on weapon master. It's now "20 Passive Skill Points become weapon set skill points".

The official gameplay reveal literally shows a hit taking like 30% health off the boss on the first hit, so it's not rarity-based.

Culling strike means monsters in map clear faster! With full life knock could easily average out to -50% health for map mobs.
yeah if white mobs are actually a challenge in endgame then cull becomes quite potent.

The boss drops 2 points and I believe that is 1 bonus points.so this 20 should be 10 bonus points

I imagine they would regain 1 server tick of concentration then immediately lose it and go back to zero as long as you're dpsing.

At character level 100 you'll have a total of 122 I believe.

Cull on 1 skill or on all it doesn't matter you still have cull just use it on a skill with no cooldown
Autocast (cast when xxx) a skill supported with cull, then it doesn't matter
