Blockages in ferrets can go from 'uncomfortable' to 'deadly' really fast. This is a quick reference guide for the 'Blockage Protocol' steps you can take when you notice early signs of a potential blockage. It's a feeding process that aims to help move the blockage through your ferret's gut. Check out the related video to see this protocol play out. Thanks.
Hey Kate take a look at discord I put up pictures of kronk! He integrated really really quickly and well.❤ I have all blockage protocol at home just in case. Thank you so much for the info. How is zoro doing?
ive heard that an egg yolk fair often has something in it that helps them breakdown the hair from licking...This is a massive subject, my boy ate a bit of the door seal from my van,,, he also that day ate a bit of blue rubber glove,, about 11pm he coughed in great pain and puked up a bit of glove so i thought he was fine now,, but noooo,, during the night he started coughing again very painful sound,, in the morning he was half dead,, by 4 pm that day the vet removed a bit of door seal for a car,,, the vet told me, if the blockage cuts off the blood supply the gut starts to die, obviously if its a little bit they cut that bit of gut out but if its allot its lights out unfortunately.. cant stress enough about the speed to react.. You could make a good film on each of these subjects maybe starting with what they like to chew,,, my boy Yan love to chew rubber thing,, those blue thin gloves, car door seal, elastic bands (I've found in his poo),, always rubber,, oh the top of pencils with rubber,, that's a killer,, the bits that cover the charging port of a 12volt toy,,, its unbelievable how many things you have to think about...but its always rubber stuff,, nice to chew i guess.....
@FerretTubeTV Hey, Kate.I know you're busy.I sent another email but you can answer right on here if you'd like however I think you'd rather do it privately. Can you print a fake address exactly the way It will look on the envelope if I'm mailing to the U. K, and is it Glasgow, Scotland like it would be in the states? For instance it would be Miami, Florida
Your channel was in my feed a couple of weeks ago, and I was impressed enough to subscribe. Your videos are bringing back memories of how amazing they are, and I am giving serious thought to rescuing a couple of ferrets from my local dogs home. (I have experience and kept several of them many years ago) THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE CONTENT 👍🏻 (My memories are their scruffy, stinky summer coats transforming into thick beautiful winter coats !)
This is such an encouraging comment to read. Thank you so much! Welcome to the Floof Crew ... I look forward to hearing more if you decide to play the floof adventure again! 🥰🐾
This is such a good video! I never thought to mix salmon oil (I should get some for my girls now that I think of it), or using Vaseline. I've only ever used pure pumpkin purée. Thank you for sharing this, and I'm so sorry for why this topic was brought up to share with us. ...also one thing that others might find useful - I thought my Winnie had a partial blockage due to her symptoms matching what I was used to seeing for that. I fed her pumpkin purée with no success, but it seemed to naturally resolve in a few days. I paid more attention to her over the next couple of weeks when she went potty and eventually noticed she was straining to urinate, not defecate. Turns out her bladder is full of crystals, which is causing her to feel no full relief when urinating and has caused a bit of narrowing in her adjacent intestinal tract. Been monitoring her closely for a year while saving up for her surgery and finally got enough to cover the mid-range cost estimate for it! So she'll be getting surgery before the season is done. :) Anyway, just thought it worth bringing up because despite all my experience with ferrets over the years, I'd never encountered a situation like this where the symptoms had me so convinced of a partial blockage!
Hi idk if you remember me but I’m one of your old subscribers from like 2-3 years ago and was before you moved idk if u remember but I’m subbing to you
I'm not sure about Vaseline but it is widely available in pharmacy shops so you could try it. However 100% you can freeze your pumpkin puree in Ice Cube trays for the perfect dose.
Actually, thinking about it, the Vaseline is going to store just in a cupboard for months and months and months. So, there is no need to freeze that to keep it on hand 🙂
@FerretTubeTV The reasons why I stay with materials/foods/meds in case of such things. I have a question? Do you vaccinate your fluffies? The reason I ask is because I met a girl who has a Marshall's ferret and claimed that she hasn't been to the vet for shots since her purchase. Her ferret is 2 years old and she bought her at 4 months. She hasn't had a problem being that it never goes outside. She claims that vaccination sometimes leads to death or complications on ferrets?? I looked it up and read that they do go through stuff, but deaths are low. What's your take?
My take vaccinations is that if you're going to be regularly taking your ferrets out and about to public spaces, where they might come into contact with dogs, or be able to sniff at dog wee/poop, there is a chance they could catch something that can be vaccinated for. If they live in your home/garden without visiting dogs/cats you probably don't need it. As for the risks... ferrets are known to have anaphylactic vaccine reactions more commonly than dogs and cats. As many as 6% of ferrets can have an adverse vaccine reaction. So, it's really a question of how much risk they're exposed to balanced with the initial risk of a reaction... Only you can make that choice for your ferrets 🥰💖
@FerretTubeTV I felt the same way.. mine are house kept, and aside from the vacs they received in Petco, I haven't taken them yet, being afraid of losing them to it. Thx you as always for your response. Hope you're doing well today and enjoying the time in Scotland.
Petroleum jelly is useful for cats too. I used to give mine a tiny blob (the size of my thumbnail shared between my 3 cats) every day. It helped them rarely have furballs. Luckily they all loved the taste, in fact I had to lock away the jar or they were always trying to open it. Be careful giving cats salmon oil: it's hgh in vitamin A & even a small amount can cause toxicity in cats.
@@GONGOOZLER_ i thought in cause of the Vaseline. The first part ist german description but I saw the pound price Tag now. But they got a lot of German named stuff
@GONGOOZLER_ the longer video linked in the related video talks about all the extra details like symptoms and further treatment plans. In brief, the early signs are seeing them repeatedly try to poop and nothing/just a tiny drip coming out. You might also notice them have less energy than usual or see them lose interest in food.

Oh cool, ihr seid aus Deutschland.
Verstehe leider nicht ganz worum es genau geht, doch Bekannte haben öfter Wurmprobleme, hat das was damit zu tun?
