I'm an old poky-slow trail rider, so my only concerns were electrical and fuel economy. On my Xtrainer, I re-routed & sealed most of the connections (dielectric grease). I also found the carb a pain to R&R for servicing, so I installed a smart carb II. I believe the bike is getting almost 50% better mileage with even better response.

Funny Xtrainer sales crank and there’s a ton of them here that guys love. Im riding with a friend now with a 23’ xtrainer that he loves and I see a pile that guys been riding for years. There’s simple adjustments and mods that you do for any bike you ride. . Guys drill holes in the seat foam. Or get other seat foam . It’s Prep the wire connections. It’s basic prep of any brand new bike. Some yank the oi and run premix like the 300 race edition comes stock.. Put springs for your weight. Polisport has made aftermarket plastic for earlier xtrainers. Theyll make for the newest. Adjust the float bowl in the carb and gas mileage is way better or buy a big tank. Change tires. I mean it’s all simple basic stuff that you do to all bikes. Hey and there’s build Your Own Beta program to custom make your Beta if you like before you even get your bike or just buy a 300 race edition . I got 6 Betas since 09’. I don’t have broken plastics or wiring problems. Seat foam I changed and set up suspension for my weight and just do regular maintenance. . I have a 15’ 300 rr and an 09 525rs and a 12’ 350 race and a 22’ 200 rr and a 23’ 300 race. Ive been riding my friends 23’ xtrainer. The bike is great. Ive been riding a wide variety of Betas for years.

I’m wondering as I read these comments if most people understand the difference between the xtrainer and the 300rr,Sherco,KTM platforms the only bike I can put on par with it is the Rieju Ranger I believe it is. The machine is a 7/8 ths size has a detuned 300cc 2T motor which can easily be turned into a full blown fire breather just add a fatty pipe or rr pipe remove the xtra plate in the expansion plate on the power valve and jet the carb and viola fire breather. The suspension is a trail bike soft suspension yes it’s not great but compare it to Honda, yamaha, Kawasaki trail bike street legal machines and well it’s just better imho. It’s 220 lbs wet I believe and with the seat concept low seat it’s 34” I believe not positive and a price tag that’s pretty inflation friendly as 300 2T go.
And the grunt in the motor is 🤩

All similar issues with my 2017 Beta Xtrainer.
But the Stock suspension is made by a company called Olle. They are barely any better than trials type forks (pogo stick). Ohlins, Sachs, MX Tech Lucky fork insert, basically anything would be superior to the stock suspensions. The rear shock is not horrible, but there a batter dampers out there as well. Expect to spend about $1000-2000 for better suspension.
I have a GIANT beef with the BYO build your own Beta options. They charge retail for upgraded suspension, but you d not get to keep the OE suspension. Beta USA double dips on the component cost, although they do the installation.
I went with fork tuning and springs before finally I gave up and got the MX tech insert for the fork and it basically transformed the bike at higher trail speeds. I have the Beta Race chock too. Nice upgrade but $$$$.
There's no reason to spend the money unless you plan on keeping the bike for many years. I would say that for riders who have inseam challenges this may be the right bike for them, even though it will cost more than a300RR or KTM, it's a smaller lower bike that can be made into a fantastic trail bike.

Great informative video. That rear brake is just plain hokey. Figure every enduro or dual sport you buy will need the suspension modded. They are all too soft for anyone over 130 lbs. If you are an aggressive rider plan on springs and valving for sure. Soft engine performance from the factory can also dog enduro bikes. In many instances setting up an MX bike for enduro will result in a bike that rules the woods for an experienced rider. I am currently riding a KTM 300 EXC (carbed) and it is as reliable as a sledgehammer. I had the soft stock suspension recalibrated by Factory Connection for my fully geared up weight of 190 lbs. l love it. As for those electrical connections on your Beta, that is completely unacceptable.

    • @AaronsEnduro
      @AaronsEnduro  9 месяцев назад

In bc it has a “motorcycle plate / MC”
Which is the street legal plate for BC
The blue plate here is the offroad only plate. To get it registered as the street legal license plate all you have to do is make take your brand new x trainer to your local insurance hub and ask for street plates for it.
In BC anyways so long as the title of the registration says “open” and not “OHV” Then its up to the purchaser to then get it registered as an “MC” or “OHV”
If registered as an MC and it has “no restrictions” on your registration paperwork, youll be good to go. My local insurance broker is across the street from the beta dealer so they were used to getting new betas registered all the time.
Something else to note is when at the insurance broker it’s important (because BETA) is not a “make/model” in the system. they then have to create a “new profile” to give you custom “make/model” for the registration paperwork. Some brokers are too dumb to know this and will say they cant insure it. But this is what they had to do here in BC anyways for me to register it and the lady at my desk got stumped with trying to be to register it, but the higher up member was like “for betas we gotta make a custom make and model”

The 300 “sounds” intimidating compared to the 200rr. But i garuntee the 200rr will be a much peakier power band, and less luggable. The 200rr is better suited for aggressive riding. The x trainer is better suited to slower riding in technical terrain. When you put the x trainer in the wet map mode (in combination with the stock expansion chamber exhaust) the power is very tammed and not intimidated at all. Trust me i was in the same boat with getting my first 2 stroke

@@arlokkkk x trainer is a completely different type of riding style bike. Ive ridden both the 23xcw and 23 te300, those two bikes are overall better than an x trainer.
That being said the x trainer is way easier to ride, much less tiring, more manoeuvrable, lighter, smaller overall size, lower seat height, ultra linear tractable power, and super predictable. There really is no comparison for an x trainer and its truly in its own class.
The x trainer is a trials enduro hybrid compared to the Austrian bikes being an enduro/gncc bike. Two different bikes for two different riders, riding styles, and terrains

The suspension sucks! Easy fix, send the fork to AMP and get a new spring for the rear. Under $1000 and you are good to go. I think the brakes are good. You have to switch the petcock to reserve early because of how far it goes up into the tank. they dump fuel when you lay it down. Hard seat, whatever, stand up. Great bike overall.

I never got along with suspension and handling....motor was good!
Due to the extremely crappy suspension and short wheel base, had a hard time keeping it on the trail. In tight turns the front wheel would unload too much too quickly, it'd blow through....anything on the throttle.
    Very slow speeds, it's fine.
Here's what I don't get, why Beta refuses to put a good suspension package out of the crate...is beyond me.
Beta would sell a lot more xt if they did.

Too bad Beta doesn't make a race harness for it I would consider another one if the electrical was decent.
