Kid chameleon isn't that bad. The no password or save feature makes it tedious. Luckily, there's a cheat in the second world that warps you to the final boss.
There’s the unlimited lives trick where at the last life and last health bar, you gotta have the player touch an enemy and when he dies, immediately pause
Glad you finally got to give gain ground and kid chameleon a real shake. I hope you do a full play through of both. The trick with gain ground is you need to rescue as many of those little men and bring them to the exit. Then you will build up your army of guys which will make the harder levels easier. Kid chameleon is just a real hard game. I've beaten it once but had to use the infinite guy cheat because it is so hard. That is why most people don't like it, because of the frustrating difficulty. I would love to watch you beat these two on stream.
I'm glad Mike gave Kid Chameleon another chance too. I feel most people who dislike the game just never had the manual. If Mike plays more of it someone needs to tell him how spending the diamonds works. that is crucial to making progress. and that you can climb ledges as the kid. I hope i catch him streaming it because I love Kid Chameleon.
Kid Chameleon is definitely underrated. Good spot!
mike gonna be raging at it if he try to beat it has 99 odd levels more if you dont count the connecting warp levels
These were some of my all time favorite games growing up. Forgotten Worlds arcade is awesome. Can't remember the Genesis version much. Kid Chameleon was one of the best early platformers on the Genesis. There's a TON of stages and they get better and better in my opinion the further you get. It was pretty popular on that system but few people managed to make it all the way through the game, much like Ecco The Dolphin.. everyone had it but no one beat it lol. I remember getting to the final few stages but not quite beating it.
That stupid shop music from Forgotten Worlds will forever be stuck in my head, lol.
I completely forgot that Kid Chameleon even existed until i saw this thumbnail. You just unlocked hours and hours of memories for me. Thanks.
Kid Chameleon is awesome, but it'll be really frustrating to beat. There's loads of hidden lives and continues everywhere and without them you're going to be game overing A LOT. It gets really hard later on. No passwords either. The ankhs are lives and the coins are continues. The gems are ammunition for special moves. Every helmet has different ones, I think you hold select and press a button to use them. Also when you have no helmet if you press jump in the air when he's against a block, he'll do a front flip to get over it, it lets you reach just a little higher. I recommend reading the instruction book if you want a proper go at beating it
Kid Chameleon! 🤘🤘 I hope Sega does a sequel with that like they did with Sonic Mania and Streets of Rage 4. Thanks for streaming that one, Mike!
Streets of Rage 4 is a banger and Sonic Mania was excellent aswell.
Forgotten Worlds was a favorite coop game. Namely as long as both players don't die at the same time, you can die as many times as you want.
kid chameleon is such a great game. ive been wanting you to revisit it for so long
Glad to see you enjoying Genesis so much. I think you'd really like Ranger-X, it's got good action and a great sound track. I bought it at Blockbuster as a kid, what a great gem to find.
Yeah,Ranger X is a really unique fun game.
Zenny is the name of the currency in Capcom games. You can find a ton of hidden Zenny in this game by moving around to areas where they are hidden. Like around those pipes. There are a few large orbs around the pipes. I also suggest changing the controls to auto fire + control the aim with A and C. It makes it much easier to concentrate on aiming. The laser is a good weapon to go with. And you can upgrade it later in the game which helps a lot with the last stage boss. He can be a dick. -Matt
I googled it lol yup
Vectorman tips for Mike:
1 - Most sidescrolling levels have one hidden health upgrade item in the TVs that you shoot, so explore.
2 - The 2nd level is very short. Knock the boss down 3 or 4 times and the level is done. This is the only level that's like that, and then the game goes back to sidescrolling, I know it's dumb.
3 - This game is extremely hard on the normal difficulty, so consider practicing on Easy to have more lives and health.
4 - The 2X items multiplies not only the points but also the lives. If you either score enough points to earn a 1Up or if you find a hidden 1Up in the TV, you'll instead get 2 lives. There's also a 3X and 4X, all the way to 10X item that you can find. Once you grab one of these, the effect will wear off after a minute or two, so find a 1Up quick.
5 - Those stars that come out the the TVs are called photons, they are just points.
6 - If you're falling down a long distance, you can shoot downward to slow down your falling speed.
Forgotten Worlds on Genesis is such a great port. Hot take- I find it to be far more playable than the PC Engine CD version.
I love Kid Chameleon. It's one of the sega games I played the most growing up. Played the shit out of that game. Love the nostalgia when playing it today.
Kid Chameleon actually has a lot more going for it than most people give it credit for. It looks like it's just a crappy Mario Bros ripoff but it has it's own thing going on.
I grew up with all Sega systems (SMS, GG, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn) and knew back then that Genesis was badass. Had so many arguments with you Nintendo kids with my shirt off.
Yeah the problem is that Nintendo (in that era) was badass. They became more shit later.
Thank you Mike for the good Videos!
Also, I'm all for options but Kid Chameleon is one of those exceptions. Anyone who doesn't like it is an idiot. It's one of the best Genesis games and one of the best platform games ever made.
2:01:00 Old Towers song is POPCORN dance song from 90's sampled from '69 song
yet ANOTHER Sega Genesis game that I never heard about and it looks GREAT... the console that keeps on giving 🎮
Forgotten worlds is a great game
Always nice to see some Sega Genesis. I'm trying to get good at Fatal Rewind, which I think is very difficult.
Dune RTS on the Genesis is totally a thing dude, yeah, and it plays great
2:21:27 (Doom mod) If you wanna try a Doom mod that allows you to play with Sword, try the FinalDoomer mod... The JPCP set of weapons has a sword that replaces Chainsaw and it can be charged to 3 different levels of power... Normal, Chainsaw, Berserker... when the sword is powered to Max level, you can kill Revenants with single swipe and kill Archviles with only 2 hits
that sword is also capable of destroying enemy projectiles... be careful because you will need to re-collect the Berserker powerup on each new level in order to have Max power... fortunately, the maps in JPCP Doom WAD were all designed with a Berserker item placed right near to each level start, hunt for them they are essential
I played Forgotten Worlds a ton growing up. Good times!
Same
It looks so funny with the dude just dangling around in the air
I think I love you/but what am I so afraid of?
1:32:30 It's a shame that Mike has no plans on finishing Contra Operation Galuga. Really wanted to see him play it all the way through.
Forgotten Worlds is one of my favorites,I can't wait to see what Mike thinks of it!
Forgotten Worlds is great in 2P, but it's harder than a T-Rex's shit in 1P, you gotta farm the upgrades, including the Potion of Resurrection. i've almost beat the game in 1P but lost to the Final Boss in my latest run.
Kid Chameleon has some bad things about it that are shit, but i still enjoy it. you gotta use Save States or better yet get the S-Ram Hack that gives you the ability to save/load your run, otherwise beating 100+ is a pain in the dick.
I adore the music from forgotten worlds ❤
It really does have a pretty great soundtrack.
The Capcom Classics Collection release of Forgotten Worlds on the original Xbox (and I’m sure PS2 too) let’s you aim with the right stick like a twin stick shooter. It’s great. You can play Mercs on there like that too. The Capcom Arcade Stadium version does too, but I’m not sure it’s the default setting for either...although I’m not sure if the CAS version of Mercs lets you play it like a twin stick shooter.
I love Forgotten Worlds. It has a stellar soundtrack and just an overall awesome atmosphere
Love forgotten worlds! Fun co-op shmup, we got glitch stuck towards the end I think from abusing the "endless continue" trick, if you press start before the other player dies you can continue
Think there was 9 ( ten including the Kid) characters you can play as.
The game just felt like the gift that kept giving.
I don't know where the hate from Kid Chameleon came from. I personally and everyone I know loves this game.
I haven't played kid chameleon in so long. Never finished it. I can't even remember where i got stuck. This is telling me that it's time to revisit it. Btw supermans x-ray vision gave me and everyone else he looked at cancer. Hehe
My best friend used to rent Kid Chameleon and we'd take turns playing it back in the day.
Seeing you play this difficult game brings back memories 😁
He also owned Vectorman but we didn't play it so much.
In vectorman just shoot the hand don't mind the camera jump when needed forget the rest of the mob also the multiplier icon not only work with score also affect pick up like health and health extension also affect 1ups
Forgotten Worlds by ERNIE!
I caught that Vl reference “…far better position to dictate terms”
GET TO KID CHAMELEON!!!!
Gain Ground is good game. You should try to beat it one day.
always appreciate seeing some genesis 👍
Love your streams, MiKE !!! Too funny all the time 😂
People probably don’t like kid chameleon because there is a lot to learn like all of the helmet abilities. Those gems also unlock special abilities for different helmets. I thought the gems were useless when I was a kid I beat the game without ever using them because I didn’t have the Manuel that said what they did. There are over 100 levels. Some can be skipped and some are different depending on what path you take. Once you learn the early levels and shortcuts you will be able to speed through them getting only what you need
Also, if you like this game, and you should! Play the arcade version instead. The Genesis cuts levels, and a lot of detail. The sound it pretty close though. The PC Engine CD version is also excellent. Mostly because of the music.
So obviously, I never played Forgotten Worlds on Sega Genesis, but I have played the arcade port from other compilations. It was really fun game.
Just gonna hide in here for a few hours, away from the rest of the world.
Viewpoint was a Neo-Geo arcade game originally.
Viewpoint Im just not too into. What mame stuff do you want to see me play send me a list 🙃
@@mikematei Already did. Email is titled "MAME Hidden Gems list." Sent that bc you asked about hidden gems. I'd want to see you play a lot more than that though. It would pretty much be an endless list of arcade games that I'd want to see.
Love to see some kid chameleon
Bought 3dSen and saw your quote in there. Stamp of approval from Matei, and it really is a quality piece of software.
Another great upload from the. King of video game retro games mike matie
Did Erin 1CC Splatterhouse arcade? Thought it was only TG-16.
Kid Chameleon is so good
This game is better on PC Engine CD. Would have been a good opportunity to play it.
Wow, I remember playing that!
I thought the cover art was the coolest thing I've ever seen as a kid. The game ain's so bad either 😊😊😊
I want to like Devilish so much just from the music, awesome sense of style and being such a unique take on Arkanoid/Breakout; but I feel the gameplay just lacks... something. You got so much further into it on your first go than I ever have, to be fair.
Are used to place in the arcade or remember it being as hard as the second version and hope you have a great gaming experience and keep all the good work you’ve been doing
it looks like you were playing Forgotten Worlds V1.1, did you try Rev. A? they may have fixed the crashes in a later cart release.
SEGA!!!!
Maybe you could do 2 player forgotten world with Erin someday
Also the arcade version of gain ground is on switch arcade archives.
Mike, I myself am getting a Greendog tattoo. You and I should BOTH get matching tattoos
How about pulseman? Good action platformer by game freaks
That game is cool, yeah! I remember first time I discovered it I was like this is better than Sonic! lol
@@HiNRGboysame here. Also there’s a fan made sequel to it that’s being developed
We need shirtless Michael, the retro vampire 🧛
Man if you had have got to the level on Kid Chameleon when you were the mini character you would've gone nuts...
Decapattack got the Mikey's seal of approval 👍Awesome 🤘Cool game... and there's even the Japanese original version, which had different artwork and better music (in my opinion) The mechanics and special items should be the same
it's called Magical Hat something something
that Mole boss in the 5th level is a fucking nightmare though 🤣🤣🤣that boss ended many people's will to continue trying to finish that game
Play beat em up games for the genesis like the punisher
This was a good stream
go back and watch the James and Mike monday video you did with James on this. That might shed some light on Kid chameleon, tho I dunno maybe your opinion changed
Mike, have you and James ever considered going in on a content house together? I was thinking it could solve the issue of having to drive all the time and would give you guys a lot of opportunity for a second golden age of cinemassacre content if you guys had a neutral location and stayed there maybe half the week
I stream
I like kid chameleon the story getting suck into a video game is cool the different power ups the no save makes it tough also so many levels
the pink guy you need to press the button like turbo , it fly lool , the tank , you press down and you crwl inside it , thew diamond , its superpower , you press a button and it use the power , depend on how many you have ,
Yes!
Every woman at The Daily Planet got breast cancer, it is a mystery.
Kid Chameleon is a tough game, I think you can finish it, but it could produce some bad words along the way..
Will you play mega maker one day ? It's like mario maker but with mega man
How's your day going today
I'm doing just fine. Thanks.
Can you do dominating the skies on opera gx
Your Mister prob can't play Gain Ground arcade, but there is a program that can. Can't remember its name. Hmmmm.
Haha
What’s up Mike !
Awesome yeah sega
No shirt no gun no service
Not big on kid got stuck later on
Grew up on vectorman solid game once u get the hang of it lol chat so unhelpful
One lil tip spam the fire button and its not contra
Imagine using Google to learn about a game instead of complaining that you don’t understand it. This is a common problem for Mike
I want to learn about games from the games themselves. Not looking it up on some website. Thats not a problem its a choice.
man memories of me browsing gamefaqs for pokemon tips and tricks only to find them a bunch of lies lol
To be honest mike if you're done with it i'm good to silly after you if you don't really want to play it again then I wouldn't do it but it's really up to
Ah, that most elusive of shmup sub-genre aka the one where you are a hovering dude scrolling forward and shoot stuff. A genre that also gave us Legendary Wings, S.C.A.T., Burai Fighter, Abadox and probably many more. Out of those ones I played S.C.A.T. on NES for a bit (as in beat levels 1 + 2) and it appears to be a good game. I seem to remember you being meh on it or something (your trying out this game on your NES A-Z stream I can only remember you making fun of the name) though I could be wrong. Anywho, Forgotten Worlds has something that S.C.A.T. does not have: a beautiful girl selling you items in a shop.
Speaking of that, that is one game mechanic that appears sometimes in shmups (I also remember Magical Chase on TurboGrafx that you played through had it as well). Wondering what your thoughts about "entering a shop during a shmup level to buy items" is. While it is a neat feature, I could also see that it might be something that takes you out of the rhythm of the gameplay when you are thrusted into the level again.
Now here's something for you to try out when you might want to punish yourself: There's an official Genesis port of that wonderful, wonderful Woody Woodpecker game that you played on Sega Master System once. Look for it under F as in "Ferias Frustradas Do Pica Pau" (its official title or maybe under Woody Woodpecker on your Everdrive) to try and see whether you can actually beat the first boss in that port XD
Games that are still missing in your Games I've Beaten On Stream list:
-Super Castlevania Bros. (NES Hacks/Homebrew/Unreleased)
-Dome Keeper (Hardest Setting) (PC)
-The Legend Of Zelda: Fall Of Hyrule (NES Hacks/Homebrew/Unreleased)
-Maximum Action (PC)
-Rockman 3: Winternight (NES Hacks/Homebrew/Unreleased)
are you and James still friends? i haven't seen you two do anything together in a while. 😟
You didnt see the final fantasy 3 episode?
@@mikematei no I guess I missed that one 😕. I'm just used to seeing you two do a lot of stuff together. And I've noticed it's not so much as of late.
Gonna escape to here cause me dumb thanks you
KID IS GOAT
Ive never heard someone complain about too much content in a game lol. you dont have to do it all in one sitting ya know! Think of modern day gaming as a miniseries that you can binge or spread over a month or two...or five, while retro gaming is closer to an 80s action film. its wham bam thank you ma'm and hopefully you can get a cool shirt out of it.
Yeah but I’m talking about streaming as well. And with long modern games, i have to do multiple parts over multiple days. Or possibly even weeks. And it goes on too long the same game over and over.
"while retro gaming is closer to an 80s action film. its wham bam thank you ma'm and hopefully you can get a cool shirt out of it"
No it's not, if you play legit retro games can require months of practice before you can get a good run.
Day 0.03 of not watching Mike Matei till Mike Matei plays Star Trek: 25th Anniversary on THE AmigAH
yo mike, you gotta do a video of street fighter 2, its probley the most famous game of all time. you and erin can practice for a month and then play each other afterwords, wouldnt that make a great video? you can dress up and everythin!
That was a month of garbage games. This is more like it. I'll chalk it up to passive aggressiveness.
What are you talking about.
@@mikemateiIt sounds like he is trying to say the games you played previously this month werent good for some reason and this is better in his opinion....only thing I can extract from that. I havent caught all the streams so I'm not sure if you've been having "bad games" but I enjoyed both of these games as a kid.
wtf
Weird that people think Kid Chameleon is a bad game.
I remember in the early 2000's, Game Informer magazine scored Kid Chameleon as one of the best games on Genesis.
Me: Really? 🫤
