  • in this video I unbox and give a review of the falcon Housewares enamelle tea can for use on my wood burner this is where the saying "a lid of tea" comes from, as i love tea i can keep one on the go full time now!
traditionally you would see these on the footplate of a steam train from the 1920 onward

Lid of tea! I wondered where that saying came from! Brilliant!

Love your enthusiasm, Mate. (Slightly surprised the tea didn’t slop when the billy-kettle was used on a steam train).

Thanks for watching! And your feedback! .
I expect the original was bigger and of better quality, the shapes good for not letting it slop out. But my heavy hands have not been kind. Looks good on the work bench and between cups keeps the dust out! Cheers

Thank you, great review! You also answered my question about whether it was a sticker or not as on some websites the billycan is plain.

Thanks for watching! Looks good but for my heavy hands it is not as practical... But it looks great!. Might have to make the handle out of something of a heavier gauge and wish it was bigger!.
      Cheers!

As far as I know the trains had a Tap that they could use to get their Hot Water from. Not Positive where I am remembering that from.

I have heard this as well.... but I am sure the heat that boiler gives of would keep that tea hot all day and night, Thanks for watching, Cheers!

I can confirm they did and it came straight from the boiler.. but with my experience so far the way it stores keeps the mug clean and contents dust free so could of been another reason for this?? Cheers

my guess is that the cup was small so that if the tea got contaminated then not too much was wasted. if you've left the tea bag in there the last cup will be 'bulls blood'. :)

Here in the U.S.A. they don't seem to be around. It could be that there is a time of year that they stop producing things that are for "Outdoor Use". I'm going to substitute a 3 cup Coffee Boiler from GSI. gsioutdoors.com/coffee-pot.html

@@stevesindustrialadventures799 I Love Cowboy Kent Rollins!!! Right now I use a 20 Cup Coffee Boiler for my Coffee even though I'll possibly be the Only One Drinking from that Pot. He was the First One that mentioned about Letting your Coffee Boil for At Least 4 Minutes to get rid of the Acid. I even mentioned this video to a Co-Worker who Suffered from Acid Reflux. He bought a 20 Cup Stainless Steel Percolator and would let it Boil and it Cured his Reflux. For me to order the Tea Can from England would be about 55 Pounds with Shipping & Handling. A Bit to Rich for my Budget.

@@stevesindustrialadventures799 I've just received my 3 Cup Coffee Warmer / Boiler yesterday. I'm happy with this Substitution. It looks like I stole it from a Childs Play Kitchen. It made me Laugh when I unwrapped it. I had no idea what was in the package until I could see it. I ordered a 24 oz. Enamel Cup also and the small pot makes a Perfect Cup of coffee for that size cup.
